Driving on a driveway (estimated speed 5-10 mph) when I noted that the driver side door didn't seem completely closed. I tugged on the door handle to shut it and instantaneously felt the driver-side side airbag deploy, scraping my left forearm, left ear, and rupturing the left eardrum. There had been no collision or accident involving the car or any other structure. The vehicle has not been in a prior accident, and has not had additional electric work performed to any of its systems since manufacturing. The vehicle is available for inspection, it has not been inspected yet by a manufacturer or dealer, and the airbag affected my safety by causing physical harm due to faulty deployment.

My 1998 Chevrolet Venture was in an accident sustaining major damage. There was a direct hit to the right headlamp with the pole and the van ended up landing on the driver's side skidding on the road. None of the 4 airbags deployed. Has there been a recall on them or has there been any other complaints about this vehicle?.
I was involved in a accident in my 2001 Chevrolet Venture. We where driving at a speed of 45 mph, when a car pulled out in front of us. We hit him broadside at 30-45 mph. Our vehicle then spun around and was hit broadside on the drivers side by another vehicle. The front nor the side passenger airbags deployed. Our vehicle was totaled.

Traveling 45-50 mph with green light in 2001 chevy Venture Mini-van, car turned abruptly in front of us, we struck them in the passenger side. All 4 in our vehicle wearing seat belts but neither airbag deployed. Both vehicles were totaled.
I noticed a smell of hot antifreeze. Also it would make a lot of noise when starting up. The thermostat never showed anything overheating. Oil didn't show anything on the dipstick. We change the oil every 3000 miles. The dealership that tore into it had said we did not change the oil ever by the looks of the internals. We bought this used 1999 chevy Venture lt , August 2000 having 34,000 miles on it already. The previous owner bought this van in October 1998 brand new. How could a vehicle have to have a motor dropped in with only 57,000 on it and have had done everything possible to keep everything in working order. This is not our first chevy, our whole family buys chevys. Just to brag we have 13, and all of them maintained well. One even having over 200,000 miles on it,1995 chevy astro. Anyway, I watch the gauges very closely and never did I see anything wrong.

My 1997 Chevrolet Venture was in the driveway no one in it and not running when the passenger air bag suddenly deployed. I was told it was a wiring defect and would cost more than the car was worth to fix it!! apparently water got into the wire harness. How is this my fault? thank god my kids were not in the car!!!.

The "pretensioner" of the seatbelt system on my 1998 Chevrolet Venture has failed now for the third time. According to the dealer this means the restraint system will not function properly in the event of a crash. The alert light that warns of trouble in the air bag system seems to revert to normal after a couple of weeks, but when the dealer uses the proper test equipment it can be determined the unit has failed. It seems likely that many Ventures are being used with failed pretensioners and their owners are unaware of the issue since all indications from the alert light is that the air bag system is functioning properly. This is the third time this issue has happened on my vehicle in less than five years and Chevrolet customer assistance is refusing to address the issue.
Passenger sliding door window shattered while driving for no reason at all. Nothing hit the window and it just popped loudly and shattered.
This is the fifth safety related major problem with this vehicle -- any could have killed us -- I will try to get dates for the others which include: the van died twice while in use, the recalled power sliding door and the airbag sytem failure.
