The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Venture. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, he approached a stop sign and with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle lunged and then accelerated. The engine rpms increased rapidly during the failure. The vehicle decelerated after repeated attempts to apply the brakes. The unexpected acceleration was recurring. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the throttle position sensor was replaced, the fuel system was flushed, and the throttle body cleaned and the cruise control cable was disabled. The failure recurred after the repairs were performed. The vehicle was not further repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000.

My wife was driving through town with our daughter and her parents and as she was coming out of town started to press on the accelerator to get up to speed. All of a sudden the accelerator pedal went to the floor and the throttle was wide open and the pedal was hanging there and was inoperable. Fortunately she wasn't going very fast and was able to put the vehicle in neutral and use the brakes to slow down enough to get off the side of the road and get the vehicle stopped and then her father was able to get under the hood and get the engine to stop revving. The vehicle was towed to the dealership where it was purchased and the accelerator cable was replaced because it had broken. The old part may still be available at the dealership, but I'm not sure.

Driving home from work and the accelerator got stuck in the open position. Car was at full throttle and continuing to accelerate into traffic ahead. Continued placing the car in neutral, braking, and putting it back in drive until I could pull over to a safe spot. Very dangerous situation. Accelerator cable has been replaced, but don't know if damage has occurred to the transmission.

While driving 65 mph the accelerator cable broke. The consumer felt binding in the gas pedal, and the van started decelerating. This almost caused an accident. The cause of the broken accelerator cable is yet to be determined.
While driving at an undetermined speed, the vehicle stalled which caused the driver to pull off the road. Consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealership. Mechanic informed the owner that the accelerator cable snapped.

The throttle cable broke while the consumer was traveling at 30 mph.
While driving, the throttle cable broke and vehicle suddenly accelerated out of control, in the process of trying to stop the vehicle, the brake rotors overheated and burned out, consumer was finally able to regain control of vehicle.
Minivan failed when it raced away out of control at extremely high speed, with owner at the drivers controls, as a result of a small part in a hvac vent support loosening and falling into the apparatus controlling the accelerator cable, causing the accelerator to be stuck in a position of high speed acceleration. Owner tried to stop the minivan and could do so only by jamming on the brake with both feet while operating the vehicle up an inclined exit ramp.
The accelerator cable is frayed preventing the throttle from returning to idle. It appears that the throttle cable housing has a severe bend causing a kink right at the throttle mounting.
