Also there was a puddle of water on the frontal floor board. The vehicle was taken to a local repair facility and a mechanic replaced the heater core. Immediately after the repair the engine overheated. The vehicle was re-inspected in which the mechanic concluded that the head gaskets failed. The vehicle has not been repaired. 2 Engine Head Gasket Failure problem of the 1997 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 01/20/2006

Had head gasket replaced last year. Recently the van stalled and was told that anti-freeze had been leaking into the cylinders, and I needed a new engine. Was also told that the new engine not only could but would have this same problem at some point. Was also told that this is a common problem among these vehicles.

4 Engine Head Gasket Failure problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 07/14/2004

5 Engine Head Gasket Failure problem of the 1998 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 02/20/2004

Driving down the highway my van over heated and stalled with no prior warning. I had to replace my head gaskets, lower intake, all my spark plugs and spark plug wires. I had no leaks that I was aware of. Nothing on the gorund to even suspect a leak. Apparently I was leaking so bad internally that 2 of my spark plugs crapped out and my van refused to run. From what I read this is a fairly common complaint among Venture owners. I really love my van but this flaw will prevent me from buying another one, which I fully intended on doing in a few year. Sorry gm but I'll go with a Honda next time.

10 Engine Head Gasket Failure problem of the 1999 Chevrolet Venture

Failure Date: 02/15/2003

I have discovered coolant in the engine oil. My coolant is disappearing, and I have been forced to top it off. The engine is making ticking noises, and running roughly. I have done a quick check on the internet to see if others are experiencing this problem, and found that it seems to be a common problem, and that gm is aware of this. They have redesigned the head gasket to correct this problem, but have not offered to fix this problem on my car. Chevy denied that there is a widespread problem, and refused to help cover the necessary repair (they said that because I had around 70,000 miles it was too far out of warrantee). It cost in the range of $815 to replace the head gasket. As a side note, the air bag light turned on intermittently after I got the car back, and now is on steady. I told my next door neighbor about it, and it turned out they also had the same problem. They had an even larger bill ( I don't remember how much), and they have another friend who has the same problem. . .
