1 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2021

Engine stalled forcing me to cross two lanes of traffic almost getting hit by another car engine light came on would not restart if it did start it sputtered the next day I took it to a dealer who told me the following day it's a crank sensor checking online that seems to be a problem with your engines cost me $500 almost to fix the repair and also I had to wait two days without a car and then pay for 2 days for a rental car I do not understand why this was not covered I could have been hurt severely.

2 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2020

I just had my car pre purchase inspected and it was reported to be in great condition. Then all of the sudden my engine has stalled twice in the last 72hours, when coming to a stop. I am able to turn it back on, however fear for my safety now whenever I drive it. These exact issues have been reported with other 2012 Chrysler 200 models, due to connecting rod bearing failure and I believe this model has been similarly effected. I feel like I should be entitled to a engine recall as well, due to the identical issues that I am experiencing.

3 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2016

The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler 200. While driving approximately 72 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The contact lost control of the vehicle, veered to the left, and crashed into the plastic dividers. The vehicle was able to restart and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle had low oil and the central module needed to be reset. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000. The VIN was unavailable.

4 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2015

The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler 200. While driving approximately 10 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The contact required a jump to restart the vehicle. The engine started and the instrument panel illuminated, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

5 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2013

2012 Chrysler 200. When slowing then accelerating in turn about, the 200 will often stall for a second or two, then proceed. Seems to especially happen when attempting to increase speed quickly to enter traffic. The engine will stall and become unresponsive for a second or two before responding again. This has been unsettling a couple of times. This seems to occur when turning and accelerating. I do not have any issues when accelerating in a straight line. The second speed issue is that the 200 is slow to stop revving when accelerating. On several occasions upon acceleration, when I lifted my foot off of the accelerator, the engine kept revving for a couple of seconds and the car kept speeding up. This has not caused any safety issues.

6 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2013

The Chrysler 200 vehicle that I purchased in April 2012 was brought in again on 7/1/13 for service due to front end clanging metal noises which occur while turning, backing up, slowing and stopping. This undiagnosed noise began following several engine stalling episodes, two of which required towing (since I was unable to restart the vehicle to drive in for service). The engine stalling episodes occurred while driving at 55 mph and as stated, twice resulted in towing and service. Service on the engine stalling problem occurred in April and again in may 2013. It is unclear why the remedy for the engine stalling was not followed per the NHTSA recall id # 11v487000 (engine and engine cooling) technical service bulletin/Chrysler manufacturer remedy- since that recall had already been published. In addition to this safety issue, the front end metal clanging may be the result of towing due to the engine defect and/or a result of another vehicle defect (recall #11v315000 - steering column). This is a vehicle that has multiple problems and poses a serious safety issue due to various problems. It needs to be off the road.

7 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2012

The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while making a left turn at an unkown speed, the engine stalled and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the failure could not be determined. The failure mileage was 5,887 and the current mileage was 8,495.

8 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2012

2. 4 liter 2011 Chrysler 200. When slowing then accelerating in left turn lanes and turn abouts, the 200 will often stall for a second or two, then proceed. Seems to especially happen when attempting to increase speed quickly to enter traffic. The engine will stall and become unresponsive for a second or two before responding again. The entire process is that I brake and slow for the turn or to enter a round about, when there is an opening, I accelerate, the 200 will speed up as expected, then the engine will suddenly stall and become unresponsive for 1-2 seconds, then resume as normal. It only happens when I accelerate quickly. When driving normal, this issue does not occur.

9 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2012

The first time this incident occurred I was preparing to make a left turn off of a busy road. I had just purchased the car and not really thinking something was wrong with my vehicle when the engine stalled. This incident has occurred very often since September of 2012. I have taken my vehicle to the dealership three times for the car stalling and cutting off during low speeds. I'm suppose to take it back again tomorrow but I'm very disappointed to know by reading other complaints the problem will not be fixed. It's very sad someone or multiple people have to die before anything can be done about these cars. I have four kids and I am terrified for them to ride in the car with me. These cars are definitely not safe to be on the highway! someone please offer some help!!!.

10 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2012

The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph in a parking lot, the engine stalled. The contact was unaware whether a warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel when the failure occurred. The engine restarted and resumed as normal. The vehicle was not repaired. There was an open investigation under NHTSA action number pe12016 (engine), which pertained to the 2011 model year vehicles equipped with 3. 6l engine. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 1,150.

11 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 04/02/2012

When going into a stop or a slow down, the engine stalls; this is now the 3rd time chrsyler is looking into it. Car is a 2012 Chrysler convertible s purchased in Feb of 2012 w/ 100 miles. 1st. Happened at ~5k 2nd happened at ~7k in July 18,2012 3rd happened at ~12k oct 8th, 2012 this last time the car died on my 4 times in 5 minutes. Dealer was able to reproduce the error. They are saying it is caused by a asd(v) circuit in which the relay is broken. 1st time they reprogrammed the computer. 2nd time they replaced the part containing the relay. 3rd it is the relay again. It is a major safety concern as I almost got rear ended by a van this time as I was making a legal u-turn.

12 Engine Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2012

The first incident with my brand new 2012 Chrysler 200 was failure to start. I went to start my car and turned the key but the car would not start the engine stalled. I started to turn the key again , again did not turn on. After the third time it began. I brought it to the dealer they said they could not duplicate my problem, contacted Chrysler to see if there was any report of this but they hadn't had any complaints. The dealer then sent me on my way. On April 1st I was driving my 2012 Chrysler 200,658 miles, with my two year old daughter in the car. As I was turning right off of a main street into a the parking lot there was another car moving so at the entrance, I pressed my brakes shortly and put the car in reverse I was not in the other vehicles way so I then proceeded to put the car back in drive but the car would not move. At this time the car was at a complete stop and in the fast moving traffic with my daughters end out in the main street. I have brought my car to the dealer which they have told me they are unable to duplicate the problem and that they spoke with Chrysler and asked for reports but Chrysler said no problems such as mine has been reported. The dealership or Chrysler is helping me in this matter I don't feel safe and I have expressed this to them. I and my daughter are at risk with this vehicle. I feel something is wrong and since the car is not leaving and sensors on after either incident I feel it is not safe to drive. If the car stops on the interstate and stalls or fails to drive my daughter and or I can be killed.
