My electrical will go out as I am driving. The car has stopped completely and the electrical as I was driving. My car will turn on and then off, and I have to do it about 5 times before I can even get it to stay on and drive. Sometimes the electrical will stop after that but I can still drive. This is not safe. It has been going on for some time.
The ignition slips into the off mode while vehicle is running, thus disabling everything, including power steering and brakes. I have had it happen while moving out of parking spots on a public street, and many times after start up when I'm not moving. I have quit driving it until I can get it repaired due to safety concern.
My daughter was driving my car with the heated seats on. She felt it get extremely hot. She turned off seat warmers. When she got out of car, the seat had melt/burn marks and her leggings and skin had burn/red marks. I had a mechanic look into this and he said do not use seat warmers-it will cause a fire. New seat is at least $500 without labor. Makes me question entire electrical system. In addition, you have connected so many things together, that replacing one thing means replacing a whole console. I am a true chevy person- used to own? be associated with a chevy beretta, 1964 corvair, citation, malibu. . . Looking to buy again, but this burning was scary!.
While driving down the interstate my Uplander shuts off for no reason or warning. No check engine lights come on. I had onstar run a test and nothing is found.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Uplander. While driving approximately 25 mph, the power steering failed and the radio became inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 181,000.
I was stopped at a stop sign when all of a sudden the instrument panel quit working no lights no guages,,and I heard a scratching slash crackling noise coming from the speaker on drivers front side . . The panel lights came back on and it had all these warnings saying service engine soon, service abs system, service theft protection system, change oil soon, service vehicle soon. . . . The heater was still on thou? and the van was still running. . . Scared me to death I had my 3 grandkids 11yrs,,14mths. ,,and 4mths. ,,old with me I thought we was fixing to stranded out in the 38 degree weather. . . . . I didnt know what the heck was going on and it has done it several times since then I now gotta pay someone to fix or figure out what is going on. . . . . And sometimes when I try to start it the engine lite comes on but no power what so ever no instrument lights at all just that one little engine lite comes on. . . . Any help would be great. . . ?.
Wife was driving on rd hit pot hole key shut off no stering no brakes contacked gm they give file number to contack dealer they said you pay first to get it fix not checking to see if it was bad dont know what to do.
The check engine light came on and driveability was affected; reduced acceleration and reduced gas mileage, code 0404. Our technician found that the electrical contacts in the egr valve had failed. Since gm does not produce the replacement parts for this model, a newer egr valve, harness and computer reprogramming was necessary. The gm dealer and chevy customer service refused to help under our warranty coverage since we were out of the emissions time limit. Our tech indicated that gm has had serious egr valve failures and refuses to acknowledge this design defect except with an obscure tech bulletin. Repairs cost upwards of 800 dollars.
Both motors are out which is fine but know doors are locked and my doors will not open what am I suppose to do if I get in an accident and my children get stuck in the vehicle. This happened in 6 /2012 too I paid for the one to be opened and 1 week later it did it again so the right passenger door has been stuck since and I think this is ridiculous and a hazard to my children.
While driving the exterior and interior lights will dim and/or flicker. Voltage does not stay consistent. When stopping the radio will blink off, and the cd changer will make ejecting noises like a tape player. If any accessories "are" actually plugged in you will get static and electrical whining from the speakers. Vehicle will give hard start issues after experiencing the light dim and flicker issue. I have already had all the plugs and wires replaced at the dealership for these issues.
All the lights in the vehicle flicker while the engine is running, it is so bad that other vehicles will flash their lights at me.
