Body Problems of Chrysler 300 - part 1

I was driving at around 15 mph down a dark road when I heard a loud pop and it sounded like something hit the top of my car. I then heard crackling above me so I opened the visor to the sunroof and saw it was completely shattered so I closed the visor right before the glass started falling down. I did not report to police or insurance. I can’t afford an expensive fix like this. I know for a fact no debris hit me and there couldn’t have been a build up of cabin pressure because my driver’s side window was down when it happened. There were no warning lamps illuminated and no cracks or chips in the sunroof beforehand. I vacuumed up all the glass I could but now I don’t have protection against the rain and cannot wash my car.

The bolts were loose on the driveshaft on the all-wheel-drive, which caused them to have to replace the entire driveshaft! if the driveshaft would’ve broke, whoever was driving the vehicle, whether it be me, or with my son in it, we would’ve wrecked and possibly died! the problem has been confirmed with a certified dealer! there is no warning signals. There was nothing and there is a recall on the same. There is a recall for the exact same problem as my car, and now they will not cover it because it doesn’t show up on the VIN! this is a very dangerous safety issue and chrys learning to address this as soon as possible! especially after one of their managers told me it would be paid for if I had a diagnosed with a certified dealer and now they’re saying they’re not paying for it.

My car has 122,760 miles and has had multiple fuses blow repeatedly. In the last 2wks. Today is 06-21-2023 I can change a fuse and it will blow within 15miles. Also the trim going around my windshield has disintegrated. It literally crumbled into pieces when I touched it. I noticed this almost 3 yrs ago.

The front passenger door panel has separated at the top leaving an open gap between the window and the door. It appears that the rubber molding was not manufactured properly and as heat from the sun warms up the molding, it deforms, pulls up and separates. The problem has continued to worsen over time and is approaching the door locking mechanism. It is also now possible for water to get to the inside of the door. This is a non-moving part that was defective at the time of manufacture, but took time to malfunction.

Sunroom leaking from rear interior lights when raining. Possible electrical issues. Occurs always upon raining. Chrysler has inspected the vehicle and started it’s the gasket that needs replacing. This began approximately Feb 1, 2023.

Front driver has lifted. Took the car in to have it repaired and they have no resolution. On 9/12/2022 I attempted to exit my vehicle and the panel had lifted such that the door would not open. The only way to exit my car was to climb over the center console to exit the vehicle. Only way to get door open after was to continue to pull up on the panel so I could place the locking mechanism in it's proper place. This could have been a severe safety hazard.

Back up camera problem screen either turns blue or is scrambled. This has been going on off and on for the past year sometimes it happens immediately upon putting car in reverse and other times whine in the middle of backing up. The car is with the dealer now also door panels are separating from the front doors I have heard this is a common problem with these cars and I'm not sure if it could affect side door airbags.

Observed vehicle to have warped panels on all 4 doors. Paneling has delaminated above lock pin and locking pin is obstructed creating unlock/locking failures. New panels were ordered via Chrysler dealership in Sep/2021. Dealership notified that replacement panels are discontinued and are unable to ship to repair facilities due to replacement panels having the same defect.

Unknown. My door panels on all doors, aside from the drivers door are all warping away from the windows. It has gotten so bad that my doors will not lock every time. I have done a lot of research and apparently this is a safety issue b/c airbags have deployed unexpectedly, or have not deployed during accidents causing harm. The fact that I am a single, female, traveling nurse and my doors will not lock at times is definitely not ok. I took it to a shop when I had to get a scrape fixed and asked about the door panels. They were the ones to tell me that this is such a huge problem with my make and model of car that they never are able to get parts in for months at a time, and even when they do it is the same parts that I have and people always come back with the same problem. The fact that Dodge/Chrysler knows that this is an ongoing issue for their cars since 2014 and they refuse to fix the issue prior to putting them on the market is outrageous. I paid almost $30,000 for this car with the expectations that it would be safe, look like it did when I first purchased it (as long as no accidents happened etc). I am going to do whatever I can to make sure that this gets the attention it deserves b/c big cooperations like this should not be able to screw over their customers. Especially when it puts our safety at risk.

The car is leaking from both sides through the paneling and the seats are getting wet in return making seat belts get rusted and stuck. Snd it's getting an odor . If it's raining it's leaking if moving or sitting still. . Now the roof is beginning to fade.

Deer strike 68 mph front drivers side bumper ,hood back to tire almost to windshield, was on 4 lane road at 530 pm cst.

Driver side interior molding is coming apart, molding is coming apart where it meets with the door on top by window.

Both passenger and driver side door panels become warped and expose the insides of said doors.

The inside front passenger side door panel is lifting up away from the window. This car is garage kept and I have been working from home since March 23, 2020 so it has not been left out in the sun. The interior vinyl is pulling away and separating from the body. This happened when stationary and is getting increasingly worse.

