Hello, I would just like to take the time to explain the situation with my year 2000 Chrysler Concorde lx. I am a college student and I purchased this car roughly a year and a half ago with 41,000 miles on it. The carfax vehicle report stated that the car had perfect routine maintenance and it was owned by one female owner over the course of its life. After owning the car I now have about 65,000 miles on this car, with perfect routine maintenance. I am experiencing the symptoms of the engine sludge problem that these 2. 7 liter engines experience. My rpms are dropping to low revs at idle, and my mechanic says that the engine will eventually seize while driving. At this point I no longer drive the vehicle and leave it stationary in my parents garage. To replace these engines they cost around 4,000 - 10,000 dollars. That is more than the price of the vehicle itself. There is clearly a defect in the engine design, and any quick google search can show this. There are hundreds upon thousands of complaints online in public forums and engine orientated websites. I only hope that this organization investigates this situation, and takes it seriously.
The motor on a my 2. 7l 2000 Chrysler contour rod bearings went out ruining the motor. The repair would be 3,000. I did not know it was a known incident with these motors that Chrysler uses in this model. The motor went out on a camping trip 180 miles away from home. I left the car at a shop and am currently donating it to charity.
My wife was driving our 2000 Chrysler Concorde lx with the 2. 7 liter engine when the engine blow up luckily there was no one in front or back of her when this happened.
The contact owns a 2000 Chrysler Concorde. While driving 40 mph, the rod began knocking in the motor and the vehicle began to decelerate. The vehicle would not gain speed and was driven to an auto shop. The mechanic stated that the motor failed completely and was no good. The current and failure mileages were 53,000. Updated 04/28/08.
With only 53,000 miles, regular maintenance and oil changes my cars 2. 7l v6 engine needs replaced. This has been a problem for many, many customers and while still owing large sums of money on our loans, are stuck without vehicles because of the enormous cost involved in this repair. Having this problem has left our family in a very bad position, and Chryslers failure to act upon it is causing great hardship for many of their customers.
The contact owns a 2000 Chrysler Concorde. While driving 10 mph, the vehicle suddenly stopped without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it is currently located. The dealer stated that there was sludge build up that led to the failure. The VIN, engine size, number of cylinders, and powertrain were unknown. The current and failure mileages were 72,000.
Engine knocks at 115,000 miles. According to resources this is a common problem that leads to engine malfunction.
I was just driving one night home from my mothers house and the engine just blew with no warning. I have changed my oil every 3,000-3,500 miles and after reading the hundreds of complaints about the 2. 7 Chrysler engine I am quite displeased that a company can get away with this kind of neglect.
The contact owns a 2000 Chrysler Concorde. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle lost power without warning. As of January 3, 2008, the dealer or manufacturer had not inspected the vehicle. The failure mileage was 85,000 and current mileage is 95,000. The VIN, engine size and number of cylinders were unavailable.
I was driving along interstate 295 just passing into massachusetts on October 20th 2006 when I heard my engine making horrid sounds, all of a sudden I had no control and instead of panicking like a normal driver and crashing horribly(which would have happened I assure you) I popped the car into neutral, turned off all power and coasted into the breakdown lane(turning with no power is no fun at all). As it turns out my engine had blown up while I was driving which could have killed me and had my 2 week old daughter and fiance been in the car they as well. My mechanic told me that I should not have been able to do what I did but I was lucky and there were very few drivers on the road. I have worked at oil change garages and I do regular maintenance on my car. The fault is with the engine.
I went to start my vehicle one morning and it would not start. I had my brother and father in law whom are mechanics come take a look at it and they said the engine was filled with sludge. We then cleaned out the engine real good and changed all the liquids in it. It worked for approximately a month. I then got up in the morning to go to work and started my vehicle and went to my mothers down the road before work. On my way to work the engine started acting up and luckily I was just down the road from home. I went straight home and made it right before my Chrysler concord quit completely on me. I then had my brother in law again come look at it and he said the engine was toast and needed a new one. Now I had already replaced the motor approximately a year before this incident happened. Now I owe $8,000. 00 on this vehicle and can not drive it due to not being able to afford to replace the motor again. It sets in my drive as a lawn ornament now. Now the incident date below is an approximate date since this happened some time ago. But I know it was in the summer time after June of 2006.
My 2000 Chrysler Concorde 2. 7 liter with 56,000 miles was just reported by dealership that the engine was shot because of sludge build up. I was puzzled because I change my oil every 3,000 miles ? please help me ! thanks, lance.

The consumer stated the vehicle would not start, after diagnosing the vehicle, the consumer was told it needed a new timing chain. I have a 2000 Chrysler concord with 62566 miles on it. This car has the 2. 7l engine in it and it is now dead due to lack of compression. My little sister was driving this car when the engine completely died. A three year 36 thousand mile powertrain warranty is unacceptable. I opening a complaint with chrylser but from what I have seen on the internet from other consumers it does not appear to be any recourse.
Sludge in the engine of a Chrysler concord 2. 7l engine resulting in thousands of dollars to repair. Routine maint. Had been preformed and yet sludge still built up. This is a design flaw, not a maint. Problem.
