Air Bag Not Deploy Problems of Chevrolet Venture - part 1

Was driving forward coming up to an intersection and approaching a red light when the brakes went out . When trying to stop and push the brake down it started shaking and the brake came up and then when pushed it back down it went to the floor and the brakes were completely out. Them going out caused us to roll through the intersection causing us to get hit by a vehicle coming through the light, spinning us around and got hit more than once. Hit us on both sides of vehicle and windows were shattered out but not one air bag went off/deployed at all and the vehicle was totalled. There were 3 babies in the vehicle when the air bags did not deploy.

The contact owned a 2005 Chevrolet Venture. While driving approximately 35 mph in the rain, the vehicle hydroplaned to the left and then back to its lane. The rear tires rolled off the road and caused the vehicle to crash into a ditch. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. Takata recall I was driving and ran off the edge of the road and over corrected myself an hit an inbankment head on and my face went into the steering wheel and then was thrown for the van out the back passenger window and the van then landed on my foot before I hit the road due to air bag never deploying my nose was torn about off my face and brook 4 ribs fractured 5 and my foot and ankle and foot was badly damaged my seat belt was put on but for some reason didn't work.

Driver of veh. #1 2003 chev Venture LS was east bound through a controled intersection, when veh. 2 a 1997 Jeep was west bound in into the intersection and made an abrup left turn in front of veh. #1. Both vehicles struck each other in the left front corner of each vehicle. Veh. #1 was declared totalled by travelers insurance CO. The lf portion of the van was shoved back in to the motor, radiator, along with the lf wheel and assembly. The drivers airbag did not deploy from the near head on crash.

This complaint is being filed on behalf of the vehicle owner and driver. This chevy Venture was involved in a two vehicle, head-on crash vs. A chevy silverado. Both front seat occupants in the Venture were killed in the crash. Both front airbags in the Venture failed to deploy even though the impact was substantial enough to cause fatal injuries. The airbags in the silverado did deploy.

We were traveling north bound going about 60 mph on hwy 99 just north of sacramento. An ambulance cut in front of us and slowed down. 2005 Chevrolet ventura. Consumer writes in regards to non-deployment of air bags. The consumer stated his father and step-mother were involved in an accident. I bought my chevy Venture new with 10 miles on it in 2003 thought this van was safe had a head on collision with a tree 40-45 miles an hour the air bags did not deploy if not for wearing my seat belt don't know what would have happened . .

I was turning through a left bend on a residential road at approximately 45 mph. Posted speed 40 mph, when the rear axle split at the drivers side hub. This caused me to spin around and crash between a power pole and a tree. My air bags never deployed even with frontal impact and both side door impacted. We walked away with minor whiplash and a few bumps here and there, but the van was totaled with less than 31,000 miles on it and it was well maintained.

I was avoiding a head on collision with another vehicle that had swerved into my lane of traffic. My vehicle went to the right down into a ditch proceeded into a culvert and embankment, over a residence driveway and head on into a utility pole. The impact with the utility pole was just to the side of dead center in the front. The driver and passenger air bags did not deploy. The van has been claimed as a total lost by insurance.

Had intermitant airbag light, repaired by dealer under warranty. Dealer fixed drivers side seat belt retractor. Then had 40 mph front end crash, front and side airbags failed to deploy. Sdm has history of failure on this van. Contacted gm, they stated 'no issue - case closed'. Needs to be addressed. I am an automotive engineer, all conditions should have been met in this crash for airbag deployment.

My daughter and I were involved in a collision at approx 65mph with a 24' flatbed trailer that detached itself from a vehicle headed the opposite direction. My van had severe frontal/right frontal damage. On star was notified upon impact-by the air bag deployment sensors-and dispatched ems for me. The driver, passenger and side air bags did not deploy. The on star system shows they did.

Without prior warning while vehicle was sitting at a stop light. Another vehicle hit consumer's vehicle from behind on a 45 mph impact. Upon impact, driver side and passenger side airbags did not deploy.

I own a 2000 Chevrolet Venture minivan. Recently, my airbag light would go on and off while driving. I brought the minivan into my mechanic who today diagnosed a malfubction in the driver's side airbag pretentioner. What prompted me to write this complaint is that when the mechanic called to order a new part, the parts distributor told him that this is a very common problem on Chevrolet Ventures and that he sells many replacement pretentioner units for chevy Ventures. As a defect in the airbag pretentioner could have fatal consequences in the event the airbag fails to deploy as a result of the defective pretentioner, I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this issue and require chevorlet to reimburse me for the costs and expenses incurred in replacing the defective pretentioner. Thank you for your consideration of this matter.

Several months later, consumer's son swerved to avoid hitting a deer. Vehicle rolled into a ditch, flipped on its roof, and slid down an embankment. Seat belts were worn, but the air bags failed to deploy. Driver sustained minor injuries .

Was driving vehicle at approximately 35 mph when vehicle in front stopped short. Applied brakes and pedal went to the floor, failing to stop vehicle. Vehicle in front was rear-ended. Air bags failed to deploy upon impact. Please describe details.

The consumer had accident and was seriously injured as the result of the air bags failure to deploy. Doors do not open driver has to manually open the door.

Front collision at 45-50 mph, passenger's airbag did not deploy; however, driver's airbag deployed and immediatly exploded. Neck/jaw/back injuries to passenger. Driver sustained injuries to chest and neck areas. Vehicle was totalled.

Consumers wife,driver of vehicle, experienced bruising from restraint belts, and passengers in other vehicle sustained unknown injuries. No determination has been made for cause of air bag failure. Dash warning light for the airbag came on a started up and stayed on, control modulator for the airbag was bad causing system failure. The airbag will not deploy in an accident.

Air bag light comes on when air bag is not deployed. Once the light is light, it remains light until vehicle is turned off. Three year old vehicles should not experience intermittant reliability problems.
