I have had issues with fueling the vehicle as when I fuel it I am only able to get a few cents in at a time before the gas pump clicks off or gas starts coming out of the fuel filler neck itself. At most I have been able to fill up my tank halfway but when I try to fill it a few cents worth of gas above halfway, I have engine stalling issues. To try to solve this issue I replaced all the external fuel vapor parts (charcoal cannister, egr valve, pcv valve, purge solenoid, gas cap, and leak detection pump). The issue is clearly a problem with the internal components of the fuel tank itself. Chrysler has a x53 lifetime warranty for my type of vehicle but only for 19 gallon fuel tanks and my car has an 18 gallon tank. However, NHTSA investigation pe13-016 has shown that the defect (a swollen vent valve) affects both sizes of tanks. Chrysler said that the x53 lifetime warranty on the defective tank is VIN specific and would not cover my vehicle because it has a 18 gallon tank. Now my vehicle dashboard is saying that the gas cap is leaking but the gas cap was just replaced thus this further points to a pressure issue within the tank. Chrysler dealerships will not help me and contacting fca resulted in them just telling me to contact a dealer to check if the warranty is available for me.
2006 Chrysler 300 touring 3. 5l v6 engine. Car has intermittent stall at slow speeds or at complete stop. Sometimes feels like it stumbles, other times it dies suddenly and unable to tell the engine shut down. I have to put car in park and completely switch the ignition fully off and turn back on to start position. When it stalls while rolling, I have to brake and bring car to full stop, with no power steering, and go through the same start procedure. No trouble codes are generated, and no check engine light indicator illuminated. Car usually starts right up, but sometimes I have to keep cranking starter, stumbles to catch as if starving for fuel. A/c was on first two times but also happens with a/c off. Research online reveals an open recall for the fuel tank on the 300c model with a 5. 7l or 6. 4l engine. Problems described on the 300c model are nearly identical to what my 300 touring is experiencing. Pcm replacement does not correct problem. Some noticed it happening only with a full tank. Stopgap measure is to only fill no more than 3/4 tank. I am currently testing this idea. The safety issue is significant and twofold; three times I have had one other adult and two children in the car. While stalled at a major intersection traffic signal trying to restart the engine, other vehicles approached from the rear at 50-55 mph. A rear end collision with children in the back seat would likely be fatal. Secondly, during a stall event while the car is moving, it is extremely difficult to steer the vehicle to a safe place, and braking takes significant pedal pressure once power assist bleeds off. This is a serious concern and obvious collision hazard, as I may not be able to stop or steer to a safe location or avoid a hazard. I had the car at the dealer for over three weeks in July 2024 and they were unable to duplicate the issue. Their answer was to drive car until it happens more frequently. This is unacceptable. No other solution or repair was provided.
I here to report what seems to be an on-going issue with the older model Chrysler 300's. I have an 2006 and just recently started smelling gas fumes or an gas odor inside my car. I had a mechanic look at the problem. He assumes it was a cracked or damaged seal. He took the backseat out and looked. The ring was intact but the fuel filter had a small crack in it. We fixed it and thought the problem was over. He said the car would have a heavy fuel smell for a couple of days but would go away once the car was aired out. 3 days go by and though the fumes remained. Now,I see that gas isactually leaking from the underside of the rear passenger side. And the smell is still there. I am taking the car to another repair shop to do a more through exam of the car. Leaking gas should be the least of my problems.
Every time I fill my car with gas I get a gas smell inside my car and garage for the next few day. I call about a recall for my car and was told that my car was too old to be serviced at the dealership where I bought it.
Car shut off in the middle of highway, stalling, I was almost hit from behind. Now it won't even start. Every issue is related to the fuel issue recall. But my because my VIN isn't included, I have to deal with this. You guys aren't perfect and missed adding my car to the recall.
Car stalled while driving and one time after refiring the engine, the shifting of gears was awkward. Dealer changed oil pressure sensor. Did not help.
Everytime. I feel my Chrysler 300 up. It shuts off ,stalls for about 10 minutes. Then everything is normal. Note. This is very dangerous could be just driving and it'll just shut off. Can you cause an accident? this is happening to me at least six to eight times so far beginning in January.
Vehicle intermittently stalls when slowing for a stop or accelerating after a stop or slowing down to turn a corner. Has happened 4 times after being fixed by dealer. Did meet with service director but have not had any response. No power when it happens. . All instances are on city paved streets. Restarts on first try. Check fuel light comes on but check engine light does not. Dealer has worked on it 3 times and replaced parts but it has not fixed the problem. They really have no idea what is going on.
After filling up with gas, the car sometimes stalls at slow speeds or low rpm until a gallon or so of gas is used up, the cause is supposed to be the fuel vapor recovery system malfunctioning.
Car stall when full.
Very strong fuel smell what looks like may be a gasket under rear seat in vehicle. . . Smell is even stronger after filling up, and when making hard stops. There is no gasoline seen leaking from under car at this time. Concerned about fire hazard. Heard others have had similar problems. This could also be a very significant fire concern as the fumes are very strong in garage with vehicle parked, and could be a problem when gas appliances or water heaters come in proximity to vehicle.
After filling the gas the car will sputter and stall. I always use 91-93 octane fuel from the kroger fuel stations, and when leaving the last few times I've had problems getting up to speed without the car getting to speed or stalling. It will restart normally pretty easily other than yesterday when my wife was driving it, it kept stalling coming home, she parked it, and the next morning it refused to start. It took a while but after starting and running it a bit, it's running fine. Vehicle was recently in for checkup at 78900 miles (80k checkup) and has just over 80k on it now. I'm an adult disabled driver, it gets driven just not far at any given time.
