38 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 02/04/2010

I have a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander LS minivan. When driving in wet weather when I have to drive through standing water, such as in an intersection, I loose all power. Especially the power steering. I also get a "charging system failure" alert on my dashboard. In a few moments the power will return. This happens every time I drive through any standing water. I have taken the vehicle into the Chevrolet dealer and have been told that they cannot find anything wrong, defective or out of place.

40 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 09/15/2009

Both automatic sliding side doors would open with no warning traveling 55 mph, afraid my triplet grand children or my 2 dogs would fall out, the dogs did get out one day when the doors opened by their self, one of my dogs ran across the busy street. Automobile ran over top of him but lucky the vehicle straddled him and he excepted with out injury. I have questioned several other owners that owns the same van and they also was having the same problem, but could not get it solved and gave up. I had the vehicle back to our local chevy dealer in ashland, ky 41101, the first time in it worked for about a week, then started doing the same thing again, second time in said they could not get the doors to malfunction, but they opened again by themselves 2 days later after getting it back from the dealer ship. I have had many other problems with this vehicle, all but 2 have been solved, but the most serious one with the doors coming open is still going on as of today July 12th, 2014.

41 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 06/01/2009

Purchased a 2006 Chevrolet Uplander lt in August 2006. Currently have 45,000 miles and is out of warranty. Since it was purchased, we have had two recurring problems. 1)interior and exterior lights "flicker" at night to the degree that it is a driving distraction and appear to represent the driver flashing their lights. This was taken to the dealer multiple times, and only once under warranty was a part replaced which did not resolve the problem. Now dealer continues to state that they cannot replicate the problem. 2)automatic sliding doors will not open or stay closed. This is a safety hazard as they also will no longer close completely. We have taken to the dealer numerous times and it is apparent that they no longer know what to do. We have replaced several parts trying to resolve the problem. Their last resolution was to turn off the automatic door feature. The problems are identical on both doors. Several times we have been away from home and doors would not close and we could not manually close them. We asked dealer to contact gm for assistance with this issue and they advised that there is nothing they can do.

42 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 02/19/2009

Lights on my Uplander go out while driving at night. When I bought it in 2005 it happened maybe every 2 months. Now it is twice a week. I can't drive safely at night. Other times they flicker and grow very dim.

43 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 01/12/2009

The sliding door on rear passenger side of van would not close without the 'open door bell' beeping constantly (even after closed). Sometimes after re-closing, it would stop but this eventually became a constant happening. We live in PA. And were in FL. When this first happened, so we took it to a dealer to have it fixed. Approx. A year later, the same thing happened. Again, after opening and closing the door a number of times the beeping would sometimes stop, but when we needed to use the door, it would repeat. We took it to the dealer the second time to have it repaired. Now, we are experiencing the same thing again and the beeping will not stop! this is way too expensive for us to handle. We are seniors and cannot afford to pay for this kind of defect. Please help us!.

44 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 01/02/2009

The rear sliding doors open while driving, do not shut all the time and the alarm telling you the door is open goes off all the time when the doors are closed.

45 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 12/09/2008

Dash indicator shows side sliding door is open, when it is not. Bells ding, inside lights come on, doors become inoperative from inside vehicle. Has occurred approximately 50 times. We have had in shop somewhere between 10 and 15 times, both door modules have been replaced, and body control module now being replaced. Chevrolet states that it doesn't set a trouble code, so they have no record of the occurences, though service department manager has seen this happen in person. My concern is when this happens, my wife, myself and or children cannot get out of the vehicle, and I feel this is unsafe. Chevrolet does not agree that this is unsafe. I really want to move on to another vehicle, but Chevrolet will not assist. The vehicle is paid for, free and clear, so this is not an issue of owing money and wanting out. Chevrolet should make the vehicle safe, and is not doing anything to ensure this. They have been handling this under warranty, but this last time vehicle is in shop for two weeks - no loaner, no alternative transportation for us.

46 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 10/17/2008

My 2006 chevy Uplander has an intermittent electrical problem with the headlights and gas gauge, lights flicker or shut off, gas gauge will read near empty if van is parked on a hill facing downward . . It will read again if I add a small amount of gas. . I would not trust the gauge. . I see many people have the same two problem and gm has not issued a recall. . Both problem can be very hazardous in night time highway driving. .

