general problems of the 2016 Chrysler 200 - part 1

I took my car to carman Dodge chrylser dealer located 196 s dupont hwy , new castle DE, 19720. My car was scheduled for a recall repair u90 and power train software update. I took my car in 4-10-25 and it stayed overnight until 4-11-25. When receiving my car I was presented with new issues that caused a no bus code and radio died. My car had no internal issues prior to taking my car to the dealer for recall repairs. I have all the documentation and employees names for the service department. I was told by my advisor lance grey and supervisor joseph troboletti that there is nothing else they can do. Other than these new problems that occurred just so happened to be coincidental. And in order to get things replace I would have to wait until July and I may be eligible for a small discount on the parts. So that means I would have to wait 3 months to get repairs and drive a car with my children with no working windows , radio and etc.

The transmission jumped into neutral while going 65mph also indicating “service park brake” and “service transmission”. The vehicle slowing down almost caused another vehicle to rear end me as I was looking for a safe place to try and pull over. No one has inspected properly these vehicles despite numerous customer complaints of the same nature. The car had no lights on but afterwards the power train light came on.

Car is stalling for unknown reason without any warning or light appearing on dash. Feeling unsafe especially when driving on the highway because I never know when it will happen. Has been happening every day for the past 3 days. Happened in the beginning after a couple months of having the car and the first time I took it in, they couldn't find anything wrong or replicate the problem.

About 2 weeks ago , my car began malfunctioning and randomly shutting off while driving. The car gives no indication that there is an issue before hand which is dangerous. It has happened to me while entering the freeway and while on regular streets. In addition, when this happens, my gearshift somehow gets stuck which makes me unable to move the car. Sometimes I cannot turn the car off, it would get stuck running. The shift would malfunction illuminating other shifts even though it is stuck. This issue has happened to me again in the wee hours of this morning at 3am on a dark road. I feared for me life… I see that this is an ongoing issue in many complaints that I see but there has been no resolve from the manufacturer. Please help.

The Chrysler 200's engine keeps suddenly shutting off while driving, mainly while making turns on streets and freeway on/off ramps. There are no warning lights, sounds, or visual cues to indicate any sort of problem. Sometimes the vehicle may just stall, most other times it just turns off and asks that I switch the shifter to park to then turn the vehicle back on. This issue is very concerning as it’s dangerous for the vehicle to shut down in traffic and could prove fatal.

When I accelerate from a stop sign or from a stopped position the vechicle will rev high and not pick up speed. It will stall in the middle of an intersection or as I am driving. This has been occurring since I purchased the vehicle in March 2016. When the vehicle is being started, the car engine and electrical system flickers uncontrollably. All of the lights on the dash board goes off and on the dials goes up and down. The engine shacks as it would like to start but doesn't. It would take up to 2 to 3 times to restart the car to work properly. Recently April 2, 2021, as I was driving majority of the lights came on, transmission, parking brake, abs lights came on. The power steering is not fully functional and the transmission is not reacting normally. As I accelerate during tgis time the traction control symbol flashes and yhe car has difficulty picking up speed. The car has a increasingly difficult time accelerating. If I were to accelerate too quickly the vehicle will rev high and the fears will not catch properly.

Car stalls loses power dies in the middle of intersections and busy highways has very high oil consumption no low oil indicator light has ever been displayed I have almost lost my life my children's lives even my family and friends lives due to this issue it's also causing me lots of extra expenses which might I say have gotten very expensive time after time again replacing the burnt oil all the time tow truck fees mechanic fees hotel fees part fees rental car fees all because the manufacturer of this vehicle could care less the safety of the people should always be more important than anything else point blank.

As I was driving about 40mph and slowing down for a stop sign, the engine died out. Locking my brakes and my steering wheel. At this very moment the gear d was blinking on the dash and telling me to put the vehicle in park. The vehicle was disables and the ignition would not start the car until after several minutes and multiple attempts. This has occurred a total of 5 times in the last 2 weeks. This is very dangerous if it occurred while I'm on the freeway or in the middle of an intersection.

