Car runs and drives well. However, our mechanice says the subframe is rusted so it will not pass inspection.
The sub-frame has rusted through, my mechanic is concerned about the possibility of the engine falling out if not addressed. It seems to be a common problem with the Pacifica model but I did not find out about it until I took it to my mechanic to find out why the car would "bounce" while driving down the road. It is especially noticeable when the car is shifting. He was shocked at the amount of rust he found underneath.
Front frame cradle rusted out. Was getting oil changed the garage I took it too brought it to my attention that is was very unsafe.
I took my car in for an oil change and the mechanic informed me that the main sub frame was rusted and my car would not pass inspection without this being repaired. I see there is a major problem that Chrysler will not address. I need help.
Subframe severely rusted to include areas around bolts to frame. Appears to have happened over time.
I gave my daughter my 2004 Chrysler Pacifica so she would have a vehicle that would transport her, her two children ages 7 and 2, her husband and friends, pets and/or others. Her husband is a mechanic and as soon as she got it home he looked it over and refused to let her drive it. He said that the sub-frame was rusted-out and that it was unsafe to drive. After some research into the matter I discovered that what he referred to as a sub-frame was called the "engine cradle" and that this has been a problem with the Pacifica(s). There were service bulletins sent to service centers and that Chrysler acknowledged a problem for the Pacifica built for only a few months. The problem has occurred on many other months and years. The potential for deaths and injuries is a reality! if this engine cradle were to give way at slow speeds there would probably only be injuries to the occupants, unless another vehicle were involved in which case more injuries and death could occur. If the engine cradle were to fail at highway speeds and the engine hit the highway I can envision an end-over-end crash that would likely kill the occupants. If there were other vehicles involved there is no telling how many injuries and deaths there may be. I don't know if this has happened yet and if so how many times and to what severities, but my daughter, my grandchildren and son-in-law are not going to be victims. I seriously hope that it does not take the loss of life or lives to have this potentially deadly problem addressed and corrected. The cost of the repair is higher than the worth of the vehicle and the manufacturer must absorb the cost the repair.
Has taken to state inspection and they said there's rust. Didn't think of it as a big issue until I read the hazards of rusting frame on the engine could drop the engine while driving. Now not driving it. It had a tire rod repaired last year and still went out this year. It might be due to corrosion. A lot of electronic problems too. Felt like wasted my money every year keeping this vehicle in shape. This state also likes selling these types of vehicle so they can juice folks money every year for inspections and repair. They put salt on the ground every winter that eats up the frames of the vehicle.
Extensive corrosion/rust on sub frame plate holding up the engine. Do not feel safe driving because it could snap and break at any moment.

Vehicle subframe severely rusted and corroded, informed unsafe to drive, many other owners with this issue. Motor could fall out and no help at all from Chrysler.
Took our 2004 Pacifica in today for an alignment to fix the shaking when the car is driven on the highway and was told that an alignment would be a waste of money due to the rusted out frame under the car. Hadn't heard a single word about this issue until today. We've had this car since 2005, bought with 12, 000 miles on it and now it has 85, 000. Still not bad for a car that is 11 years old and the body and interior are in very good shape. Now what to do?!!! thank you firestone for being honest and not charging us for your time. (can I mention that the car has been in for repairs about a year ago for another issue to a Chrysler dealership and not a word was spoken about this!!!) the engine mounts, k-frame is badly rusted to the point the suspension is out of alignment and cannot be adjusted. The car is unsafe to drive.
The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving at approximately 65 mph, there was a noise emerging from the engine area. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was a hole on the engine cradle caused by rust. The entire engine frame was rusted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
I went to go wash my 2004 Pacifica and when I got down on my hands and knees to wash the tires I noticed some rust under car so I got on my back and looked under my car and noticed my whole subframe was completely rusted out on both sides. I'm not to happy and I feel as if their should be a law suit filed. I have since read complaints and so far I havnt come across one person who lives in a snow state were the roads are salted in winter who have not had a rusted sub frame on their Pacifica. I don't know what the hold up is with Chrysler fixing what they sold to us!!!.
My 2004 Pacifica was recently in for oil change when mechanic said the engine sub frame is starting to rust out and this will not pass inspection. I was told to go to junk yard to find sub frame and someone will need to install it. I have seen a lot of compalints about Pacifica sub frame rust and even a class action suit filled in ohio in Jan 2015. Will chryslyer cover this issu?.
