I was driving approximately 55 mph and the rear convertible window detached from the top. It appears that the adhesive no longer holds the window to the convertible top. This is a safety hazard that should be fixed by Chrysler but it is not covered.
Rear window fell out completely in the middle of a thunderstorm with my wife driving. The window happened to fall inside the vehicle but it could have caused an accident if it had fallen outside the car. She was lucky that the window did not fall on her and we only got wet.
Called Chrysler corporation about rear window separating from top. They said it would be replaced but I would have to go to a dealer for pictures and inspection. They suggested manahawkin Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram rt 72 manahawkin, NJ 08050 609-597-1097. My car was inspected and pictures were takened by dealer on 8/15/14 as per Chryslers request. Invoice number chcs113759. I have a paper from dealer stating window is separating from top and will notify Chrysler with results. I received a call from Chrysler corp. Stating mine is not covered because it was not delivered in specified states. I could not understand the logic that certain states would be covered and others not when they were all made in the same locations. They problem exist on all the convertibles. I do travel and if I went by their concept to only cover states that have high temperatures what do I do when I travel to those states with the car? I ask for your help in this since this is a car manufacturers defect. It doesn't matter where you live the car has the problem in all states. Thank you very much for your assistance.
I purchased this vehicle and not long after, the rear window of the convertible top came loose. I contacted Chrysler about the issue. I've been verbally told that there was a replacement note that affected Chrysler Crossfires for 9 states. The vehicle had to be originally sold in one of these 9 states. I can't remember the 9 specifically but. . . My vehicle was originally sold in kansas (which is not part of the 9 states replacement clause), I live in mo which is covered by the replacement clause. The lady that I spoke to said that it was a humidity issue that would cause the window to unglue. . . . So, I argued that my vehicle is now registered in a state that they claimed has the level of humidity that would cause the known issue, but, she stayed firm on the fact that my vehicle was originally sold in kansas and that that state is not part of the replacement deal. . / what are my right as a consumer? I have water getting in my trunk which caused multiple electrical issues. And now, I'm stuck with the bill or keeping the vehicle as is. Thank you Chrysler.
While driving my car with the top up my rear window became detached. I took the car into the dealership and they informed me that even though the 2005 Crossfire roadster was covered for the same problem they were not covering the 2006. I contacted Chrysler directly in July of 2014 they told me the same thing. I then had to make a temporary repair for $ 150 and in September 2014 had to replace the top for $ 2,457. 62 at a shop recommended by the Chrysler dealership. So I am out of pocket $ 2,607. I contacted Chrysler again last week 5 23 2015 and they replied that since my vehicle was not built in 2005 they were still not covering it. This is a very dangerous problem experienced by numerous drivers. If this window were to come out while driving it could seriously injure or kill a pedestrian or other driver. Chrysler has covered the 2005 for this problem but not later models. You will see over 20 complaints on the safecar. Gov site from other drivers with the same complaint same model and year. There are numerous complaints all over the web about the same problem. I guess Chrysler and the government wants to wait until people are killed before acting.

The rear glass window on my convertible top became detached from the surrounding material. Apparently the glue holding the window on failed. I pulled over and secured it before it flew off and potentially hit another car or pedestrian. This is a previously know problem with this model for the 2004 and 2005 model years. Chrysler has issued a recall for cars with this problem in certain southern states of which I live in one texas. I contacted Chrysler today and they indicated my area was covered but not my model year. I have seen numerous complaints online about this occurring in other 2006 models. This could potentially be an extreme hazard to other autos and pedestrians.
I purchased this car this year from a Chrysler executive who has owned it for years. She told me that while driving it the rear glass window fell out. This was her daily driver so she had it re glued as fast as she could so she would have a car to get to work. She did not know of the TSB on this. TSB-23=035-11 called x-31/adhesion. I bought the car this year and the window is loose on the edges and I am afraid it will fall out and cause an accident. I took it to a dealer and they do not know what to do. They said because it was already fixed it would probably not be covered. Is this true? I bought this car to be a daily driver, not a sunny day driver.
