36 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2013

Filled up gas tank and as I was pulling out off gas station car shut off. I turned the car off and on again and it started, drove apx fifty feet and car shut off again, luckily I had already pulled over to the side of the road. Towed the car to the shop, was told the gas needed to burn off a little. Worked but had three more incident since then. Apparent the fuel tank when filled up expand and fuel get into the engine. Can't afford to fix the problem, been lay off going on three years now.

38 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2013

I already have filed a complaint about this matter. I found that Chrysler has agreed to replace fuel tanks as a recall on his vehicle on Feb. 10,2014 , pe13016. Recall letters to be sent out starting Jan. 2014. I have not received a letter. I called Chrysler (1-800-247-9753) they are not aware of this recall. I questioned this and the operator (employer #1402) had no answer. I have a case # with them #24783702. And although the NHTSA thinks this is not a safety problem I beg to differ. This car has stalled after refueling at speeds up to 55 mph or faster. This is a $1500 or more repair I was told & would like to have Chrysler take care of this. Thank you, george ginda.

40 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2013

Vehicle constantly stalls after fuel fill up no matter where I get gas it has been doing this since late oct now and it is dangerous to drive like this if I have to go out of town. It stops about 3 to 5 times after I fill tank with fuel then after a while it stops. This is very frustrating and I'm concerned as to why there isn't a recall on this vehicle for this since there have been many complaints.

42 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2013

The vehicle began repeatedly stalling after being filled with gas and at low speeds. This went on for months. My son had the vehicle in another town and when he returned to our house we took it to our mechanic who diagnosed a fuel valve problem. We then took it to the poway Chrysler dealer who agreed with the diagnosis. They said it was a fuel tank vent valve failure causing fuel to be sucked up into intake purge line. Excessive fuel was seen by the powertrain control module and they proceeded to repair the problem by installing a new fuel tank. Although this is apparently a well documented problem in 2006 Chrysler 300s, my car was not covered in a recent decision by Chrysler to extend the fuel tank warranty.

43 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2013

From what I've learned there's a defect in Chrysler automobiles with the hemi engine. Any time the gas tank is filled, if a sharp left turn is taken the car stalls out. This is exactly what has happened to me periodically over the last two years. I brought the car to two local mechanics and the Chrysler dealership, nobody could figure it out, it doesn't show up on the car's computer. Finally, a third mechanic googled it and came up with an article in the l. A. Times that perfectly described my situation (duh, I should've thought of that). It wasn't until the car stalled in the middle of a busy road, on a Friday afternoon, with my two-year-old daughter in the car, that I really had an issue. I was able to roll into the parking lot of a shopping plaza, so it ended alright, but if there was nowhere to go that could've spelled disaster! as a guy I can handle a situation like this, but when children are involved a defect of this type is unacceptable. I'm the original owner of the car, so it's not related to user error by any means. In the end the third mechanic quoted me $1800 for a new gas tank + lines + labor, or I could not fill my tank to the top when I get gas. Thanks Chrysler! plus, the shifter for the automatic transmission on the 300c will lock up, not letting the driver shift from park to drive. Thanks again Chrysler for stranding my pregnant wife! (I still have the shifter in my garage hoping that will be a recall).

44 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Upon restarting, the vehicle resumed normally. The failure occurred only when the fuel tank was filled to the full capacity. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000. Js.

45 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2013

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled and the power steering failed which caused the contact to lose control of the vehicle. The failure recurred multiple times after refueling the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v313000 (air bags); however, the parts were unavailable to perform the repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000.

46 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2013

When I would fill up with gas my car would stall and shut off as I approached a traffic light to stop or slow to make a turn. I contacted Chrysler on may 15, 2013 about my car. I was told to take it to the dealer and I did but they say without the engine light coming on they would have to keep the car 4 to 5 days and break it down. Then I read in the paper that you has closed the investigation into engine stalling in some 2006 Chrysler cars after the company extended the fuel warranty. No one contacted me about the extended warranty (they should have after I contacted them of the problem). I emailed them again and they said that the extended warranty had expired. The fuel tank problem was and probably is on a lot of 2006 Chrysler and because they never notified anyone of the problem we are responsible for the bill. I had been having trouble with my car for about two months before I contacted them. I would fill up with gas and start home and approaching a traffic light to stop my car shut off with no warning and no engine light ever came on. Got it started and came to the next light and started to make a left turn and it shut off again and on coming traffic was approaching. Got it started in time and going into the garage of my house and it stopped again. At first I thought it was the gas I was using but, no matter if it was exxon, citgo or bp it all was the same. Stalling and cutting off were a regular occurrence. I didn't get to go on vacation last summer because I didn't know what was happening to my car. It was a night mare. I think Chrysler did me wrong in not contacting me about the extended warranty after I had contacted them about the problem I was having.

47 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2013

I have a 2006 Chrysler 300c, which is the motor trend car for that year. I really enjoy the spacious room and power of this car and was happy to get it back in the spring of 2005, directly from the factory. I had been enjoying my car until the car starting stalling. My vehicle stalled out after I filled the gas tank. It stalled several times while I attempted to leave the gas station. This has been an ongoing problem and I have been waiting for the gas tank to be replaced every since I heard about the recall last year. To date, the tank has not been replaced and I am concerned about driving it and stalling in traffic. This could result in serious accident if it stalls in traffic. I have taken the vehicle to a couple of dealerships in my area without any help for this issue.

48 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the entire fuel tank needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 44,237 and the current mileage was 58,000.

51 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2012

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler 300. While driving approximately 25 mph up a steep hill, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was parked for approximately 15 minutes while the engine cooled off and eventually restarted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that fuel flooded the engine. The mechanic advised the contact that the fuel tank should never be filled to capacity. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred on several occasions. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

52 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2011

In April of 2014 I informed my local Chrysler dealer of a stalling problem on our Chrysler 300c. This problem first occurred in 2011 after fueling the vehicle and pulling into traffic. The engine did restart and cleared itself out right away. I complained to the dealer and at that time I'm guessing it was a new issue because " we have never heard of that". After doing some research I found out others were also having this problem after fill up. In Feb 2014 I read an article about a lifetime warranty on these and other lx platform Chryslers on these tanks. Back to the dealership I go with this information and the local dealer put me on a waiting list. In sept. 2014 we were told we were next on the list for a new tank. It is now late October and still no tank. The dealership told me there were 2000 of these tanks on backorder and the would be distributed as they are built. Today I called the Chrysler support line. The lady was very sympathetic. She called my dealer and somehow I went from next on the list to #3 on the list. I now feel that the bean counters think a lot of the cars will somehow go away and then so will the problem. A few stalled vehicles involved in lethal crashes caused by this stalling issue linked to the fuel shut off float sticking may be what it takes. We know that by only fueling the tank to 3/4 full we do not have the problem. If we should trade this vehicle the next owner needs to know that there is a lifetime warranty on the tank but there is no parts support.
