4 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 08/02/2018

Our abs light is on bought it that way lady said she had the abs hub replaced but it still won't go off. Sometimes when your driving the traction control trying to kick in but in the middle of the road or highway is not the place for your car to jerk out of no where scaring the crap out of you especially when your surrounded by cars on all sides. These 2 lights stay on they will not go off I don't feel I should have to go through all of thy his again because of a manufacturer mess up. This has happened more than once but I'll list the last time below.

5 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

My electrical will go out as I am driving. The car has stopped completely and the electrical as I was driving. My car will turn on and then off, and I have to do it about 5 times before I can even get it to stay on and drive. Sometimes the electrical will stop after that but I can still drive. This is not safe. It has been going on for some time.

6 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

The ignition slips into the off mode while vehicle is running, thus disabling everything, including power steering and brakes. 7 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 01/07/2017

My daughter was driving my car with the heated seats on. She felt it get extremely hot. She turned off seat warmers. When she got out of car, the seat had melt/burn marks and her leggings and skin had burn/red marks. I had a mechanic look into this and he said do not use seat warmers-it will cause a fire. New seat is at least $500 without labor. Makes me question entire electrical system. In addition, you have connected so many things together, that replacing one thing means replacing a whole console. I am a true chevy person- used to own? be associated with a chevy beretta, 1964 corvair, citation, malibu. . . Looking to buy again, but this burning was scary!.

17 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 03/20/2014

We have a 2008 chevy Uplander van (bought new) that between Aug. 2010 and March of this year had to be jump started 9 times because the battery was totally dead. When calling a towing service truck the van started up immediatly and I was able to drive it to a service station. It has now been looked at by 3 different Chevrolet dealers & 2 independent garages. After thouhrough analysis, neither have been able to figure out the root cause of the problem. Three times I was told the van needed a new battery, but after a few months the vehicle would again not start. The gm customer service (1-800-222-1020) would not help me and referred me to have the chevy dealership resolve this problem. I recommend that gm recall this vehicle and fix it after figuring out what the cause of the problem is.

18 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 02/14/2014

I purchased this vehicle from a private owner on 2/14/14. The dashboard lights do not work which is a problem at night, which means I can only drive it during the day and without it lighting up there are no codes available. I do not know how fast I am going on the highway, or if I am low on fuel, or in any other kind of danger. One evening I was on my way home from a family members house at night and it was raining and I was so afraid. I had no lights on the dashboard, so I had no idea how fast I was going. Also, a new battery was put in the van on 2/14/14, and on 2/17/14 the entire vehicle died on me in the hospital parking garage. I had to have it towed to a repair shop. They said that the battery was not supporting the electrical system in the car, even though it was the battery that was recommended by the vehicle manual. I travel a lot with my church and am so afraid that this vehicle is going to leave me stranded on the highway or worst. The wheels at times seem as though they are about to come off. I put two brand new tires on it when I purchased it. The tire company said the other two were okay, so why does it shake and feel as though they are coming off? the sliding door on the driver side does not open, and the radio lighting works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. I was told not to use the radio because it causes the battery to run down. . . There are just too many problems with this fairly new vehicle. I am concerned about having an accident when the car suddenly shuts off, or the dashboard suddenly stops working in a rain storm or at night when I cannot see, or worst, being involved in an accident and trapped because the only way out is the passenger door on the driver's side that doesn't work. . . Or the wheels coming off while driving at 70 mph. A recall of this vehicle is definitely needed!.

19 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 01/06/2014

The check engine light came on and driveability was affected; reduced acceleration and reduced gas mileage, code 0404. Our technician found that the electrical contacts in the egr valve had failed. Since gm does not produce the replacement parts for this model, a newer egr valve, harness and computer reprogramming was necessary. The gm dealer and chevy customer service refused to help under our warranty coverage since we were out of the emissions time limit. Our tech indicated that gm has had serious egr valve failures and refuses to acknowledge this design defect except with an obscure tech bulletin. Repairs cost upwards of 800 dollars.

