36 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2013 Chrysler 200

Failure Date: 01/16/2013

I bought my 200 in December 2012. Starting in January, the car idles very strangely. When I start the car the engine rattles as if it does not want to start. The brakes have always squeaked as if they need to be replaced and when I asked the dealership, I was told that this is normal and every car squeaks. Lastly, it is difficult to drive during the evening time because of the low lighting. I do not believe I will ever by Chrysler again because the car runs as if it 60,000 miles old. I am afraid it is going to break down any moment. I wish I would have bought the Honda accord.

37 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2013 Chrysler 200

Failure Date: 09/10/2012

Headlamps are not very good on this vehicle, I have had the headlamps adjusted by the dealer once and they did not improve, went to another dealer and was told that they were not adjustable. The vehicle can not be driven at night.

38 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2012 Chrysler 200

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

Projector type head lamps are aimed too low and cannot be adjusted as designed. On dark roads peripheral lighting from head lamps is non existent. Brights are needed but not practical for constant use and is illegal in town as well. This is a real design flaw and some one is going to get hurt in a night time accident due to the poor design of the lighting system on this model.

39 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2012 Chrysler 200

Failure Date: 06/25/2012

Head lamp projection on the 2012 Chrysler 200 is very limited on low beam (50 feet) which is unsafe and is going to cause death or injury. This is a design defect and cannot be corrected by the dealer for which 2 attempts were made. In addition, the manufacturer was contacted for correction. They stated the head lamps operate as intended and there is nothing to be done. Either the vehicle must be driven very slowly so that the driver can react to the limited projection field or high beams must be used which blinds the oncoming traffic and is illegal in most conditions. There is a lid which covers the bulb half way on low beam and retracts fully on high beam. The lid restricts adequate projection and also restricts beam projection to the sides. This is an extremely unsafe vehicle in this condition for night time driving and should recalled for correction. The dealer has had numerous complaints on this model, but says there is nothing they can do since the manufacturer will not acknowledge a problem. I have read numerous other complaints in your data base concerning the same problem and have spoken to other owners who acknowledge the problem. Not driving the car at night or driving with high beams on is not the answer. Please get the manufacturer to acknowledge and fix the design defect immediately.

40 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2011 Chrysler 200

Failure Date: 07/11/2011

The safety issue of the headlamps not giving light enough distance. Talking with NHTSA, I was told that other manufacturers have the same complaints. Chrysler vp even suggest I look into getting different headlamps but they would not install them on my car or put it in writing.