47 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 09/26/2008

I purchased a 2006 chevy Uplander in 12/06 with 20,543 miles on it. I began having problems with the steering about 3,000 miles after purchasing it. It was difficult to steer to the left and there was a grinding noise as I turned. The dealership replaced the steering column. I am having problems again with the steering, and it shakes and makes noise when I pull into parking lots. At about 30,000 miles, the rear sliding doors began to open on their own. When I put the van into reverse and begin to back out of the driveway, the doors sometimes will open. Parked in the driveway and parking lots with no one in the vehicle, the driver's rear door has opened. After I close the doors, they will immediately open, although no buttons have been pushed. Now, at 43,000 miles, the driver's rear sliding door will not close. I pushed the button inside the door as I always have to close it, as well as the overhead button, and the door would not close. Each time I pushed the button, the already open door pulled back as if still trying to open the door. When I tried to manually pull the door closed, it would not close. After 5 minutes of work, I finally got the door closed. The next day, 9/27/08, I experienced the same thing, and on this day as well, a chiming sound rang the entire trip. There is one sound for driving and a different sound for waiting at red lights. The loud ringing never stopped. When I called the dealership, they told me I was no longer under warranty, and will have to pay to have it fixed. I also discovered at 35,000 miles that my tires have worn unevenly on the outside edges of all 4 tires and need to be replaced. Also, the sway bar is in need of repair. I have children ages 2 and 4. I am concerned for their safety.

48 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 08/15/2008

The automatic doors on our 2005 chevy Uplander open by themselves, the alarms go off saying they are not shut, and if the driver's side rear door is opened, it takes about a half hour to get it to shut again.

49 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 08/01/2008

When driving my minivan the door on the side will fly open, also the gauges will stop working so you cannot tell how fast you are going, I have had my car in at least 5 times the last year.

50 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 07/11/2008

This complaint covers many components of the chevy Uplander that has spanned over the three years that we have owned the van. All problems are "unable to be diagnosed" by dealerships and chevy refuses to help us. I have been in contact with chevy from about the second time that the van went to the shop for electrical problems. We have had electrical problems that vary from the lights flickering to the fans output changing to the radio not allowing you to program in a station on one preset button, we are also currently having an abs issue and have had a non gm mechanic look at the van and said it is ok. The passenger side auto sliding door does not always automatically open and sometimes does not close either, when you manually shut it will open by itself several times before it stays shut. We are currently and have for some time had a problem with starting the van this is also something that "can't be diagnosed" it has been looked at many times. The problems happens about 15-20 times a week. We did purchase the extended warranty on the van and it is now about up and I am at a loss as to what to do because nobody wants to help even though it is clear I am not the only one . Please let me know if there is any other way to fight this. The drivers sliding door doesn't always unlock either unless done by hand.

51 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 06/15/2008

Vehicle has occasional flickering headlights. There are other occasional electrical system problems that last for one day only, but all day, and the next day are gone, until they repeat, but only for one day, every time. These are: the radio will not work; the alarm audible signal and dash indicator light for the parking brake being on will sound when driving, even though parking brake is not on; and the rear heater fan will come on and stay on at high speed even though it is switched off at the dash. Have taken the van to two dealers and they could not duplicate. Took vehicle to dealer service manager while the rear fan was blowing on its own. He observed the problem, but I had to make an appointment for the next week, and then, of course, the fan was not blowing. I now open the fuse box under the hood and pull the rear heater blower fan fuse when this happens; and replace the fuse in the morning of the following day when (I know by now) the problem is corrected. . . Until the next time it happens again. The odd thing is that these three problems will only last for one day. But they will last the whole day. The parking brake alarm will sound sporadically at the start of the day, but will be a constant ringing while being driven as the day goes on. But the next day the problem is gone, until it happens again, weeks or months later.

52 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 01/17/2008

The car has an automatic sliding door that does not always close. When we try to manually close it the automatic mechanism kicks in and opens the door back up. If we are able to get the door closed the bell dings inside the car indicating that the door is open, even though it is not. This has been an ongoing problem for the past two years. Several parts were replaced on the door at the dealership and it worked temporarily but now the door is not working again. I bought an extended warranty when the car hit the 36000 mile mark because I knew I would continue to have problems. The car has been in service probably 10-15 times since it was purchased 3 years ago. The engine light also comes on at random for no apparent reason.

53 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 01/08/2008

When I let off the accelerator the lights flicker and the blower slows down. Also, sometimes when I try to start it, the engine won't start.