A driver parked her vehicle such that the rear of her vehicle was facing downhill. She thought she placed the vehicle in park and turned the ignition off. She left the key in the ignition and began to clean the interior of the vehicle from the front passenger side. Her two year old son was standing on the driver¿s seat. While she was cleaning the interior, she heard a ¿click and the vehicle began to roll backwards. She was unable to stop the vehicle from rolling backwards. She was injured by stationary objects located outside and along the path of the moving vehicle. A review of the operation of the gear shift lever found the following: in this vehicle, it was possible to position the gear shift lever between the park and reverse positions. In this intermediate position, the gear shift lever engaged the parking pawl in the transmission system which prevented the vehicle from moving. However, the gear shift lever was not locked in position, and the lever was movable. A force was necessary to overcome the resistance holding the lever in the intermediate position. The force could have been caused by lever contact or vehicle jostling. The lever moved, and the parking pawl released the wheels allowing the vehicle to move. In normal park mode, the operator may place the gear shift lever in park and the lever will lock. In order to take the vehicle out of park, the ignition key needs to be in either the accessory or run position and the brake pedal must be depressed. A driver may then move the unlocked gear shift lever out of park. The vehicle cannot be taken out of park without first intentionally depressing the brake pedal. It was possible to bypass this process in this vehicle. The gear shift lever could be placed in an intermediate position between park and reverse where the wheels were locked, but the lever was not locked.
We have had 3 chevy Uplander vans recently and the power doors like to come open on their own when you are driving at various speeds. This is very dangerous if you have children. The door chime also keeps dinging and making noise even when the door is closed.
Lights on my Uplander go out while driving at night. When I bought it in 2005 it happened maybe every 2 months. Now it is twice a week. I can't drive safely at night. Other times they flicker and grow very dim.
The sliding door on rear passenger side of van would not close without the 'open door bell' beeping constantly (even after closed). Sometimes after re-closing, it would stop but this eventually became a constant happening. We live in PA. And were in FL. When this first happened, so we took it to a dealer to have it fixed. Approx. A year later, the same thing happened. Again, after opening and closing the door a number of times the beeping would sometimes stop, but when we needed to use the door, it would repeat. We took it to the dealer the second time to have it repaired. Now, we are experiencing the same thing again and the beeping will not stop! this is way too expensive for us to handle. We are seniors and cannot afford to pay for this kind of defect. Please help us!.
The automatic doors on our 2005 chevy Uplander open by themselves, the alarms go off saying they are not shut, and if the driver's side rear door is opened, it takes about a half hour to get it to shut again.
When driving my minivan the door on the side will fly open, also the gauges will stop working so you cannot tell how fast you are going, I have had my car in at least 5 times the last year.
This complaint covers many components of the chevy Uplander that has spanned over the three years that we have owned the van. All problems are "unable to be diagnosed" by dealerships and chevy refuses to help us. I have been in contact with chevy from about the second time that the van went to the shop for electrical problems. We have had electrical problems that vary from the lights flickering to the fans output changing to the radio not allowing you to program in a station on one preset button, we are also currently having an abs issue and have had a non gm mechanic look at the van and said it is ok. The passenger side auto sliding door does not always automatically open and sometimes does not close either, when you manually shut it will open by itself several times before it stays shut. We are currently and have for some time had a problem with starting the van this is also something that "can't be diagnosed" it has been looked at many times. The problems happens about 15-20 times a week. We did purchase the extended warranty on the van and it is now about up and I am at a loss as to what to do because nobody wants to help even though it is clear I am not the only one . Please let me know if there is any other way to fight this. The drivers sliding door doesn't always unlock either unless done by hand.
When I let off the accelerator the lights flicker and the blower slows down. Also, sometimes when I try to start it, the engine won't start.
We have had several issues with the doors not closing and have taken the vehicle in several times. The service dept. Couldn't duplicate the problem. Apparently gm knows about the problem because the last time we were in there they told us there was an internal service bulletin about re-routing wires and possible module replacement, all of which was done to our vehicle. It is going back in again 7-27-07 for the same problem. Our Uplander also has a problem of the door locks rapidly locking and unlocking at various times while driving, and all of the lights will flicker and dim. One instance while driving at night all lights went out briefly and came back on, extremely dangerous! something has to be done. We live in michigan, you'd think there wouldn't be a problem in the motor city.
I have a 2005 Uplander that has been back to the dealer four times now for an electrical problem and they tell me now that nothing can be done. The blower fan motor slows down when I am stopping and the head lights dim. The newest problem is that the passenger side auto sliding door open on its own. This has occurred on two different occasions.
