Engine sub frame-aka engine cradle is rotting out. Vehicle was inspected on July 6, 2023 at jim rielh's Chrysler -Jeep dealership located at 32899 van dyke, warren michigan 48093. The report came back as " found front engine cradle / frame rotted / rusted out. " this vehicle has been well maintained and has been safety inspected by the same dealership in 2021 & 2022 and never advised there was a problem with the engine cradle. Now in 2021, three engine mounts were replaced to correct clunking noises when accelerating, but again there was never an advisement of a potential engine cradle rot. The vehicle had 127, 640 miles on it when it was inspected by the dealer. The results were reported to Chrysler customer care via email and by phone but no response as of today.
The engine cradle as well as the engine mounts along with the subframe have deteriorated uncommonly fast resulting in the vehicle involuntarily swerving into other lanes of traffic.
I am requesting that NHTSA issue a recall for the known defect and serious safety hazard for the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica. These vehicles need to be recalled effective immediately and removed from our highways. The engine cradle rot poses a a risk for accidents and the manufacturer is privy to these problems and had legal action taken against them for a similar notification of different years. The 2007 models should be recalled as well. Please issue the recall and do the right thing. Who knows, you may save someone’s life who is unaware of the dangerous equipment they are driving. Not to mention the manufacturer needs to either to buy back the vehicles, pay for the costly repairs and or compensate the owners who are unable to drive their vehicle or are forced to purchase another vehicle because Chrysler and those in authority have failed and refused to act with integrity and take action to make the recall. There are countless consumers who complain of the same problems of cradle rot, but nothing has been done. . Read more...
After fueling, especially if the take is full. The engine will die several times in the first 5 or more miles driven. Of course, this also means no power steering. You may be turning at an intersection, on a freeway or just traveling on a surface street. Still, you are without power and no power steering putting the car and occupants in danger. Usually, putting the car in neutral and starting gets you going again, at least until the next event. We have had as many a 5 such events on a 4. 5 mile drive home form the gas station. This has now progressed. The last fill up, the nozzle cut of several times and restart over and over to finally fill the take. We knew it could take more fuel, ultimately it took on 15 gallons. This time, even after the second day and about 20 miles on the car it will still die at random, especially at idle, say at a stop light. Also with this phenomenon, when the gas gouge gets to just below a half of a tank reading, it may suddenly drop to (e) empty. This is not a good feeling, even though we know it is a bogus reading. The gauge may or may not read correctly at about a half tank the next time the car is started, after an overnight rest. We suspect this may relate to the saddle bag fuel tank system. Currently the check engine light is on, solid, not flashing. However, this problem after a fill up has occurred when there was no check engine light active. Our mechanic is aware of the problems and we are scheduling a visit again and will make sure he is aware of all of these issues. Safety issue, yeah, like suddenly rear-ended or t boned with loss of power and almost impossible steering without power steering. Thankfully, the emergency flashers work fine.
Several times while driving and often when turning at a slow speed the Pacifica stalls. This is a common problem with no help from Chrysler. No codes come up and several mechanics and dealers have tried to fix the problem to no avail and at a lot of expense. In checking this problem out on the internet, many, many people have complained about this problem because it is highly dangerous and puts peoples lives at risk! why doesn't Chrysler investigate and find the reason and provide a fix or why won't the NHTSA look into this problem. It also is known to happen to 2005 and 2006 Pacificas.
Motor mounts are bad on the Chrysler there is 1,000 of reports online for this issue parts are on back order all over and it is a very known issue and a huge safety concern it occurs once vehicle is started shifts moves at all the engine will lift or jump up towards the hood of the car causing things to bend and twist while moving that should not.
My 2007 Chrysler Pacifica 4. 0 has always ran pretty great, rides smooth. This particular day it jerked and reved to 3000 rpms when I put my vehicle into reverse, I then switched my gear into drive and the truck jerked again then started smoking on the drivers side of the engine. By the time I could park the engine caught fire and spread quickly. I grabbed what things I could before the fire department got there. They had to pry my hood open because it melted the latch to open it and they continuously soaked the whole engine for about 5-7 minutes. Fire seemed to originate around the battery compartment area.