I own two Crossfire convertibles; a 2005 and 2007. In 2010 my glass fell out of my rear top in the 2005 Crossfire at the airport . When I got back it had fallen completely out except for the cord connecting the defogger. This damaged a computer part which cost over $1000 in the truck from water. Anyway in July of 2014 the exact same thing happened to my 2007 Crossfire convertible. Over a period of a few days the rear glass just fell completely out. The glue just gave way. ( what einstein thought any glue would hold a heavy plate glass window to canvas anyway). Both of theses cars have been only garage kept. Anyhow I took the car to Chrysler and they told me I would have to pay $2540 to get a new top even though I had the extended bumper to bumper insurance protection. The plan apparently did not cover the top because it was considered upholstery. I proceeded to tell them the exact same thing happened to the 2005. Well behold to my delight there was so many complains on the 2005 top Chrysler had put an extension of the warranty to 100,000 or 10 years. The 2005 had only 40,000 miles put I had purchased in July of 2004 so I had just under a month left under the extended warranty. So by complaining about the 2007 I got a new top on the 2005. Course no one at Chrysler would have let me know , I found out only by chance. A reliable company would have sent out a written notice. I also find out that the 2007 has no such 100,000 extended warranty so I have been driving a car without a proper rear window because I am still waiting for Chrysler to fix the obvious manufacture defect. Why would they fix the 2005 and not the 2007 which is two years newer with the exact same problems ? my family have owned nearly a dozen Chryslers over the years but I think the problems with these windows may be enough to keep my from ever buying another. It is just poor business.

As I was driving home from work, the rear convertible window dislodged from the canvas by 80%. I slowly drove the vehicle to two local authorized Chrysler dearerships for inspections. Both dealerships stated that the 1/2' of adhesive that glued the window to the canvas had deteriorated and caused the window to come loose. The second authorized dealer took photos as well as I did documenting the damage. This car is rated by daimler-benz of speeds up to 154 mph. If the window would have completely dislodged it would have seriously injured or killed anyone traveling behind me. I was appalled by the cheap quality construction and workmanship of the install of this window. I have photos documenting the quality (or lack of) of the design. I have read some articles on the internet where owners claim that they (Chrysler-daimler-benz) have replaced roofs because of this defect. I believe in the interest of safety, that these vehicles should be manditorily recalled and forced to repair these serious defects.
Glass back window falling out of convertible top and Chrysler is refusing to fix there manufacture defect. This is a safety hazard to the driver of the car and other vehicles on the road.
The rear window is coming loose and it's leaking. . Modules in trunk shorted due to water leak.
I have a 2005 Crossfire convertible I am having a problem with the rear window in the top, in Nov 2013 I notice a separation of the top from the rear window and tried to glue it closed. At the time it was a 1" gap I was able to seal it . Now the window has fell out completely. I call my Chrysler dealer (931-520-4121 in cookeville ,TN) and was told they wouldn't fix because the car came from michigan, if it had came from a southern state they would fix ???. Its a good thing it fell out in the drive way in stead of flying out at interstate speeds or during a panic stop or collision. The glass is really hefty and could kill someone if struck by it . My car now only has 51,000 miles now. I feel as a safety concern for the general public this matter should be address in a timely manner thank you dan day.
Rear window is coming loose - one side has completely delaminated. Sounds like it is going to fall or break. I have seen and heard that Chrysler will stand behind it up to 10 years or 100,000 miles. I took my car to a garage and he told me that I should contact Chrysler. If the top is up, I cannot drive faster than 45 mph without it vibrating. This is a severe safety hazard. Can you help me? 12/26/2013.