This 2005 chevy Uplander has had electrical problems since I took it off the showroom floor, from all lights flashing interior dash and exterior as well. Fuel system lights as well as just about every other failure warnings inside this vehicle, to no fuel just after fill up, to service abs system and door opens on and off since I owned it, every time I brought it in for service they told me that it needs to be happening at that time otherwise they cant fix it!! just now after seeing all the complaints about this poor made piece of s. . It. I had to have my head examined to buy this car off the lease I had. As the only owner of the car I know its not my lack of maintenance cause the problems, its the multi billion dollar gm should be held accountable for this. Someone please help us with this issue, and bail us out just like gm has been, were just average people trying to get by.
My wife had driven from our home 7 miles away to the maggie moo's ice cream shop. She went in to the store to purchase some ice cream for my kids and her mom who stayed in the vehicle which was left running because of the heat. When she returned she backed the vehicle up with no problem but when she attempted to pull forward she heard the wrongest noise emanate from the front of the vehicle she has ever heard and the vehicle jumped and bumped and came to a grinding halt. I did not think it could have been so bad as she explained to me when I arrived. So I backed the vehicle out of the parking space that she managed to get to and pulled forward. Oh my god! what she had explained to me wasn't even as bad as I experienced. The stability control activation message appeared in the dash display and the antilock brakes on the driver side front wheel began to growl then screeched the vehicle to a grinding halt. I was scared. My kids were thrown around in the car since they had unbuckled their seat belts while eating their ice cream. I made them buckle up and I tried it again. The same result over and over again until I finally got to a parking space. I called Chevrolet to come tow the vehicle in to repair my 2005 Uplander. They called me the next day and informed me that they found no problem and that the error codes pulled from the computer showed not error ever happened. This scares the hell out of me and my wife refuses to drive the vehicle. Our fear of this malfunction occurring at highway speeds could result in catastrophic results. I am in contact with gm but they are so far unwilling to admit or take any action to resolve this safety issue. I need help!!! we all need to know if there is a major problem with the stabilitrak system being deployed on these new vehicles. Please take this up and open an immediate investigation. I am documenting this malfunction everywhere I can think to because no one needs to die because of a defect.
The rear passenger door of my 2005 chevy Uplander was open. I started the automatic door (to close). My 22 month old daughter started towards me. I put my hand inside the door to stop her. The door continued to close. I pushed against it with my forearm. The door continued to close, and closed on my hand. My left hand was trapped in the closed door. A part was ordered three months ago, but the door still has not been fixed.
Bought Mini-van new in 2005 has only 24000 miles on it. It has been back to 2 different dealers 22 times, for electrical issues. The power sliding door's open up themselves sometimes while your are driving sometimes while it is parked. (door's are locked still does it. )have had 5 dvd player's replaced ,rear wiper motor replaced,2 radios, heated seat coil, front end parts replaced twice within 2000 miles new tires at 11,000 miles (all 4 ) fuel systemparts replaced, rear axle serviced twice within 1,000 miles, power system repaired 3 times, brakes rotors resurfaced 2 times after only10,000 miles, headlight not working properly (have complained about that 3 times have not found problem, still does it),engine harmonic balancer bolt loose retighten, plus much more . That is the short list. Have made claim with better business bureau would not do anything. Have filed claims with general motor's talked with 4 upper management personal they have decided the only thing they what to do is offer us a $1000 toward a new general motor's car. The problem with that is I do not what to but another g. M. Car or truck because of the way they have handled us with this one. Every 3 month's now the service a. B. S light comes on and then the all-wheel drive is disabled. The van is now out of warranty and we are stuck with this piece of junk having to get fixed every 3 month's. Please help us come to some kind of solution, have checked on-line and found a lot of Uplander owner's having the same problem's related to electrical issues so it's not just this one. Thank you.
We were taking vacation last December going thru the mountains and it was very foggy. You could barely see the road and we noticed the headlights and interior lights were flickering. The following week I took it to my dealership to let them fix the problem they did let me know that they were aware of a problem. They showed me a paper stating that gmac was trying to correct the problem. This was last December and it is now June and still no solution. This could cause a accident especially when you are driving in foggy weather. I really hope someone can find a the solution to the problem or I might just take the vehicle to the dealer parking lot and park it until the solution is fixed.
