Was on my way home from work and car completely lost power as I was preceding to go after stopping at a stop sign. I was literally in the middle of the road. Car wouldn't crank at all. Engine started overheating causing smoke to disburse from engine. No warning lights before this occurred. A big truck was coming down the road and I had to exist the vehicle. Luckily a car wasn't in the other lane so the truck went on the other side of the road. I was terrified! I called 911 to get a deputy dispatch to direct traffic around my car to avoid mutiple collision. I had to have my vehicle towed. I never want another Chrysler again these cars are unsafe. I could have died what if my child was in the car?! I took my car to a mechanic to put on computer scanner and it gave off seven codes all due to electrical issues! car is apparently stuck in limp mode idk I'm so confused and disappointed. I reported the issue to Chrysler recall line and they did nothing.
My vehicle stalls when placed from reverse to drive and the check engine light blinks and goes to eco mode which makes the car shake. I’ve had a tuneup, oil change, brakes, O2 sensor and spark plugs replaced and the issues still exist. The car also will initiate skid control without warning or pressing the button which slows the car down and causes the engine to rev above 3-6rpm.

It caught on fire an burned the alternator out an also the main harness to the vehicle.
Chrysler 300 2012 went into saver mode couple minutes later alternator smoked then catches on mild fire.
Stoneridge Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram pleasanton, CA sold me this vehicle in March 2019, soon as left the dealer the alternator went out, then the engine light came on. The rear camera do not work, the uconnect do not work-malfunctions. The car was returned and kept for two to three weeks. Returned to me with the uconnect malfunctioning, engine light back on, rear camera not working.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Chrysler 300. While driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked, sputtered, the gear slipped occasionally, and the vehicle suddenly shut off. The cause of the failure was not determined. Gwinnett Chrysler (5054 hwy 78, stone mountain, GA) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 31,000.
I was parking in a parking garage and the car went into low battery mode and the abs light came on. I could smell burning from the engine. I was able to make it safely to park as I was in a parking garage. I was able to inspect under the hood and while facing the engine their was smoke/burning smell to the left of the engine. The dealer did confirm it is part of the t36 recall and is stating I have to pay up front.
Alternator went out while driving. Service department had my vehicle for 7 days. We went back and forth as to who was going to pay for the repair that was covered under the t36 recall. 5 days after said repair, the a/c compressor is not working.
The car started turning air and radio off by itself and all the lights came on than the windshield wipers came on . The backup camera stopped and the phone features. The car stopped after that wouldn't go in park until I held down the start button than it parked and would not start after that. The car smelled like something was burning.
As leaving my home and going no more than 15 mph because I was still in a residential neighborhood, I noticed that "battery saver mode" came on the dash. Within seconds, I noticed the radio turned off and the car was slowing down. I immediately turned around and as I was returning home (which would have taken about 60 seconds), the car completed stopped. I started to notice a burning smell, so I tried to put the car in park but it would not go. I tried to turn the car off, but no success. As I was smelling the burning smell, I decided to just open the car door to get out and it was at that time the car just turned off. I called the dealer and described what happened. They advised that it was something to do with alternator and would check for recall. They checked my VIN and advised I was not included in recall, but other 2012 Chrysler 300s had been included. As I researched online, many consumers were complaining about this same problem and being told they were not in recall. I read the symptoms of the problem as the recall was noted and I experienced the same thing. In addition, I was afraid the car was going to catch on fire by the smell that was coming in the car. Hopefully, this problem can be addressed.
Car was stalling and had electrical issues. I paid to get it fixed but never knew there was a recall for my vehicles alternator. The vehicle battery dies fairly quickly from time to time still and every know and then I have to call aaa to jump my car and they say my battery is good. Chrysler's number for this recall is t36. I never received a noticed.
Experienced total electrical failure after replacing alternator and battery- electrical failure affects everything- unsafe to drive.
On 12/22/16, I used my car for work and later christmas shopping with no problem. At 9:00 pm, my husband, granddaughter and I were on the freeway travelling about 60-65 mph when the battery save mode light came on. I smelled smoke so my husband merged over to the far right, still traveling about 50-55 mph. The car began to shut down, first the radio, then inside panel lights, headlights, airbag warning lights, brake lights, windshield wipers up, and car slammed into park while moving. Felt like we were rear ended. Very scary. Luckily, we were able to coast downhill off the side of the freeway, barely making it off, with the backend of the car in jeopardy of being hit. The three of us were stranded there on the side of the road until 1:30 am, in a not so lit area, until aaa arrived. None of us knew how to put the car in neutral so it had to be forced on and off the flat bed. The next day, I notified Chrysler and found out there was a recall on the alternator for this same make, model and year. My care # is 30764006. However, I was told that my car was not covered because it had a 180 amp alternator instead of 160 amp. I was told by angela to have my car towed to motor village la for an official diagnosis and that she (Chrysler) would try to help me get it approved to be fixed under the recall. Motor village quoted me $1200 to fix and denied the recall claim. My family and I almost lost our lives that evening, and I wasted time with Chrysler recall. I had to get the car towed elsewhere because I could not afford $1200 for repair. Furthermore, when I called back, I was not able to speak with angela and of course, the story had changed. They no longer offered help, only apologies. As a result, I lost time off work and was without a car for a week. I am requesting reimbursement for my $130. 00 diagnostic charge paid to motor village. Thank you. Stephanie maddox.
I was on my way home from the grocery store with my son, I was stopped at a red light when the light turned green I pressed on the gas to go and the car would not move the abs light came on. The end car finally started to move slowly, then all the lights started to flash and everything went black, no power! I tried to get as close as possible to home, at that point I had no power steering no nothing and all the while the dashboard kept flickering and it said service transmission, malfunction indicator was lit up. This all happened in rush hour traffic. Smh I was going about 25mph and miles on vehicle was 55,900.