The front, passenger door of my vehicle is becoming warped and has detached from the door near where the panel meets the window. I've been researching this issue online and have discovered it is a widespread problem with Chrysler/Dodge vehicles. My original dealer warranty has expired. I filed a recall complaint through the Chrysler website and am waiting for a response. Please help in any way you can. Thank you.

Interior door panels are warped and lifted. I complained to Chrysler along with many others, and my complaint was denied twice. This manufacturing defect causes temperature inside my vehicle to be compromised due to the lack of insulation.

My door panels are warping my car is 3 years old and is extremely too soon to be experiencing this kind of damage. If for whatever reason it causes damage to my airbags it's putting me and my child at risk of serious injury.

I was hit from behind on I 20 going west in conyers approx. 5:45 in morning. There was an obstacle in my right lane. This obstacles was a car bumper. My insurance has totally said my car is un repairable. This has cause a hardship for me.

Have an Chrysler 2005 300 c and with the proper cleaning and maintenance. The vehicle's paint has defect's which require a full body paint job. This vehicle is in perfect condition. Other than the paint and the turn signal was working fine until they replaced the driver side air bag. Now, the turn signal has an malfunction. The paint issue will require at the utmost $5,000. 00 in repair to the car owner to which insurance doesn't cover. If there was a defect which cause the clear coating and the paint to "not last " this issue should have been discovered prior to date. The mercedes paint last longer than the year's we've owned this vehicle.

Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that over time the door panel had uplifted and seperatede from the door frame causing the locking mechanism to malfunction on occasions. The failure had affected both the front driver and passenger side door. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,000. Jft.

On may 31, 2019 I was parking my 2012 Chrysler 300 in front of a convenience store. . As I was about to put the car in park it car accelerated on its own and entered the store through the plate glass window. The vehicle stopped due to an object in its way. The airbags never deployed.

The drivers side door will not latch in cold weather. I have to drive with the door open sometimes it will lock and keep door closed other times it will not.

The front driver and front passenger door panels are peeling up and continue to do so which will eventually impede the ability for the door locks to engage or disengage properly.

I have a 2017 Chrysler 300s with 10,000 miles on it and the front bumper keep hanging lower on the driver side. I took it in to the Chrysler bodyshop and the try to fix it and them say they replace the bumper with a new one and I still have the same problem. The front is about to come off from my car!!! there need to be a recall on the front bumper of the Chrysler 300 front bumpers!!! this is the 5 time that I have taken this car to the shop about this bumper!!! please help!!.

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that all four door panels fell apart. The contact stated that the panel garder popped up on all four doors and became loose. Water may leak into the vehicle and the panels had boldges in them. Vehicle was parked and unoccupied but running and it slipped out of gear and rolled into a parked vehicle. Claim number 20-5560-f20.

Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that both rear doors failed to lock and had to manually unlock the door. The contact stated that the electric power switch to lock and unlock the doors it does not unlock the rear doors only the front doors. The key fob only unlock the front and not the rear doors. The contact also stated that the speedometer failed to function. The dealer nor manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact mention the failure for the speedometer going on for a year. The failure mileage unknown. Aw.

Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle there was smoke emerging from the vents. There was fire emerging from the dashboard. The vehicle doors failed to open. The fire department arrived and distinguished the fire. A police report was filed. There was no crash. There were no injuries due to the fire. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to a independent mechanic and deemed a total loss by the insurance agency. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 126,000. Ap.

I was stop waiting on my turn and my car accelerate on its own, I wasn't able to stop it and hit another vehicle and still was not stopping till I was able to get it neutral. . Very very scary situation.

1. While driving at normal speeds my car seems to struggle shifting into gear. It also makes clunking sounds going up hill. Today I accelerated to get onto the highway and the vehicle made a loud noise for a few seconds and finally got up to speed. 2. My vehicle also has a factory rust proofing and the quarter panels are showing large spots of rust on the front and rear of the vehicle.

Takata recall I was driving on the highway doing 40 mph and had to come to brief stop and the car started shaking violently. I almost got into a major accident during traffic. Now everytime I drive the car and try to brake now it shakes and is very unsafe. I then looked under the car and saw that the entire front subframe and engine cradle was completely rusted out to the point that it might break at any moment. I no longer can drive my car safely and I need my vehicle to get to and from work, wife's work and my sons school. I had the car looked at by a mechanic and they said it's going to be very expensive and needs done immediately. They also said that the Chrysler pacifica 2006 had the same exact problem and that they had to be recalled. My car only has 50000 miles on it and was garage kept. So I feel like this should not be a problem with my car. It's so dangerous and should be known about. I will have to get it fixed this week and it will cost me a fortune. Thank you!.
