3 Wiper problem of the 2007 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 05/18/2020

On may 18, 2020 as I was driving at about 25 mph, I heard a scraping noise coming from the rear glass area. I pulled over to determine what was the problem. I then noticed the rear glass window had fallen into the car, held intact by the rear defroster cord catching it and loosely dangling in the breeze. I informed Chrysler of this problem (Chrysler customer hotline 1-800-992-1997, case number 76293394), but they offered no assistance, even though I have researched this issue and have found many complaints through google and your own website, NHTSA. Gov. If I had been driving at an interstate speed of 65 mph, the glass could have entered the vehicle and killed me! I have also learned that Chrysler gave a 10 year/100,000 mile warranty to owners of 2005 Crossfires with the same issue! I demand not only an apology from Chrysler along with a no charge repair of this condition, but also the same treatment 2005 owners received, the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty. This vehicle has been meticulously maintained since delivery, driven sparingly, and garaged nightly. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

6 Wiper problem of the 2008 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 07/08/2019

On July 10 when I left the office, I was driving the car to go home in the afternoon and I noticed a strange noise coming from the back side of the vehicle. In the red traffic light stop I inspected the rear glass and I realized it is detached almost 70%, mainly the bottom portion, just the upper side was attached. I drove carefully about 5 miles to get home and I was worried because the glass can fall off from the car and have an incident while driving in the rush hour in the avenue I always take (45 miles/hr). I cannot drive the car in this condition. I investigated and I see similar reports about this rear glass coming off.

13 Wiper problem of the 2006 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 02/13/2018

This 2006 Crossfire roadster is garage kept. The car was parked, when the glass separated on three sides from the cloth convertible top. Failure of the rear window glass appears to be due to lack of attachment, other than adhesive glue. The cloth convertible top is in good condition. This poses a significant safety hazard to the public, considering the vehicle is rated at speeds in excess of 150 mph. It appears that Chrysler has recalled some 2005 models which have the same type convertible tops and glass windows, made by karmann. As the safety issues continue I would hope that Chrysler would recall all of these defective parts before the public is seriously injured or killed. I await an urgent response from Chrysler to fix this hazardous problem me. Please contact me with your best efforts to make this right and keep everyone safe. 2-13-18 disappointed driver in east tennessee.

This happended while the car was stationary, sitting in my garage, in jacksonville FL. 21 Wiper problem of the 2008 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 08/13/2016

Summary: the rear window glass separated from convertible fabric top while the vehicle was parked. Details: on 8/13/2016, at about noon, near bertram, texas, on a hot clear day, I parked the subject vehicle along the side of a residential road. The vehicle was in sight the whole time. Nothing struck or touched the vehicle while I talked to neighbors for about an hour. When I returned, the rear window had separated from the canvas on the bottom and sides, and the lower portion of the window was resting on the rear deck inside the car. The window was still precariously attached along the top. The wires connecting to the window glass defogging elements were still attached at the sides. It appeared the bead of glue around the edges had failed, perhaps due to heat. It had detached from the fabric side of the glue joint. I attempted to drive but the window was swinging around and hitting the car body, so I decided it was unsafe. I carefully lowered the top into the trunk and continued home. I returned the top to its ¿up¿ position and took photos of the separated window. It looked the same at that point as when I first noticed it. (photos included. ) I believe this is a serious safety concern because had the glue failed while driving on the highway, the rear window could have flown out or blown inward from the back draft, hitting the roll bars and shattering glass onto the driver. According to national news, Chrysler issued a TSB for this same problem for the 2005 model year of this vehicle in southern states (including texas) and is providing extended warranty coverage for only those vehicles. It appears this problem is not limited to model year 2005. Although that year may have more complaints since over 2/3 of all convertibles sold of this model were sold in 2005. I believe this is a serious safety-related defect that warrants a recall.

22 Wiper problem of the 2007 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 07/17/2016

I have a 2007 Chrysler Crossfire convertable. I walked out today in my driveway to find my rear glass window on my car has detached from the top. Had this happened while driving im sure I could have caused a serious accident. I called Chrysler at 800-247-9753 and gave them my VIN number after going online and seeing many people with 2005 thru 2008 Chrysler Crossfires rear window detached. They explained to me that th 10 year 100,000 extended warranty for rear glass on Chrysler convertables does not apply to my VIN number. That is unacceptable they are aware of many complaints for the same problem. They obviously know this is a known defect. Are they waiting to cause an accident where there is loss of life? please help.

23 Wiper problem of the 2007 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 07/08/2016

Glue failed on rear window glued to convertible canvas top. Vehicle was stationary.

24 Wiper problem of the 2007 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 06/15/2016

While driving I heard a bang in the back and sudden change of air in the cabin - rear window in my 2007 roadster separated from the top and fell inside - the only thing that prevented it from hitting me in the head was the electric wire (defroster) that window is attached to. I had to go below speed limit to make it home safely. Chrysler dealership said there was nothing they can do and it would cost over $1,500 to get it replaced, but tops are on back order right now and it will take several weeks to get it in. After research - seems unfair that a known problem that all owners of this car face was not addressed by the company.

25 Wiper problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 04/12/2016

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the rear window detached from the vehicle. 26 Wiper problem of the 2006 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 12/28/2015

Back window fell off the convertible top. I see this is the same issue with 2005 (which was repaired/recall by the mfg). Dealer said it was up to me to repair, had to ship the top to California for a complete new top (~ $3k). I live in florida. Don't understand how a back window falling off a moving car is not a safety issue. Only ~ 22k miles.

27 Wiper problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 09/25/2015

2005 Crossfire convertible top back glass defective factory used adhesive came mostly separated from top. The part glass still had adhesive tore top. I had it glued but entire top needs replacing. Glass came loose while parked. The design and adhesive should have been better product. I have had other convertibles here in mississippi and never had this happen. Chrysler should replace all these tops. Back glass reglued with window-weld. It not perfect now because glass tore top when fell out. Love the car hate the top. Hope they will stand behind their name.

Failure Date: 08/10/2015

Rear window fell out of convertible top.

31 Wiper problem of the 2006 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 08/05/2015

Rear glass in convertible top has separated from the fabric. Vehicle has less than 30,000 miles and is garage kept. Vehicle is not abused and top has only been retracted a total of approximately 15 times so it can not even be attributed to "normal wear and tear". This seems to me to be a manufacturing defect.

32 Wiper problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 07/30/2015

During a severe rainstorm the rear window glass detached from the convertible top allowing severe flooding of the interior of the vehicle causing various electrical failures to occur. This sudden and unexpected event caused an emergency stop in traffic that could have resulted in an accident. The residual damage from this event affects rear window visibility and electrical failures that involve the operation of the locking system, the anti fog rear window capability and other electrical systems in the rear part of the vehicle which I cannot access because of the inoperative top and trunk.

33 Wiper problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 07/24/2015

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire. The contact observed that when the top of his vehicle was down, the rear windshield would detach from the vehicle. The failure recurred continuously. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.

34 Wiper problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 07/23/2015

I came outside to find that the rear window of the convertible top had come loose and was laying on the rear deck being held to the fabric in 1 small place. The car had been parked outside for 1 day. Luckily it didn't fall out while I was driving, potentially shattering the glass near my head. Until the car is repaired it is unusable in foul weather due to water running in the passenger compartment.

35 Wiper problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

I came outside and found the rear glass of the convertible top had came loose from the fabric. The car was not being driven but just fell out on it's own.
