Cooling Fan problems of the 1999 Chrysler 300M

Two problems related to cooling fan have been reported for the 1999 Chrysler 300M. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2005

1. Normal everyday driving. 2. Radiator/condenser cooling fan burnt up; could smell electrical components and saw smoke coming from fan unit. Blew 30a fuse and smoke/smell stopped. A/c quit working due to fan quitting and fuse blowing. I was on my way back to dallas texas from georgia when this blew. Luckily the car kept running on one of the two fans, and it was at night when it wasn't so hot! had to replace dual cooling fan unit. 3. Replaced dual cooling fan unit and 30a fuse. $300. 00 repair done by myself since the car is not in warranty.

2 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2001

During operation of vehicle temperature of the engine will run hot. Dealership has examined vehicle, and replaced engine cooling fan and thermostat. Also, found metal shavings in engine compartment. On the last visit, dealer found the radiator partially blocked causing overheat condition, dealer replaced radiator, and cleaned coolant passages of aluminum chips.