Vehicle shuts off while driving in traffic without any warning. No indicators appear on the dashboard. This occurs in the morning after starting the car and driving less than one half mile. When I come to a light or stop sign the vehicle shuts off.
Power loss after re-feeling car turned off.
For the year every time I fill my car up with gas there is an overwhelming fuel smell inside and outside of the car. The smell is so bad that we roll the windows down in order to breath for at least 4days. It is now 115 degrees outside and if the air is on, my kids and I get nauseous. I took it into 2 different mechanics and they can't seem to locate the problem. The vehicle smell is evident being stationary and moving.
Experiencing stalling after refueling.
Engine stalls while driving with out any warning . Outvof no where engine cuts off on low speed and high speed on the fwy its pretty dangers mechanics cant figure it out. Whats the problem. I dont feel safe driving my car anymore. First time that the car stalled was 2 months aho while I was driving on the fwy. Then it happened again. When I was crossing the intersection at a low speed so car stopped in the middle of intersection!.
Engine stalls after fuel fill up.
While driving vehicle will suddenly stall and cut out making it really dangerous on the freeway the car will just shut down and you have to put it in neutral and started all over again now it stalls even in drive sitting at traffic light.
I own a 2006 Chrysler 300c and recently when I fill it with gas and drive away from the gas station it shuts of and I have problems keeping it running. I'm afraid to drive the car now because it can stop on me in the middle of a busy intersection and that could be very dangerous, in fact. . . Life threatening. I should not have to be afraid of driving my own car. That's ridiculous!.
I first noticed surging at idle when in gear, this grew into stalling during stops and now is stalling/stumbling while driving. I've had multiple times where the car would completely stall while moving and had high potential for danger. I have no engine light and no engine codes. This car is an srt8 and driven very seldom, especially now. It's actually parked now due to this issue. The maintenance has always been meticulous and mechanics have come up dry with trying to figure this out.
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited a fuel odor. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 119,000.
Started car the next day after fueling car the night before at gas station on the corner from my home it started riding real slow it making funny noise when it started riding better, but got in the car the next day no start car was taken to 2 mechanic shop 1st one you need a engine did not believe it 2nd shop broke it down need engine full of oil changed every 3 months only problem had was that plastic ring on when car would not get out of gear which I'm not the only one that this has happened too now I have no car only had for 4/ years and this has happen a lot wow wasted money and I always let this car run before I moved because years ago my grand father said Chrysler were cold nature cars warm them up I was not even ready for my tune-up.
Chrysler 300 ltd rwd 2006 stalls when car slows down. Have performed regular maintenance and had ignition switch replaced at dealership - car engine light comes on after it stalls, but when car is re-started, (which it does) engine light is no longer on - very dangerous to have no warning, just dies - car runs great when running, but quits suddenly when speed is reduced - do not want to own car anymore.
I was leaving my neighborhood and I stopped at the stop sign. As I was leaving, I heard a jerk before turning. As im driving, I noticed that the gears weren't switching properly. I had to pull over and turn the car off and back on. Later that day, I pulled into a drive thru and my car wouldn't move. The engine did not turn off but it wasn't revving. I continued to press the throttle and it finally jerked and moved. Ive had many ocassions of my vehicle having no reaction from hitting the gas pedal to it not shifting gears.
I had just finished filling up when I pulled out the gas station, my car choked up, it continue fine for about a mile and when I stopped to turn left at the light my car completely turned off, tried to start it a few times and did not work waited about 5 minutes and the car finally started. I heard that this is an on going problem with thus model. This is the first time it happened to me. It was really cary but I was glad it happened when I was at the light.
The car it shut off after every gas filling immediately after getting into traffic its very scary and very dangerous situation.
I am the original owner of this vehicle and have all routine maintainance done at the dealer. On 2/28/2015 I had just left the grocery store and was pulling of the parking lot into traffic, car started to hesitate and then completely cut off. After several attemps it finally restarted. Then on 2/25/2015 after refueling as I was setting in traffic the car stalled and cut off again. This morning while taking kids to school the car began to shake and slow down then cut off. What is this all about?.
Vehicle turned off multiple times and once driving the speed would drop down.

My car stalled on a stop light twice last November 2014 and January 25, 2015 after I fill up my car. I turned off the car and then turned on the car again and it drove. For now it is working but I'm afraid it will stalled again while on the road.
I was on the highway and the car completely power down and shut off. I was able to pull over to the side of the road waited a few mintues and restarted the car. The car is continuing to stall out. This is very dangerous this will happening at high speeds.
Shortly after I filled up my car it started stalling out. I was on the freeway and the car completely power down and shut off. I was able to pull over to the side of the road waited a few mintues and restarted the car. The car is continuing to stall out and I don't know what else to do. I have been to the dealership and they are not aware of what to do and just want me to bring it in an let it sit. But I need transportation that does not stall out and it is very dangerous my children were with me in the car when I lost power.
Always after fueling, car will stall several times, until it stays running. May stall as soon as start eng. ,or start to drive off, or down the road or freeway. Or at stop signs, or lights.
Always after fueling car will stall. At idle, or starting to drive off, or at stop sign or light or going down street or freeway. Not always easy to get restarted either. After 1,2,miles or so wont do it anymore, until next fill time.
