Four problems related to engine stall have been reported for the 1999 Chrysler 300M. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Engine intermittently stalling at dangerous highway speeds (60 or 70mph) and at times when coming to a stop. Engine has stalled unexpectedly several times over the past eight months for no apparent reason and then starts right back up after coming to a stop. Lights, indicator lights and instrument cluster sometimes flicker on and off right before stalling. Car has had diagnostics ran on it, but no error codes were present.
The consumer stated the engine stalled. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the problem.
Speedometer drops to zero, car will not shift out of second, when slowing down to stop the engine stalls. Have had problem twice in 2 years. Both times the transaxle output speed sensor was replaced.
Consumer states that on two occasions the engine stalled due to a faulty sensor that was installed by the dealer. . Consumer stated when incident first happened, the dealer stated the sensor switch in the transmission was faulty and shut down the motor to protect the transmission, the dealer replaced the sensor, the incident has happened a second time.