54 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 01/07/2008

The contact is leasing a 2007 Chevrolet up lander. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a change of temperature, the back wiper failed, exterior lighting failed and the blower fan failed. The dealer was unable to duplicate any of the failures. The current mileage was 17,297 and failure mileage was 14,000.

55 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 11/20/2007

The rear power doors on my 2006 Uplander have constantly needed service. There have been times the door alarm goes off when the door is not actually open, we have to pull over and reset the doors by opening and closing them. The roller bearings have been replaced twice on the drivers slider. Both doors have been serviced at least 10 times for improper closing, faulty sensor alarm dinging even when the doors are closed, sometimes it takes many attempts for the doors to close. The driver side door almost came completely off when the roller bearings broke. These doors are unsafe and beyond defective.

56 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 07/24/2007

We have had several issues with the doors not closing and have taken the vehicle in several times. The service dept. Couldn't duplicate the problem. Apparently gm knows about the problem because the last time we were in there they told us there was an internal service bulletin about re-routing wires and possible module replacement, all of which was done to our vehicle. It is going back in again 7-27-07 for the same problem. Our Uplander also has a problem of the door locks rapidly locking and unlocking at various times while driving, and all of the lights will flicker and dim. One instance while driving at night all lights went out briefly and came back on, extremely dangerous! something has to be done. We live in michigan, you'd think there wouldn't be a problem in the motor city.

57 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 07/08/2007

We purchased a 2007 Chevrolet Uplander new with 20 miles on it. Now it only has 3,500 mile on it, the passenger rear electric sliding door opened partially by itself while parked. Then ,it would not close electrically , and you can ot close it manually. The door finally closed, but then would not open or would only partially open and not close or would partially close and reopen. The van was taken to dealer for repair, and the mechanic said he had seen this two other times on a 2007 Uplander. The part was the electric door motor, it shorted out as per the work order. The mechanic at the dealer told us the part was hard to get and they would order it, but it would take an indefinite amount of time to receive the part. Indefinite" was not a good answer for me, so I pressed the sales department to help since this van was brand new. Then, the service department said it would take 10 days to get the part. Upon trying to leave the dealer the van's warning bell chimed loudly and constantly. So a mechanic had to remove a fuse to make it stop. Because the door/alarm fuse had to be removed that also disabled the radio, dvd player, onstar, and the van's internal cell phone. None of them worked until the door was fixed. The dealer service department called and indicated the van will be returned to the garage this week to have the electric door motor replaced. I believe it was a hazard that the electric door could not be opened manually, in any evevent, whether it is working correctly or not. Also, it should not take so long for a part to be replaced when it has to do with passenger safety.

58 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 09/29/2006

Sliding doors would start to automatically open on road and later on freeway. Now, when wear seat belt it catches on seat control and starts to move seat.

59 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 08/20/2006

After I purchased the vehicle (nesmith Chevrolet - hinesville), the first time driving it at night I noticed that the headlights and interior lights fluctuated when pressure was placed on the engine. When I took it back to the dealer, they said they could not duplicate. Problem still persists. It is very dangerous at night because some other drivers believe I am flashing at them, and in turn flash their high beams at me, by this time close to me causing me to have to take my eyes off the road. Other times giving large trucks the idea that I am giving them the ok to get back over in front of me, when in fact it isn't. None the less, it is very annoying to be driving down the road at night with the headlights and dash lights fluctuating while applying pressure on the engine. Still to this date nothing has been done.

60 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 07/03/2006

I have a 2005 Uplander that has been back to the dealer four times now for an electrical problem and they tell me now that nothing can be done. The blower fan motor slows down when I am stopping and the head lights dim. The newest problem is that the passenger side auto sliding door open on its own. This has occurred on two different occasions.

61 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 06/19/2006

The day we purchases our chevy Uplander there was a problem with the air conditioning. The dealership replaced the o ring on the compressor and recharged the freon. After 2 and a half weeks of owning the vehicle and 750 miles on the vehicle I went on a trip to houston, TX with my 2 year old. The air began to blow steam and stopped working. I called my dealership and they advised me to call on star. They advised me where the closest dealership was I stopped there and they said they thought it was the actuator and they reset the computer and the air was working again. Two more times the air stop working on my trip. I stopped the car at my grandfather's house and a gas station and it reset it's self and the air began to work. I brought it to tomball parkway chevy. And after 2 days of driving short distances they could not duplicate the problem. They contacted the manufacturer and they said they were aware there is a problem. They have received other complaints around the us but were not sure how to fix the problem yet. I travel frequently with my child I can not ride in 105 degree heat with her. How do I solve the problem when I am not comfortable having only had the car 3 weeks now?.

