1 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 09/22/2015

Ref. Nhtsa pe13016 "faulty fuel tanks" make: Chrysler; model: 300 limited; component: fuel delivery system. Every time we re-fuel the car to the "full" level, the car hesitates and stalls. On two separate occasions, this stalling has resulted in an potential collision with another vehicle being avoided only by astute driver intervention. The first occurrence was in September 2015 and has consistently repeated during every refueling since. No research or attempt to have it diagnosed or repaired has been successful. Chrysler corporation has no notification of this problem being associated with the provided VIN number and states that they can do nothing until such a notice is received. I am requesting your intervention on my behalf by notifying Chrysler corporation of this reported and known public safety issue and concern with the fuel delivery system. Once documented, I can arrange to have the necessary repairs made before any other emergency situations are experienced thereby preventing injury to my wife and/or myself or any other individuals involved in a preventable accident. Thank you for the courtesy of your time and the quick acknowledgement of receipt.

4 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 01/14/2014

I bought the 2006 Chrysler 300c new in 2007 and it worked fine until mid 2013. One day after getting off the freeway I pulled into a gas station and filled the car with gas. In about 1-2 minutes after leaving the station the car bucked then stalled. It took several attempts to get it started. This situation has happened over and over again. It came to a head this week when I went to the gas station filled the tank and soon after leaving it stalled in traffic -I restarted it after almost causing an accident got going and it stalled again. I restarted with great difficulty and entered the on ramp----as I was building speed it stalled for the third time in less than 5 minutes and this time I was so close to an accident. Now I have been to two dealerships and replaced numerous parts including the canister, some oil temp/pressure sensor, cleaned injectors, replaced plugs, a coil and too many to mention. The people at the dealership look at me like I am smoking crack ever time I complain. It wasn't until yesterday that I looked on the internet to find there are others with the same problem---I am not crazy. How do I get this fixed???.

5 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 12/04/2013

For the 5th time in 12 months, my 2006 Chrysler 300c stalled after filling up at a gas station, nearly causing an accident. I previously brought it to a mechanic who did a tune up, new spark plugs, and even replaced valve lifters to try to resolve this issue, to no avail. I finally did a google search and see that many other people have this problem. It is ridiculous to me that this has not been a recall, as it is very dangerous to stall when pulling out into traffic after filling up the tank with gas.

6 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 12/04/2013

I was driving back home from atlanta and I stopped to fill up in macon. As I drove up the entrance ramp to I-75 the car stalled leaving me partially on the hi-way. A semi narrowly avoided rear ending me. After a few seconds the car started and I drove away. This is the 3rd time this has happened. A mechanic told me this is common on this type of car and the only fix is a new gas tank, which is very expensive.

7 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 11/19/2013

I am the original owner w/o having the experience of the 300c stalling while depressing the accelerator previously. The car now stalls 3 to 4 times after refueling. I have purchased high-octane gas from the same vendor since 2004 w/ no issues. My mechanic thought it might be residue from the gas tank given the vehicle age or an air bubble because I let the tank get to ~ 2 gallons. Mechanic could not find any codes indicating issues. The car now stalls w/I a minute of refueling while taking my foot off the accelerator several times between station & home. The car will not start in n, it has to be in p. Typically the next day after refueling the car is fine, fortunately I did not make it to the highway when my car stalled requiring the more than 2 turns of the key in p. Again no readings on autoscanner that I purchased because time/$ prohibit going to mechanic constantly. My son is learning to drive and teaching a 16 year old how to operate a stalled vehicle with no steering is difficult. Upon stalling, the car brakes are the only option of controlling the vehicle. I hope Chrysler finds a fix because this car has been very reliable.