Bought car in for routine oil change and was informed of severe rust on k frame assembly and that car was dangerous to drive.
Tl- the contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the sub frame was rusted and cracked. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 158,000. Djr.
I took my 2004 Chrysler Pacifica to have routine maintanence done on it. I was told from my mechanic that my frame was rusty, rotten and had holes in it. He went on to say that it is dangerous to be driving as the frame of the car in an accident will not be effective and would basically crumble. He said to immediately take it to a Chrysler dealership and have them look at it. I took it as told to the dealership and they did confim my mechanics finding. They handed me a phone # to Chrysler. I called and got the run around again and again. Yes they are aware of the problem, but my car isnt included in the 7000 to be fixed. But yes it has the same issues, but no we cant help you. It is a $2500 fix that Chrysler is well aware of. I have poured over online articles, news casts, all concluding the same thing. Some get fixed and some dont. I was told by my dealership to file a comlaint, keep on complaining and hope Chrysler will help. It is a safety concern in driving my car, there is no safety in my car right now, nor is there any value to my car as even the dealership has told me. . . They cannot take it in on trade or anything else for that matter as it is unsafe. Help!!!! it appears that only the people that get any help are the ones that go to the press/news etc.
After multiple hard clunk sounds after braking, we investigated the underbody of our Pacifica. The frame has severe rust and some good sized holes present. We are concerned that the engine cradle is unsafe and will not hold the engine securely. This car has no rust on the exterior paint, only the under carriage is rusting out. This car has been garage kept and maintained, so there is no reason this should be occurring.
Had car on hoist notice that the engine cradle/ frame is rusted out, was advise not safe to drive.
Engine cradle/mount and frame is completely rusted out. Unsafe to drive. Stuck with a pile of steel that has no trade in value or resale value. Apparently, this effects almost every 2004 Pacifica. Nhtsa ought to be looking into this issue more closely. It's obvious that the hundred's who've registered a complaint on this website are feeling that the agency does not care to investigate. Shame on Chrysler; shame on NHTSA.
Sub-frame is rusting out.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.
Tl- the contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for tire service when he was advised that that the sub frame was rusted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they advised that the frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000. Kmj.
Sub frame completely rusted apart, resulting in dangerous front end conditions and expensive repair. Found similar issues for other Pacifica owners through research and believe this is a defective part and should be covered and recalled before someone gets hurt or killed.
I took my vechile in to the shop to get new tires and the mechanic informed me that the frame was rusted in half. He told me that I would have to replace the frame or the vechile would not be safe to drive.
The front subframe on my car has rusted pretty bad, I only lived in NJ for a little over a year. I got the car used when it had 40 thousand miles on it in georgia. It went through all the checks and somehow in another 40 thousand it gets holes in the front subframe! I read that this has happened a lot with this car and it seems that a lot of owners got it replaced even after 5 year warranty!.
After owning my 2004 Chrysler pacifia for 7 years, I was told by the dealer, during a routine oilchange, that the subframe is rusted out and wouldnt last much longer. There are two rust holes in the frame structure on the left side and more forming on the right side on the height of the wheels. Replacing the subframe (which holds the motor in place) would cost about +$4000!! I have always taking excellent care of this car. It is in great shape inside and out - except the frame. After doing some research online I have found that I am not alone. There is a mulitude of 2004 Chrysler owners having the exact same problem as I do. This issue needs to be resolved by Chrysler. A subframe is supose to last longer then 7 years!.
The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the sub frame was rusted and cracked under the front passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was advised that there was no warranty for the sub frame. The VIN was not available. The current and the failure mileages were 115,017.
While having a oil change perfromed mechanic noticed front subframe had rust holes in it. Subframe needs to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact heard a loud clicking noise from the front end of the vehicle. He vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who informed the contact that the sub frame had rusted and that the engine could possibly fall out and that vehicle was unsafe to drive. No repairs were performed. The dealer was contacted and advised that there were no related recalls to the failure and provided no additional assistance. The contact did not inform the manufacturer of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 157,000.
Took my 2004 Pacifica in for a routine oil change/service and was notified that the entire frame under the engine is rusting out. Actual rust holes in the frame. I have also noticed rust on the body. This is a garage kept vehicle and I baby it. From what I understand, it is going to take many more complaints about this issue or someone actually dying when the frame cracks and causes a severe accident before any action will be taken. I just hope it's not me or my kids, because I will not relent.