The car was idling for about 20minutes, then it started to idle up quite high then bog down low, after that I turned the ignition off, waited for my husband. Got the car to his fathers house, barely, then took it to where we bought it from. Then it died and won't start back up. The car only has 105,000 miles on it. Engine is completly gone.
While driving 45 mph the consumer could not stop the vehicle. Then after trying to coast home, the vehicle had to be towed to the dealer, who told the consumer that engine was full of sludge, and needed to be replaced. The warranty company stated that the vehicle had a lack of maintenance, and they would not cover the cost.
Consumer stated that vehicle and the motor was shot. While consumer was driving vehicle knocked, and before he could exit the knocking got real loud. Afterwards, vehicle died. Consumer said he had to push vehicle to his home, but later had it towed to a dealer, who examined the vehicle, and told consumer that the motor was defective, and it would cost him $7500. 00 to get it repaired. The engine stops running like it is out of gas. After safely stopping pulling over etc. I can restart the car but this is not safe for a year 2000 automobile.
We first saw a dealership regarding a clicking in the engine compartment on April 26, 2004, then again on July 16, 2004 at a different dealership. On the latter date, the battery was replaced and the oil changed. On 7/25, the engine. I was fortunate that I had just pulled into my driveway when this occurred. We replaced the engine early in 2005. When the tech broke down the old 2. 7 liter engine, he wrote, ". . . Rod bearings worn and rod tap noise the engine showed no signs of abuse or alteration. . . ". The engine was replaced with a different engine. At this time, we are preparing to request compensation from daimler-Chrysler.
At 85,000 miles my engine in which I have done my oil changes, had sludge in it, now after 90,000 the engine knocks real bad and must be replaced, the dealer told me that my personal extended warrenty will not cover it because of the crap in the engine, which they said I caused it because I did not do my oil changes and I did.
2000 Chrysler Concorde with approx. 94k miles is having what the Chrysler mechanic calls a "blow by" and is unsafe to drive. They say we need a new engine costing approx. $8000!!! we haven't even made it to the first tune-up! we've maintained the car with oil changes every 3k miles at the dealership. We always asked them to inform us of any impending car problems since we were on the highway a lot. No suggestion of a heavier weight oil or anything! this appears to be a factory defect in the 2. 7 ltr engine that Chrysler knows about and should fix! we're attempting to negotiate with dealership now.
My son was going about 46 miles an hour when the car just quit I took it to the dealer and was told the the engine just feel apart for no reason. I had the oil changed every three thousand miles and it has 90,000 . He was on a major hiway and was very lucky no one hit him.
2000 Chrysler Concorde engine blew due to oil sludge buildup (car has 59100 miles on it) according to internet testimonials, lots of other people have had the same problem when it reaches a certain mileage. Chrysler does not want to assist. Dealership stated that 4 of the same kind of cars have been in with the same problem recently. How is the consumer protected from cars that are not made to last 3 years with proper maintenance?.
While making a left turn, the engine blew out. When this occurred it broke valves and the vehicle lost power. The consumer was almost hit by another vehicle. The mechanic informed the consumer the parts in the vehicle were too small and the engine was not getting enough oil.
Driving our 2000 Chrysler Concorde along atlantic city expressway oil light came on, we went to pull off road immediately and engined died. We had to replace engine , mechanic indicated sludge in engine and advised that there was a problem with these engines. We had no warning of this until oil light came on and engined died immediately after it came on. We were fortunate to get the vehicle onto the shoulder.
Engine died in traffic without any warning. Towed to mechanic who stated that engine had blown due to sludge buildup.
I purchased a 2000 Chrysler Concorde in August 2003 from a used dealership and the engine went out on 11-22-03 with 44,000 miles on it.
My brother was driving my car on the expressway, he was going about 70 mph when the engine locked up and he had to keep the car under control until he could get the car to the side of the road. Thank god know one was hert or killed. The car is a 2000 Chrysler Concorde with a 2. 7 liter engine.
The engine on my 2000 Chrysler Concorde failed. I made it to a dealer before the car actually quit. I have only 80,000 miles on the car and have been told I need a new engine for $7,100. I have since found out that this is a common problem with the Chrysler 2. 7l engine even though the dealership who sold me this car never mentioned it to me.
The engine developed serious varnishing at top of engine after coolant was changed at 30,000 miles. Engine totally failed at 60,000 due to varnish and sludge build up. This well maintained Chrysler 2. 7 liter v6 failed at an alarming rate. The technical service bulletin 07-002-02 was issued by Chrysler regarding coolant servicing. They tell me coolant had nothing to do with varnish and sludge and they refused any help or assistance. Repair is estimated over $6,000.
Consusmer is hearing a noise from underneath vehicle. Consumer assumes it may be the tie rod. Consumer has been to the dealer twice, but they haven't found anything wrong. The dealer replaced the mount, insulator for front suspension and bearing-suspension strut.
While in heavy traffic vehicle surges and may cause a frontal impact. Dealer cannot determine the cause of the problem. However, dealer replaced engine components. Transmission changed, surge still continues.
My son just purchased this car four months ago and the timing b elt has just snapped off and damaged the entire engine without any warning, the local dealership will not assist in helping with the cost because the 3/36 was all that was offered. Can anyone be of assistance here!.