20 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 11/15/2013

In the last couple weeks I've noticed that my door locks are not unlocking when pressing the all door lock release button. I went to the store on Saturday, November 16, 2013 and was locked inside the car for 45 minutes. There is only one key entry on the entire car, driver door. (my remote has not worked since I bought the car used in March 2012. ) I had to flag a person down in the parking lot and have them use the key to open the door. Because this is a fire/safety hazard, and I have 3 small children, I am afraid to drive the vehicle anywhere.

21 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

1) multiple occurrences of a) check theft system alarm dings and lights up b) all other trouble lights on instrument panel flash on and off c) after few mins the entire instrument panel becomes inoperable including the mileage and ac will also go off. . . No rpm, no fuel ind no temp no oil pressure. . All this will stay off until car is left off for few mins then it all repeats itself over and over. 22 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 05/14/2013

Drove the van home that same night, before we pulled in the drive way , the van over heated ,the brakes had a spongy feel to them after 15 mins of driving , tempturae gauge never went pass the half way make when the red indicator came on on the van totally shut down no power , I almost flip the van over. I have replace the brake twice in 3 weeks of each other. Then light on the dash came on when tempturae were cold , rainy, foggy, out side , and when it got hot tempturae out side the dash light at night time started to flicker on and off ,then about 30 seconds later the dash lights stayed off and never came back on. Also the van started to have engine not wanted to turn over, and would also loss all power to vichele leaving us stranded out in horrible weather conditions outside with are childern.

24 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 02/18/2013

On Feb 18, 2013 my door came off on my Uplander, along with numerous electrical error messages at the same time. I had my vehicle in the shop for over 3 weeks until I finally was able to pick up. I also had the engine stability and the air pressure monitor and air bag, and traction control repaired costing a total of $2,336. 00 dollars of repairs completed. After reading other complaints on this vehicle, I am trying to trade in my vehicle where I purchased it, but I owe more then what it was appraised for. I have asked the dealer for a trade, but they are not working with me. I am afraid for the safety of my family, and other vehicles on the road when operating this vehicle. Please, do not take this complaint lightly, and assist me in making GMC replace my vehicle as soon as possible.

25 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 12/04/2012

Both motors are out which is fine but know doors are locked and my doors will not open what am I suppose to do if I get in an accident and my children get stuck in the vehicle. This happened in 6 /2012 too I paid for the one to be opened and 1 week later it did it again so the right passenger door has been stuck since and I think this is ridiculous and a hazard to my children.

26 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

Since winter of 2012, I have replaced 3 thermostats, 2 heater coils, flushed radiator numerous times and still have no heat. Mechanic is beside himself for an answer. The radiator gets plugged up with what looks like mud, which results in another radiator flush. He says radiator is ok because it's not overheating. What am I to do? I love my van but want heat. Please help sincerely.

27 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 09/30/2012

While driving the exterior and interior lights will dim and/or flicker. Voltage does not stay consistent. When stopping the radio will blink off, and the cd changer will make ejecting noises like a tape player. If any accessories "are" actually plugged in you will get static and electrical whining from the speakers. Vehicle will give hard start issues after experiencing the light dim and flicker issue. I have already had all the plugs and wires replaced at the dealership for these issues.

28 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

All the lights in the vehicle flicker while the engine is running, it is so bad that other vehicles will flash their lights at me.

29 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 06/17/2012

I bought my Uplander at dealership milage was at 24,000. The door would open and not close we finally got this fixed I hope. Just yesterday at milage 45,000 we had to replace tie rod on passenger side. Found out that it did not have grease pin on it called manufactor and they say someone had to have replaced it. I do not believe it had ever been replaced and this is what is causing tire wear and vibrations in the Uplanders which also could cause accidents even deaths. Also when driving all lights will go off until you hit brakes I have had diagnotics checked to see if anything would show up. Nothing does. So this is a major concern also . There seems to be the same problems listed from almost everyone and some of these things could cost consumers their life or their families. While I like the Uplander I am concerned that the safety issues are not being handled by manufactor and no one seems to care. What will it take to make this vehicle safe.

