Two problems related to brake pedal and linkage have been reported for the 1997 Chevrolet Venture. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
On three occasions at the first braking of the car after start up, the engine accelerated at a high rate of speed. This was due to the fact that the brake pedal went below the accelerator pedal. The right foot was not squarely on the brake pedal. Turned the engine off. The brake deflection measured was within that specified in the repair manual. Brake pedal deflection after the first braking did not go below the level of the accelerator pedal.
The brake pedal and the gas pedal sit at approximately the same height. This could pose a problem in an emergency.
