Transmission began shifting hard in March 2012 (69998 miles on vehicle). Progressed to, slipping when starting to move from stop, and would catch abruptly causing a lurch forward. I had the trouble codes read, found po-1811 stored in vehicle computer. Contacted chevy dealer, and was told transmission was bad. The dealer strongly suggested a new transmission over repair/rebuild, estimates ranged from $2700. 00 to repair, or $3000. 00 to rebuild, and $3400. 00 for new. Also, was told the old transmission would be kept by gm as a "core" even when buying a "new" transmission. Contacted gm customer service, and was offered a teardown and inspection at $1500. 00 my cost, without any promise of assistance from gm. From that point, I could choose between repair/rebuild, or new transmission at regular prices (example: for a new transmission $2100. 00 + $1500. 00 for teardown = $3600. 00, or $4200. 00 for repair, and $4500. 00 for rebuild). At that point gm would review the defective transmission details for possible monetary compensation. The criteria for gm's decision includes "could the failure have been prevented, by action/s from the owner". Was also informed by the dealer service writer, gm requests owners service the transmission at 100,000 mile intervals and no other service is required for proper maintenance. Further, I was assured I would not have been able to prevent the transmissions failure. Another employee in the same dealerships service department informed me gm is very aware of this transmissions record of premature failure, also that he owns a late model impala, with the same transmission, which is also failing.

I was stopped with the car in park when the engine started reving up and the car started lounging forward. I threw the car into park and it stopped. I looked down and my foot was only on the brake and the floor mat was where it was supposed to be.
I was struck from the back, while taking foot off the brake, I attempted to proceed from a stop sign in shopping mall. Due to delay, from a bad transmission from day 1 when I first purchased vehicle from felix Chevrolet, la CA it holds up traffic. I took my foot off brake after stopping at stop sign and it appeared to driver that I was moving forward. Yet, the delay causes danger from behind and I'm still encountering delays from the date of purchase, 2006 up until now. Felix denied anything was wrong with after I complained and had them test transmission problem within 30 days of purchase. I've been very dissatisfied with performance and quality of vehicle from day one. When accelerating from a stop the vehicle severely jerks. The transmission fluid and filter have been replaced with no change in the condition. The vehicle had around 60,000 miles when I purchased.
We purchased the vehicle used in July 2003. A month later, the low coolant light came on for the extent of a 40 mile trip, but has not appeared since. I took it to the dealer and they told me it was a intake manifold gasket, and the repairs would be $750. The van had only 42000 miles! I refused to pay for any repairs. Upon further investigation, I found out that Chevrolet is well aware of this defect, and that many many other drivers have had the same experience with this engine. I am even more upset that the dealership (ed schmidt Chevrolet maumee, ohio) is part of the consipracy. We were told by the salesman and the dealership this was a good vehicle, and would be very reliable. My husband is in georgia for specialized training for 6 months. We purchased the van upon the recommendation of the dealership so that I would have reliable transportation while my husband is out of state. That has not happened.

I change new transmission from the same date, but nothing changed, every time the light come on the reading in the computer scaner, always is a fault in the transmission and the shop can't find anything wrong in the transmission. The shop just reset the light. They don't know what's the problem.
Transmission lost all pressure resulting in gears not shifting. Violent gear shifting. Transmission should not have gone out on a 2 year vehical. Had transmission replaced with oem transmission by the dealership. 3year 50,000 mile warranty.