Vehicle randomly shuts off while driving without warning of any kind. It's happened 5 times in the last month, it is usually "chilly" out (40f or lower) but we just got the vehicle a month ago so hasn't been warm yet. 2 of the times were while driving on a city street and 3 just leaving our driveway.
While driving at low speed or accelerating from being previously idle, the oil pressure warning light and the traction control indicator will simultaneously light up. Upon doing so, the engine will lose all power and shut off. This requires the driver to put the car into neutral or park to start the vehicle again. This problem occurring while driving has the potential to cause an accident at no fault of the driver from this loss of control.
Engine will shut off but will restart.
I purchased my 2007 Chrysler pacifia at a dealer ship in February 2017. I have just had the vehicle for 5 months. The car had everything running and when I say everything running; I mean a/c was working just fine as well as the heater and all windows rolled up and down. I had everything updated on this vehicle. Now 5 months later, I have neighbors on 7/25/2017 at around 2pm that witnessed my car catching on fire. How? I don't know and I am confused and worried because I had just pulled up to my home with my fiance. Our car caught on fire on 7/25/17 I had to call the fire fighters to come out and put the fire out. This was the most scariest thing I have ever experienced. I am overwhelmed. The fire fighters put the fire out and now I am with no vehicle. I am a single mother of 3 that works a double shift just to make a way in life. I am very disappointed in this experience and fear for my life from here on out. I am scared to drive or get in any car because mind you my car had been driving perfectly fine. I am disgusted at the fact that there are cruel people out here with license dealerships that are able to sell vehicles with vehicles that can cost someones life. This is not acceptable and I am requesting an explanation to why this happened and I would like some kind of reimbursement for my vehicle. Me and my children don't have thousands of dollars to throw away I paid for this car cash. If you need proof of my car I can send pictures and report from fire fighters. I can send you proof of me owning the vehicle. I look forward to speaking with you soon you may reach me at delakendra@gmail. Com my name is kendra DE la rosa you may also call me via telephone at 316-550-3083. Thank you for your time. I hope you have a great day!.
The motor mounts continue to fail. Keep needing replaced.
Tl the contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica. While driving various speeds, the vehicle lost power without warning. The vehicle was restarted, but the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to landers mclarty Dodge Chrysler Jeep (256-864-7475, located at 6533 university dr NW, unit a, huntsville, al 35806) where the failure was duplicated; however, the technician stated that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA to file a complaint. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
07 pacificia will just die when driving at low speed. No warning lights comes on. You lose all control of the car. You can put the car park or netural is will start. You can drive for couple days and will do it again without notice. You take to shop and they can scan it do to no warning light. This happen when you turn or go straight at a slow speed. They have numerous complaints for this and no known answer it fix the problem. The car only has 107000 miles on it.
The oil cooler rusted out and liquid poured from it. Over heated terribly. Part is on national backorder and no one anywhere ha's this part. Driving, computer malfunction while driving 55mph threw my car into limp mode. Pulling out of gas station, driving maybe 4mph, abs, traction and throttle body light came on and brakes froze. Had to throw my car into park to avoid hitting pole. Refuses to turn over. Hate this car nothing but problems!.
It was raining out and I was decreasing speed pulling into a turning lane, the car lost steering and brakes until I was able to get it off the road and turn it off and restart it.
Shortly after starting and driving the car, within a couple of minutes, the car completely stops running with no warning lights. Just dies while driving as if the ignition was just turned off. This has happened multiple times causing a significant safety hazard as the power brakes and steering immediately stop working. The car is under an extended manufacturer¿s bumper-to-bumper warranty so the repair should be covered as it is a clear defect. Apparently, because the car just stopped, no codes were recorded as to the nature of the problem. Hence, the dealer was unable to identify a problem. The dealer recommended that the cost of a suspected repair be made by the owner because they could not definitely define the problem as necessary to be reimbursed under the warranty. Recommended repair was done at owner¿s cost yet the same thing happened again. An earlier model of this car had a recall to repair a similar if not identical problem.