While driving the car will lose power. Dashboard says to put the vehicle in drive, which it is already in drive because I'm driving down the road. I have to put it in park, shut off the engine, wait a few seconds and restart the car. This happens whether I'm in a parking lot or on a main road in traffic. First time it happened (a few weeks ago) I was in traffic on a main road and I had just stopped at a stop light. Today it happened after I pulled into a parking lot and started to pull into a parking spot.

I purchased this car new off the dealership showroom in summer of 2017. A couple days after having it, I was driving down a street in my hometown and the vehicle just shut completely off. I was in the middle of traffic and began to panic because I didn't want to get into an accident. I took the car to the dealership and they �fixed� the issue. Shortly after, while at a stop light, the car shut off again in traffic and took a while to restart. Everything in the vehicle turns off. I again took it to the dealership and they �fixed� the issue. Here we are just last week, 08/15/2020 and I'm driving on a major thru way and the vehicle cuts off again. There have never been any warning signs, lights on the dashboard/ reason for me to believe something was wrong. My vehicle barely has 50k miles. After looking up my VIN to see if there had been a recall (there isn�t), I did notice that the year prior (2015) same make and model have a recall for the same electrical issue I've been complaining about. This matter is serious as the cars turns off unexpectedly and could cause a terrible accident. I will upload my paper work from the dealership the first 2x. I have not driven the vehicle since 8/15/20 as I'm afraid that someone will get hurt. I've called to report the issue at the 888 number listed but the phone just hangs up. At the time of purchase I lived in niagara falls, NY and purchased the vehicle from joe cecconi's Chrysler complex. I currently live in charlotte, nc where the most recent incident occurred.

Vehicle was in motion going up a hill while driving to work . The vehicle stalled and shut off while other cars were behind me . This happen at least three times while driving to work before I decided to take the vehicle to Chrysler for a diagnostic check up . Dealership service department decided to give me a tune up after paying 600 dollars to fix the problem . Several months later I continued to have issues with the vehicle stalling while driving. Later on Chrysler service told me my engine was shot due to anti freeze in the engine oil compartment . Now I have no car and a 6600. 00 dollar maintenance quote to get a new engine .

I have been informed that I need engine and transmission mounts due to jerkiness in car. I have also had issues with the car shutting off at lights, or any driving situation where I may be at standstill waiting to proceed. Traffic clearing or waiting for parking space. At times it take 3-4 tries before it restarts and there is no warning that it is going to cut off. Lastly, the electrical systems inside car are unstable. The air bag light goes on and off, the bluetooth connection for phone isn't always reliable. Overall I am disappointed and wish I was in position to trade it in. Please encourage people to note issues they are having as well.

When decelerating at either a red light or to turn, car will completely shut off with no warnings or check engine lights. This started almost a month ago. Then today everything locked up. All electrical lights came on along with the check engine light. There was no power when trying to get the vehicle back home. It should have been towed.

Car has shut off while driving last few weeks. It happened. As soon as I turned onto a road, going 20-30 mph, it has happened while trying to merge onto the freeway. The car just stalls, says "place in p to start" and then dies. The gearshift and wheel lock up and you have to turn the car off and attempt to restart. Each time I had to try at least 3 times to get the car restarted. All lights come on dash, battery light included, but had battery checked and it is fine. Trying to restart, it doesn't want to turn over. This has happened with several cars behind me and have almost been rear ended because of it. Took it to the dealship but, all they told me to do was track my oil changes but, the problem still remains.

I have a 2016 Chrysler 200 and of you are a quart low the vehicle has a sensor which tells the vehicle to shut off it don't matter we're you are at and you can only go 1800 to 2000 miles till it burns that quart off so when the vehicle dies the power steering is turned off and the steering wheel locks so there is no way to get off the road you have to stop the car and put in park to start again I called the manufacturer and they told me that means so safty is working properly so they can't do anything but to me that seems like a safty hazard to anyone in the car to get rear ended or in a intersection.

2016 Chrysler 200 s with 94,000 miles shifts hard between gears, often feeling/sounding like it is slamming into gear. It surges when stopped at lights or stop signs and bucks and jerks during rapid acceleration.

