Gas gauge fluctuates to empty with light and chime announcing no gas, but there is a three quarter tank full of gas. The engine turns off and steering locks without power. Used car purchased yesterday and we were stranded until we filled the tank with three gallons the car was in motion the first time it stalled. The second time it was idling at a stop light. The third time was in a parking lot. I turned the engine off than back on it resumed . We were heading in a straight directions.

Failure Date: 03/12/2015

We just bought our 2005 Chrysler Pacifica not to long ago, and the check engine light comes on and stays on, it also affects our gas milage, we had it checked and that's when we found out that there is a recall on the gas sensor in the tank, and every now and again when we make left hand turns it dies on us. We have a child with multiple disabilities and we need a vehicle that is going to be safe to get him to his appointments.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2014

My vehicle is having the same issue as the recall. I contacted Chrysler on July 30 2014. And was told that my VIN was not apart of the recall. I told them my vehicle is stalling as im going over 50mph my gas tank goes from half full to empty and the e light turns on. If I don't rush to the gas station my car will die as if it had no fuel left. ( leaving me stranded on the side of the road. With my children ). When I do put gas in its very slow and I have to hold the bar back on the gas pump itself or my car will turn the pump handle off. My rmp jumps up and down as im accelerating. It feels like my engine is hesitating. My gas pedal gets stuck while driving and I have to tap it with my foot to unstick it. How is this even safe. To recall some and not others. I'm a stay at home mother to 3 boys under the age of 5 years old. I read online the horror stories of people with the same problem and year make model everything and Chrysler is not doing anything to fix the problem. Please help me fix this problem before me and my children and everyone else before a serious accident is to happen. As of right now my car is state inspected. But I do not feel safe driving it anymore I so not want to risk the safety of my children's lives.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2013

I am continuously having problems with the fuel system. It constantly runs out of gas even though I may have recently put gas in. The gauge is always floating between empty and full, but within driving for a few minutes it will drop down on "e" and the gas light comes on. I've had the fuel line and tank checked for blockage, but the certified mechanic says that there's nothing blocking either. I must make frequent stops to put gas in again, but at no time will it allow me to pump more than $10-$15 worth of gas (regardless of the gas prices). Knowing that I've just put gas in, I'll continue to drive a while, but then the car will begin to slow down because it has shut down and the low fuel light will either come on or be on. I was told that there was or maybe a recall that effects my vehicle and I don't know what else to do to get help on this problem.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2013

There is a very strong fuel smell that is seeping into the passenger compartment of the car. It seems to appear around 40 to 50 mph and is very strong in the last week. At 125,000 mi the abs sensors turns on and off constantly. When you first press the brakes it does not grab the rotors and continues to not stop until the abs light comes on and the brakes perform normal. This is very scary because the car almost went thru several intersections without stopping. The fuel indicator drops to almost empty when it falls below half a tank for about 6 months.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2012

While turning into the bank parking lot at 10mph the car just stalled. I was unable to brake or steer out the way. When gas gauge reads empty I am unable to fill the tank with gas as it begins to spill back out. Gas gauge reads 1/2 full when it is really empty? miles to empty sensor incorrect therefore I have no idea when I need gas. Driver side exterior headlamp seems dimmer than the other lamp. After repairing the entire front end(suspension) still sounds like the front end is going to fall apart when driving on ohio roads. Felt it was necessary to document as I do not feel safe in this car.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2012

Driving home on highway with three children in the car. Gas gauge suddenly drops from1/2 tank to empty and car stalls immediately on the highway. I am towed to a gas station where I try to put gas into the tank and am only able to put a gallon or two in at a time as if the tank were full. Past 6 months, the gas gauge is inconsistent, drops from 1/2 to empty and am unable to put more than a gallon or two in at a time. Mechanics as well as myself contact Chrysler who claim that they don't know what the problem could be. I look on-line and see that Pacifica's have been recalled for this exact problem. I ask that you look into how my Pacifica is different from the ones that have been recalled. It is the same year as others that have been recalled and is doing the exact same thing as those on the recall list.

12 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

The contact stated that there was fuel in the vehicle however, the fuel tank displayed a reading of empty and caused the vehicle to stall. The contact also stated that when she tried to fill the fuel tank, fuel would spew back out as if the tank was full. The contact also stated that the rack and pinion had to be replaced three times. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 150,000 and current mileage was 160,000.

13 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/19/2009

I have a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica touring edition awd with approximately 48,000 miles. This past week, my vehicle started stalling at stops. After my spouse took it to a car repair facility, they could not find any codes. She stated she had 1/2 tank of fuel showing. I had to rent a trailer to pick the vehicle up and drop it off at the dealer. When I started the vehicle the fuel gauge went from 1/2 to empty. I dropped it off at the dealer and they performed the repairs for the stalling problem. When I picked up the car, the service technician told me they had to put $10 dollars of fuel in it cause it was showing empty and that the tank low fuel light was on. According to the trip indication of fuel mileage, it said I had 18 miles until empty. I started the car and the fuel gauge went to 1/2 tank! okay problem here!! I had the technician put it back on diagnostic and showed no codes and fuel quantity was at 18 miles left according to the computer. I went straight to the gas station and attempted to fill the tank, it only took 6. 73 gallons and would not take any more. I called the dealer and they said it was the tank sending units (2ea) that would have to be replaced. Looking at other complaints, we all have a problem with this model and year.

14 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2008

First noticed gas gage suddenly dropped from 3/4 tank to empty, low fuel warning and check engine light came on. Fuel gage would again rise up to full then drop to empty. Called dealer who asked for my VIN number and told me my car was not subject to recall. Gas gage is no longer functioning at all & I have no idea how much gas I have in my tank - I'm unable at this point to afford the repair. New problem has arisen, yesterday and today my car has stalled, causing me to engage park and restart my engine. First time I was going up a small hill and this morning I was maneuvering around a round about. Seems very similar to other reports on this particular model and those who have registered a complaint.

15 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2005

2005 Chrysler Pacifica has stalled 4 times. Each time the vehicle had been brought to a complete stop at a stop sign, then the vehicle stalled. Vehicle was put in park and restarted. I noticed that each time the vehicle had approximately 1/4 tank of gas or less. The last two times it stalled I put $7 of gas in the vehicle and the gas gauge showed 1/2 tank. Obviously this is not likely as it takes approximately $50 to fill the tank. After approximately 45 miles the gas tank gauge went from 1/2 tank to 1/8 tank in the blind of an eye. Also, vehicle was only getting approximately 200 miles for a full tank. Vehicle is currently at the dealership, however, at this point the dealership is saying that they cannot "recreate" the situation and have a call in to Chrysler to see if they can advise further.

16 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2005

Poping noises at front end on driver and passenger sides, while turning at slow speeds going forward and backing up. Also filled up gas tank, "mileage/guage till empty" was 344, drove one mile and it went to 243. It is currently in the shop again, they are waiting on a part "shaft" to replace it. They usually don't have old parts available because it is still under warranty.