30 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 05/20/2012

A driver parked her vehicle such that the rear of her vehicle was facing downhill. She thought she placed the vehicle in park and turned the ignition off. She left the key in the ignition and began to clean the interior of the vehicle from the front passenger side. Her two year old son was standing on the driver¿s seat. While she was cleaning the interior, she heard a ¿click and the vehicle began to roll backwards. She was unable to stop the vehicle from rolling backwards. She was injured by stationary objects located outside and along the path of the moving vehicle. A review of the operation of the gear shift lever found the following: in this vehicle, it was possible to position the gear shift lever between the park and reverse positions. In this intermediate position, the gear shift lever engaged the parking pawl in the transmission system which prevented the vehicle from moving. However, the gear shift lever was not locked in position, and the lever was movable. A force was necessary to overcome the resistance holding the lever in the intermediate position. The force could have been caused by lever contact or vehicle jostling. The lever moved, and the parking pawl released the wheels allowing the vehicle to move. In normal park mode, the operator may place the gear shift lever in park and the lever will lock. In order to take the vehicle out of park, the ignition key needs to be in either the accessory or run position and the brake pedal must be depressed. A driver may then move the unlocked gear shift lever out of park. The vehicle cannot be taken out of park without first intentionally depressing the brake pedal. It was possible to bypass this process in this vehicle. The gear shift lever could be placed in an intermediate position between park and reverse where the wheels were locked, but the lever was not locked.

31 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 03/18/2012

I kept getting false codes when using test meter to diagnose and repair vehicle after replacing fuel pump evap canister gas cap plugs wires brakes rotors the ecm had it reprogrammed to car I was still having the same problems after careful inspection I found under the drivers side pasanger seat a series of lines that just simply plug through the vehicle exposed to all elements when driving I carefully unplugged the wires and noticed that they were all corroded and not functional while noticing this I had noticed its proximity to the fuel tank and fuel rails just days prior to my repairs I had smelled some burning smell it is to my opinion that this is not only a saftey issue because its closeness to fuel rails and tanks but it is poor design in the manufacturing of the vehicle I now have a vehicle that sits in my driveway that I am afraid to put my family in because of the oppourtunity to explode at any given time or catch electrical fire at the very least I have pics of the wires removed as well as the location of the wires please help sincerely jessie wright.

32 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 02/15/2012

I purchased the vechile in 2010. I didn't have any problems with the doors at this time. About 6 months later they would open by themselves when in park. Or they would not close a dinging noise would sound and the door would open back up when tring to close it. I didn't think much about it at this time because it only did this when in park and after playing with it for a while we could eventually get them to stay closed. Well, a couple of days ago and again today, the door opened while I was driving 65 miles per hour going down the interstate with my 2 kids in the back seat. My daughter who is 6 screamed bloody murder as I panically hit the brakes and telling my other daughter who is 8 to grab her arm, hold tight and do not let go. I got off and pulled to the side of the interstate break down lane. Took a couple of minutes to gather my self and calm my children. I put the kids in the very back and buckled them in. My main concern is my children's safety. I bought this van for the family and it has now turned into a horrible nightmare. I am now putting the kids in the very back, which thank goddness because this happened again today. I am still making payments on the van and cannot afford to get another car. We now have another baby on the way and I am not quite sure what we are to do because this will put one of the kids having to sit in the path of danger when the baby is born. I have paperwork in the van from where the previous owner of the van has already replaced the doors because of them opening when she was driving. The fix must have not solved the problem because now here my family sits with the same concern on the same doors. This is a real concern and if something isn't done about it a child's life may be lost. Van owners purchase vans for the room of their growing family and should feel that there kids are safe when in it.

33 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 12/01/2011

The vehicle will hesitate to take off after engaging a forward gear. Sometimes it will take off normally, sometimes it will shudder and buck before, or while attempting to go, and sometimes it will just sit there and do nothing but increase the engine rpms, when the rpms are back to normal it might take off or it might not. The transmission has been serviced, fluid change, not sure if the dealership changed the filter.