The rear window came unglued from the convertible top while driving down the highway. If the defroster cable had not held the window would have flown out, and could have seriously harmed other motorists. Chrysler knows of this issue and has issued TSB 23-035-11 which acknowledges the defect and will repair it, but only for cars sent to certain dealerships. This should be fixed on all 2005 Crossfires. The vehicle is now undriveable and has to have the entire top replaced.
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Crossfire convertible. The contact stated that the rear windshield became detached from the convertible top. The vehicle was taken to both the dealer and a private mechanic, who both stated that the failure was caused by the adhesive used to attach the windshield. The failure was reported to the manufacturer, who refused to provide assistance with repairs. The failure and current mileage was 31,960.
The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire. The contact stated that the rear windshield became detached from the convertible top. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but they refused to assist with the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure was reported to the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 69,000. Rear glass window separated from convertible top.
This serves as an addendum to our (and many others') complaints. The Chrysler TSB that you have on file, only lists the affected systems as "visibility", and it calls for repair (?) when it actually specifies replacement as the only recommended remedy, at a typical cost of $2,500; to be provided or reimbursed to a small select group of owners, even though this failure continues to occur nationwide. This is absurd. We should note that the term "structure" as an "affected part" no longer appears in your e-mail complaint form (we wonder why?) all modern convertible roof tops and windows are intended and designed for safe, long term use in any expected driving conditions, thus the use of dot approved safety glass and electronic rear window defrosters, especially when conditions require the roof top to be in the "up" position. The negative results of any window detachment, visibility, stability of the vehicle, safe reaction by the driver, weather protection, electrical malfunction etc. , both immediate and potential long term, in a case where the vehicle must still be driven any unknown distance unprotected from whatever conditions possible, may well prove catastrophic and must be considered completely unacceptable by any standard, especially that of our u. S. Government. Your publication (dot hs 808 795) states: "similarly a person may. . Petition (request) NHTSA to hold a hearing on whether a manufacturer has reasonably met its obligation to notify and/or remedy a safety defect or noncompliance with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. If the petition is granted, a hearing is held to assess the matter and decide what corrective action should be taken. If the petition (request) is denied, the reasons for the denial are published in the federal register". At the very minimum, Chrysler had an obligation to notify all of the potential (& inevitable) failure! please help.
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Crossfire. The contact stated that rear the window detached from convertible top. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 24,000.
The rear window in my 2005 Chrysler Crossfire roadster became unglued and will not stay in place; this makes the car unsafe to drive, as the window may come out at any time, striing someone or causing an accident. This car was purchased in Nov 2008 with only 16,800 miles on it, and has been garage kept since. This is a known manufacturing defect, having affected dozens of these cars, as well as other Chrysler convertibles produced during that time. Chrysler has acknowledged the issue, but will only repair vehicles delivered to specific southern states, no matter where you live, bought the car, etc.
Drain pipes do not drain water, causing the rain, car wash, or any excess water to drain into the car. About 2 gallons ended up on the passenger floor board. Very common problem.

The passenger side rear stabilizer body mount bracket was found to be 90% separated from the body. The mount bracket has 4 weld points on the body frame. The welds are electrical welds. One break was along the weld at the junction point of the bracket to the body. The other 2 separations were along the midpoint of the bracket support legs. The rearward support legs are approximately 1 inch wide. Both were broken. The forward legs are approximately 1 half inch wide and one was broken on the outboard passenger side. The driver side bracket shows no sign of problems. The thickness of the steel in the bracket is approximately 3/32 inches. This vehicle was involved in a low speed front end collision approximately 3 years prior to this problem forming. Images are available.
The rear adhesive on my 2005 Chrysler Crossfire roadsters rear window, that holds it to the soft top convertible, has begun to detach. I have called Chrysler about the issue and they explained that my vehicle was not covered by the warranty and they will not assist. This is a huge safety concern for me because the window could detach while driving and possibly cause harm and/or death to other drivers on the roadway. I found a service bulletin on the issue with a bulletin # sb-23035-11reva that recommends that the convertible top be inspected and/or replaced if defective. Chrysler is not helping at all with this serious safety issue to help me fix it and make my vehicle safe for myself, and the others around me. I am a member of Crossfireforum. Org and there are many other people with this issue that have either gotten it replaced by Chrysler for free, or paid a CO-pay to help them fix the problem, but I was offered neither for this extremely unsafe issue my vehicle has. Please help me in any way that you can.