10 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 07/24/2013

I'm writing this because I believe that these 300s with hemis are death traps waiting to happen and strongly feel that a recall is necessary. It's happened about 8 times since we bought the vehicle in July, 2013 but the latest was last week, Saturday, March 8, 2014 at about 11:30pm. My husband, my 6 mo baby, and myself had just filled up the gas tank on our way home. We were making a right turn out of the gas station and onto the main road, when the car went completely dead. The engine shut down and the steering wheel locked up. My husband had to put the car in park and, after about 3 attempts and a good 20 seconds or so, he finally got the car started. It spurted a little but started to move. About a mile later, we were pulling onto our street, when the car died again and did the exact same thing. Lucky for us there weren't many cars on the street and everyone was alright but this is not safe! this has happened in the middle of the day when oncoming traffic was going full speed, at least 45 mph!! someone can die! after this latest incident, I've refused to drive the car due to it's unreliability and our car is currently at the dealership and has been for the past 2 days-going on 3. It took the service manager 2 days to figure out it's a faulty gas tank and that's after we told him about the NHTSA investigation, action number: pe13016, which just ended, February 10, 2014. Apparently, Chrysler extended it's warranty to cover gas tanks for a lifetime but, not for all Chrysler 300s! we are being charged $1,905 for our gas tank to be replaced, which should be eligible for a lifetime warranty on our fuel tank but I called Chrysler today and they told me that there is no extended warranty attached to our VIN. Please help before someone gets seriously injured and recall all gas tanks or at least extend the warranty to cover more, if not all Chrysler 300s!!.

15 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 01/06/2012

Car stalls 4-6 times after fillup. The first time it happened I stalled on a busy street during rush hours traffic. I was almost hit twice. I ended up coasting into gas station where I called aaa as I was afraid to continue home. It has happened 7 times since then. The last time I was entering the freeway. I went to dealer, they said they didn't know what the problem was. Its obvious that they did. Many 2005 Chrysler 300c owners are experiencing the same problem. Chrysler is not stepping up to the plate and fixing this well known problem. Does someone have to die before the problem is addressed. They are telling people all kinds of things including charging for replacing the gas tank. This is definitely a defect that needs to be addressed. I cant believe they are getting away with this after charging over 40k for this car.

16 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 11/06/2011

I just purchased my car in late April it is now November. I didn't notice the brake problem which is a vibration when I came to a stop, until a week after. I figured I probably need new brake pads. One of my least concerns. But last month I began to smell gas. I thought it was just the other vehicles around me or the location I was at. I looked under the car and there's was no leak. I kept doing this when I smelled gas and nothing. Last night November 6 2011, I filled up my tank to go out of town. When I was leaving to go back home from the long ride, the parking area smelled like gas! it was leaking from my car! about a quarter of gas leaked. This time I saw a puddle on the ground where the back passenger side would be. Not only was this embarrassing but I had my wife and child with me in the car that I had to take home smelling this as well as taking the risk of blowing up! we did not have any other way of getting home, that's why I had no choice and took the risk. Thank god we got home safe. This is just ridiculous.

Not able to fill gas tank to full. If filled to full mark or allowed for gas station pump to automatically shut off at full. The vehicle will stall after a few blocks. This will happen 3-5 times before you can continue. This can happen at different speeds and is very dangerous. This started early 2012 and will do this at every full fill up. When I filled up my 2005 Chrysler with gas on Jan. 9th with the tank just 1/2 full at the time, I didn't even make it out of the gas station and it killed on me. Then I restarted it and within 2 blocks it killed again losing all power to the car. I have filled up twice since then, with the gas tank being at 1/4-1/2 full each time. It has stalled out each time, twice within 2 blocks of each other. Right before it kills, it chugs and lurches and then just quits running. The last time was yesterday, Jan. 18th. This time I was almost hit from behind as I pulled to the side of the road and put on my hazard lights.

28 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler 300

Failure Date: 01/01/2006

The car stalls out at slow speeds and this is occurring shortly after filling up the gas tank or when the tank is almost empty. If you do a google search on "300c stalling" you will literally see 1000's of complaints on this issue. The fix seems to be "replace the gas tank" according to the dealer/Chrysler. If this is the case and it's a known issue, why isn't Chrysler replacing everyone's tanks. I've been in several situations that were near miss accidents entering/exiting a parking lot into busy traffic or merging onto a freeway where the car stalled and I lost all power to the steering and brakes. This has happened several times since I owned the car (which I bought brand new) but at the time I thought maybe it was just basic vapor lock. As it turns out, that's not the case. This is a serious safety issue as you can imagine what could happen if you try to enter traffic from a parking lot or try to merge onto a freeway from an onramp and the car stalls out. Chrysler isn't stepping up to the plate to resolve this matter. To make matters worse, it seems only the original or early models of the vehicle are having this issue and likely all of them are out of warranty so there's no recourse to the consumer except to spend the money out of pocket for the parts and labor. The problem seems to occur when the car goes from an idle (or slow moving speed - 15/25 mph) to when you accelerate (speed at which you accelerate to is not a factor). Please advise/help.