62 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 04/15/2006

I have a 2006 chevy Uplander lt and I started to have problems around 3,000 miles of ownership. It started with electrical issues (hard drive entertainment system, gas gauge, dimming lights, radio losing settings, hard starts, service abs, and service traction control) and gradually moved to mechanical issues (clucking noises ? front end, vibrations ? front end, steering binding, and grinding noises from the front end). What has been replaced in hopes of fixing the issues are the hard drive to the entertainment system, main computer module (twice and reprogrammed several times), steering column, steering box, rack and pinion, front stabilizing control arms, front brake, front rotors resurfaced, abs control module (never fixed the service abs and service traction control). The dealer still can?t explain the grinding noise and is trying to convince me that it is normal characteristics of the van (they actually wrote that in the service report). They can not resolve the service abs and traction control errors. They can?t resolve the hard starts. The dealer has taken a position that no more diagnostic work will be performed to the front end until I replace a cupped tire (their opinion). I have hired a lemon law attorney to help with my problem.

63 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 03/06/2006

: the contact stated while driving at night the headlights flickered upon accelerating or while driving uphill. The vehicle was seen by a dealer. The dealer performed a diagnostic test but was unable to duplicate to the problem. Updated 3/22/2006 -.

64 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 11/30/2005

This 2005 chevy Uplander has had electrical problems since I took it off the showroom floor, from all lights flashing interior dash and exterior as well. Fuel system lights as well as just about every other failure warnings inside this vehicle, to no fuel just after fill up, to service abs system and door opens on and off since I owned it, every time I brought it in for service they told me that it needs to be happening at that time otherwise they cant fix it!! just now after seeing all the complaints about this poor made piece of s. . It. I had to have my head examined to buy this car off the lease I had. As the only owner of the car I know its not my lack of maintenance cause the problems, its the multi billion dollar gm should be held accountable for this. Someone please help us with this issue, and bail us out just like gm has been, were just average people trying to get by.

65 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 09/19/2005

My wife had driven from our home 7 miles away to the maggie moo's ice cream shop. She went in to the store to purchase some ice cream for my kids and her mom who stayed in the vehicle which was left running because of the heat. When she returned she backed the vehicle up with no problem but when she attempted to pull forward she heard the wrongest noise emanate from the front of the vehicle she has ever heard and the vehicle jumped and bumped and came to a grinding halt. I did not think it could have been so bad as she explained to me when I arrived. So I backed the vehicle out of the parking space that she managed to get to and pulled forward. Oh my god! what she had explained to me wasn't even as bad as I experienced. The stability control activation message appeared in the dash display and the antilock brakes on the driver side front wheel began to growl then screeched the vehicle to a grinding halt. I was scared. My kids were thrown around in the car since they had unbuckled their seat belts while eating their ice cream. I made them buckle up and I tried it again. The same result over and over again until I finally got to a parking space. I called Chevrolet to come tow the vehicle in to repair my 2005 Uplander. They called me the next day and informed me that they found no problem and that the error codes pulled from the computer showed not error ever happened. This scares the hell out of me and my wife refuses to drive the vehicle. Our fear of this malfunction occurring at highway speeds could result in catastrophic results. I am in contact with gm but they are so far unwilling to admit or take any action to resolve this safety issue. I need help!!! we all need to know if there is a major problem with the stabilitrak system being deployed on these new vehicles. Please take this up and open an immediate investigation. I am documenting this malfunction everywhere I can think to because no one needs to die because of a defect.

66 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 07/13/2005

The rear passenger door of my 2005 chevy Uplander was open. I started the automatic door (to close). My 22 month old daughter started towards me. I put my hand inside the door to stop her. The door continued to close. I pushed against it with my forearm. The door continued to close, and closed on my hand. My left hand was trapped in the closed door. A part was ordered three months ago, but the door still has not been fixed.

68 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 12/23/2004

We were taking vacation last December going thru the mountains and it was very foggy. You could barely see the road and we noticed the headlights and interior lights were flickering. The following week I took it to my dealership to let them fix the problem they did let me know that they were aware of a problem. They showed me a paper stating that gmac was trying to correct the problem. This was last December and it is now June and still no solution. This could cause a accident especially when you are driving in foggy weather. I really hope someone can find a the solution to the problem or I might just take the vehicle to the dealer parking lot and park it until the solution is fixed.