While driving about 30mpr, car suddenly loss all inside lights, including indicator lights. Within one minutes later, power dropped and car was barely driving. Within the two blocks I had to drive to get home, power continued to drop. No way to control the car; unable to turn off . Ignition or put car in park it suddenly began to smoke profusely. Looked like all fluids leaked and car became hot. Then all dash lights came on flashing violently. Car smoked for about 20 minutes or more before it became quiet. Gears would not engage, so it remained in drive the whole time. I kept my foot on brake due to uncertain about what the car would do. It was completely dead but continued to smoke more than 30 more minutes. Was unable to control anything. Could not even operate trunk. I am totally afraid of this car. Towed to dealer. Alternator cost >$1100. Mileage is just over 68000. P60 recall was not assigned to my car due to amp value.
(p60/NHTSA 14v-634) I own a 2012 Chrysler 300. While driving about 5 mph in a parking lot, the radio stated cutting on and off, the battery icon flashed on and off and I lost all power to the vehicle. I opened the hood and smoke was coming from the alternator. Aaa came and tried to jump -start the vehicle, but the battery was completely dead. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery was the cause of the failure. The batter and the alternator were replaced. In 2015, a letter was sent to certain Chrysler 300 owners whose vehicle was equipped with a 3. 6l engine and a 160 amp alternator to take their vehicle to a Chrysler dealer and get the alternator replaced, free of charge. Those of us with a 180 amp alternator did not qualify. Those of us with the 180 amp alternator did not qualify. The same problem that existed with the 160 amp, also exist with the 180 amp alternator. I also have a life- time warranty, but I had to pay for the battery.
After being parked in shade for over an hour on warm (70) day, brake light came on, then engine and transmission light on and off while driving. While at stop, smell of burnt plastic and unable to shift from drive to park; was eventually able to shift into park, then vehicle died, including flashers. No power to anything, including doors. Was stopped at head of left turn lane during lunch hour traffic; out of car due to building heat and increased burning plastic smell and to direct traffic around the vehicle for over an hour until towed by aaa. Diagnosed by dealer (lithia Dodge in santa rosa, CA) as wire shorted in alternator, but they say not covered by recall #14v634000. Quoted repair is $1452. 00 for new alternator and battery, plus approx. $500 in car rental costs. Mileage about 58,000.
I was driving at 45 mph on highway when suddenly all the light on the dashboard cluster when on then the radio went off, then windows would not work, door locks would not work then lost power steering and power brakes and engine was still on but not responding to gas pedal. I was able to pull it off the road safely but then I could not put the car in park or shut down the engine. The car was then starting to overheat and a burning electrical smell was noticeable. I was able to open the hood and pull out some fuses to finally shut the car down before it potentially caught on fire. I fell this is an inherit safety dange with this car. I sent do dealer to be told it was the alternator which is very scary that the car could do this if the alternator goes. I seen there was a recall on my model car but not for the one I have but seems to be the same problem as the previos recall for the alternators.
Lfirst I must say, I have begun to hate ever buying a Chrysler. I have had at least 3 recalls in the short lived of me purchasing this car. Now, I receive this "safety recall notice" on the alternator just before christmas. Initially, I thought no problem, I will be off work, I will go by the dealer and have this check/fixed, but as I continuing reading the notice that said you will notify me when these parts are available is unacceptable. I am planning to travel for the holidays, now I can't, I don't trust this car. I can only imagine at this point traveling amongst a convey of other cars and my car could just stop does not make for a happy christmas, this has ruined my christmas plans and my question to Chrysler since this is my only form of transportation. What am I suppose to do? the car is sluggish as it is and now this. Not what I hope to get from this car I always wanted and now I have grown to see it as one of my worst nightmares¿. What am I suppose to do here? basically, I get that I could experience a rapid failure; thus, putting my life, the people in my car, and every other citizen life in danger. This is ok, the only safety her is that I don't drive this car until it's fixed and you can't fix it without parts, and since chrylser do not know when these parts will become available it is extremely to risky for everyone involved and if I drive this car, that involves everyone!!!.
The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that the vehicle would not shift gears intermittently. The contact mentioned that the service engine, the esc sensor and the abs sensor warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was not inspected or diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was not included in recall NHTSA campaign number: 12v197000 (electrical system, service brakes, air). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
Faulty alternator, alternator fails and cars engine powers off while driving, first "battery saver mode" indicater comes on on message board then goes off and dealer cannot find the problem, it comes back on few days later and goes off. Dealer will not know problem. After message is displayed car is running on battery power only and eventually kills battery and alternator. "battery saver mode" message goes off when car is powered off when first appears. This a common problem and very costly. Very dangerous if vehicle is traveling on highway.
Was driving along doing about 45mph when my (abs) light came on and then 10 seconds later my battery light then 5 seconds later all electrial components failed. (lights, power stearing) the car went dead and I was coasting down from 45mph at night totally blacked out with my child in the car. I was nearly hit by another car trying to stear the car to the shoulder. It drained the battery down to nothing and I smelled something burning with minor smoke under hood. No actual fire that I could see. Had to replace battery at 179 dollars and with estimate from dealer around 800.

Driving on highway with the cruise set at 75 miles per hour when all of my dash lights came on and I had no gas power. I didnt hear any noises or notice anything suspicious. When I pulled over to the side of the road the car stops and wouldn't start, I was 50 miles from home and had it towed, the dealership tech said the engine ran out of oil, it was fine the day before. . . Later they say timing chain was broke, now they issued a timing chain recall for my model year and the Chrysler has offered to pay half the $7000 to $8000 bill, this should be covered completly including my 2 week car rental.