The convertible top rear glass window fell out of the top, I have been told it is not covered under my Chrysler 8 year 80000 mile warranty but they have a recall for the 2005 Crossfire's and only in certain states. If this window blows out running 70 mph down the freeway someone could be injured or killed. They sent me to a repair shop to have it re-glued at my expense. I called and tried to get Chrysler to fix this the right way but was refused any satisfaction.
At 28,000 miles I noticed the back window is coming loose. Three sides completely separated. Went to an upholsterer who advised the entire top needs replacing. Manufacturer defect causes the fabric to shrink in warm temperatures pushing out back window. It has been re-glued. They did a fine job and advised it would not hold and they were right, it is now flopping around with only one side holding it in place. This is dangerous. The 2005 was recalled for this same problem. Same problem, same car, same manufacturing defect. It is more than time.
The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Crossfire. The contact sated that the vehicle was a convertible and the glass that was attached to the convertible top separated due to a defective seal. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and denied assistance with the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 49,000.
I am one of those affected by the rear window falling out of the Chrysler Crossfire. At first they offered to get me a new top for $700. Goodwill they said. I told them I couldn't afford it. They wound up rescinding the offer and refused to help me at all. I try to reglue the window but it falls out again. I am in NJ which is not one of the states they were helping people in. Please have Chrysler recall all Crossfires for this known problem. Thanks.
The rear window is falling out of the convertible top on my 2006 Chrysler Crossfire. The factory and dealership refuse to make I good, saying it is "normal wear" and that the top needs to be replaced! the original rear window in my uncle's 1958 impala is as secure as the day it was installed, so I reject Chrysler's claim of "normal wear"! there are thousands of similar complaints on the internet: why does the government not require Chrysler to fix this valid and persistent safety issue?.
The rear window just fell out on its own while parked. It came from factory with rear window glued to the convertible top and the glue did not hold.
Rear window on my rag top has come unglued have read were a lot of other Crossfires rag tops have the same problem. This is a defect that Chrysler needs to fix at no cost.
I have a 2006 Chrysler Crossfire and the I notice the rear window started detaching from the top, contacted dealer, with no help, contacted the Chrysler corp. No resolution, they informed me that my VIN number did not warrant , me getting my back window fixed , although the 2005 had a recall on the rear window, I informed them that the car was created in that same year but sold as a 06, they cared less about my problem. Thanks Chrysler for your great concern, about your customers not!.
The rear window started to fall out of the convertible top. This has a know problem by Chrysler and they have a service bulletin on (23-035-11) on cars sent to certain southern states but mine was from virginia and the are saying it is not covered. This appears to happen on all Chrysler Crossfire convertibles ,there is a glue defect on all these Crossfires and the heat from the southern states expedites the delamination. It gets just as hot in virginia. If a car was shipped to north carolina for a day then driven else were it would be covered, they recall makes know sense. This is a know defect by Chrysler on all the 2005 convertibles, they were all made in the same place. This is a dangerous condition to everyone and Chrysler needs to replace all these tops on the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire convertibles and/or extend the recall/bulletin to all the 2005 Chrysler convertibles before someone gets unnecessarily killed.
The rear glass of my 2005 Chrysler Crossfire convertable detached from the top and fell out suddenly at 65 mph. The only thing that saved it from causing possible injuries was the rear glass heater wiring. The car is garaged and only driven maybe one day a week.
Rear window is separating from convertible top. Could fall out. Chrysler is aware of this problem and is repairing some but not all due to the state it was delivered to. I want it to be on record that they were informed of this safety problem.
