1 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2008

The lights (interior and exterior) will flicker in my 2005 Chevrolet Uplander. It has become an unsafe situation as oncoming traffic think that I am flashing my highbeams at them. I have not replaced the voltage regulator yet, but I am sure this is the problem. Gm should issue a recall for this item. My car is past the warranty period (60000 miles), and gm will only repair if I pay full price and labor for this safety item.

2 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2006

: the contact stated while driving in normal conditions, the electrical system does not properly work. This occurs at various speeds. While the accelerator pedal is depressed no problems are apparent. However, when the accelerator pedal is not depressed the heater blower does not blow and the exterior and interior lighting is so dim that the contact has visual problems while driving at night. The vehicle was taken to the local dealership numerous times for inspection and repairs. The dealer replaced the alternator although that did not remedy the problem. The dealer can not duplicate the problem; therefore no additional repairs were made.

3 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 01/03/2006

: the contact stated the headlights dim intermittently. When the accelerator pedal is not being depressed the headlights dim and the heater motor blower slows down. However, when the accelerator pedal is depressed the headlights and heater function normally. The manufacturer determined the computer was defective. Also, the power control module ( pcm) has been replaced, and the alternator was replaced 3 times.

4 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2005

: the contact stated while driving the head lights and the interior lights started flickering. The first time the vehicle was taken to the dealership, it only had two hundred and thirty eight miles on it. Upon inspection, the dealership determined the module computer control body needed to be replaced and the instrument panel was reprogrammed. Even though repairs were made, the vehicle was still experiencing the same type of problems. When the vehicle was taken to the dealership a second time, the sensor in the running day lights and the generator assembly were replaced. After driving the vehicle for a short period of time, the head lights and interior lights began flickering again. The vehicle was taken back to the dealership however there were no repairs made. The manufacturer was alerted.

5 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2005

2005 chevy Uplander, headlight failure. Dim and flicker. Gm indicates no known cause or solution. Mulitple replacements of alternator. Gm claims there is nothing they can do, they say it doesn't create a dangerous situation. I disagree.

6 Alternator/generator/regulator problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2005

The contact stated there was a problem with the dash lights and headlights flickering. The lights started getting dim as if they were losing power. The problem gets worse when applying pressure to the brake or gas pedal. This has been a constant problem. The vehicle was taken to a dealership, and the alternator was replaced. The problem recurred. She took the vehicle back to the dealership, and they said they would replace the alternator.