My car is struggling with starting. Multiple times it has left me stranded. First trip to dealership, they stated it needed a computer update. The problem got worse after the computer update and begin happening more and more often. Gives me a "service transmission" message. It's only at 67,000 miles and I havent owned it a year. Very frustrated. It is going back to the dealership tomorrow!.

Stop and go traffic for about 20 mins, once I entered the intersection the vehicle completely stopped without warning. I could not locate the emergency release to place the vehicle in neutral. Car sat in the intersection got 1. 5 hours.

My 2016 Chrysler 200 stalls randomly in traffic on the highway. I was on my way home from ocean city, MD when I hit traffic at the bay bridge. I was trying to switch lanes when I noticed my power steering was not working followed by a message on the screen stating to put the vehicle in park and restart the engine. Vehicle restarted but was not shifting correctly. Happened a second time in a similar situation. This is a major safety hazard. I don't even know where to begin looking for the problem because there is no check engine light indicating what is happening.

This evening when driving my car the vehicle stalled out and cut off a number of three times within a 10 minute span. Once while making a right turn out of the parking lot of my job, second when coming to a full stop at the parking lot entrance and last as I was begining the merge onto the highway from an on ramp. The day prior the car shut off completely a total of 5 times at various points throughout the day. My vehicle is regularly maintained by the service department where I purchased my vehicle brand new. There were no warning light or indicators that there was an issue. The only notification was to "shift car to park to start engine". This issue nearly caused a major accident when attempting to merge onto the highway this evening. This is highly concerning as this issue could potentially cost my family or myself our lives should the vehicle shut off at the wrong moment. I've searched numerous sites about this problem and it appears there are a lot of people experiencing this issue with the same year and model as well as ones produced prior to 2016. This concern is life threatening and should be treated as such with some form of remedy from the manufacturer.

My Chrysler 200 started shifting really hard and as you're driving down the road you can feel it jerking. I called the Chrysler dealership that is local to me took it in they only drove at 3 miles and decided there was nothing wrong with it except for a software update. I paid $132 for a labor charge for a software update that never fix the problem. Took it back 2 days later they can't diagnose it with spark plug issues. Paid $160 for spark plugs and labor just to have the same problem. They still after a week later have no idea what is wrong with my car. Just wondering what kind of technicians actually work for Chrysler.

This is bullshit. How can a vehicle 2 years old have so many transmission issues to even count on one hand? I've been able to research hundreds of other examples of this very identical vehicle display the exact same issues my car exemplifies. Are you guys just waiting for a tragic death to occur? if so, how about you guys refund us and drive the vehicles around for a while until that death occur. The lowlifes at Chrysler need to be sued and charged for neglect.

My car suddenly turned off as I was making a turn. I have fixed the car 2 times from the same thing and this will be the 3rd. I want to see if there's something associated with a recall about the computer module. It stalls to turn on, and when it does it won't go as far as a mile.

On city streets when 9 speed transmission shifts from 4th gear to 5th gear the transmission shift jerks the car in a violent manner. This did not occur when vehicle was new.

Vehicle stalls without notice in the middle of the road. Can't display hazard lights. Must return the car to park and wait a few minutes before restarting. Stalled in the middle of a turn on my wife when taking my toddler o preschool. This is a huge safety concern! this vehicle is going to get someone killed.

The pressure on my front drivers side isnt reading it at all at first I thought it was a an electrical so I changed it then a popping and clicking sound started so I went to a mechanic and they told me it was the cv axel joint I replaced it still persist they said it might be a valve ok I replaced still has the popping and clicking sound and to top it off when im pushing on the gas pedal to go faster the car for some reason pulls back they told me at the Chrysler auto repaid it might be because it needs the transmission oil change I made an appointment and had it done but it still persists I don't know what else to do its cost me so much money to try to figure out what wrong with it and for some one on minimum wage its getting very difficult to continue paying this vehicle that has problems that just won't go away.

Transmission is rough and unpredictable. Each shift and downshift is felt in the throttle(feels like engine braking). Transmission often causes the vehicle to accelerate or decelerate unintentionally. Shifting gears seems to take longer than it should. Transmission won't downshift sometimes when appropriate throttle is given. Braking is jerky due to the transmission rough down shifting. City driving in this car is uncomfortable and dangerous due to all the issues listed above.