Drive at about 60 mph whren my car just shout down . Had no sterting or breaks . Lucky this is not the first time it has happed and I knew tio put it in neutral and turn the key ,drop it in drave and a awy you go . The other times this has happened to many to count I was slowing down to corner very scary when you cant stop or turn your wheel . No warning lights or signs .

The contact stated that while having routine services done on the vehicle, the authorized mechanic observed that the engine cradle was severely corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000. Sg.
Engine rusts and cradles like if it's going to fall out the car. When driven engine shakes and moves back and forth making a pounding sound. Feels very unsafe.
Within minutes of pulling out of my driveway my 2007 Chrysler Pacifica touring simply shut down. Unfortunately, it was a shock to me when I lost acceleration and power steering in the middle of driving and it took me a few seconds to figure out what had happened. I pulled over with some difficulty and put the car into park. I was able to re-start the vehicle and returned home. Since that date, my husband has been driving the vehicle as it was our teenager's primary means of transportation prior to the incident. I shudder to think what could have happened to her as she is a new driver and my own reaction to the incident was inappropriate. I should have put the car into neutral and re-started it, but thank god I did live and learn. Since that incident my husband has experienced the same loss of power on three additional occasions. I am in constant fear that the car will shut down while pulling out into traffic. It has already happened once. Thankfully other drivers were aware and were able to slow down in time for my husband to re-cover. As I have read many other incident reports concerning my vehicle having the same issue, I am hopeful that Chrysler will address the problem before someone ends up injured or dead.
Car turns off while runing at speedway. Twice at 4 min. That is nothing new this happens every day most times at the first 5/10 min. Of drivingat streets. But today's was after 30 min . There is way I went to express way. I already spend money and to much time at mechanics they cant found whats wrong. But at interner I found this is a common issues whit this type of cars.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact discovered that the engine cradle had corrosion build up. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not notified of the failure. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. Ne.
I was slowing down to yield at a rotary and my car suddenly shut down causing the brakes and steering to not work almost causing a major accident. The same thing occurred several minutes later.
I was driving approximately 30 mph when my power steering stopped working and I noticed my engine had also stopped. I struggled to steer to the side of the road. I turned the key off (the engine was already off). I waited a minute and started the vehicle without a problem. I drove directly to my mechanic where he could not find a problem. This has happened 2 more times (for a total of 3 times). All when I was driving between 30 - 40 mph. The first indication of a problem is when I loose power steering and notice the engine has cut-out.
We were driving. I asked my husband to clean the windshield. As soon as he pulled the wiper stem, the headlights went out. The car restarted, but the headlights wouldn't come back on. We pulled over again and opened the hood. The car would restart, but now the dash cluster was out along with the headlights. We turned the engine off and weirdly, the headlights came on. They were flashing on and off, over and over. Within the next ten minutes the car would start but wouldn't shift out of park. From there the armrest controls stopped functioning, and eventually the car just chattered when the key was turned. Then it wouldn't even do that. It completely died. Four weeks and $1600 later, we have a new tipm l. The entire electrical system was fried.
The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica. While stopped at a red light, smoke started to emit from the front of the vehicle without warning. The contact merged to the side of the road and lifted the hood. Once the vehicle cooled off, it resumed normal operation. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.
About a week prior the veh was driving very sluggish and would not resume normal until reaching 50mph, then the next week while driving at about 35mph the veh began shaking very bad forcing me to drop speed to about 15mph. Took it to a mechanic and was told I needed a rear drive shaft and engine mounts and from what I hear this is a common problem with these vehs. Drive shaft is well over $1000. 00 not to mention labor, something needs to be done.
At 40,899 miles (I purchased this car new) I have now had to replace the three engine mounts twice (first time at 20,000 miles - under warrantee). I am a mature driver who drives this care gently.
I bought this car almost new (it was never titled - Chrysler has used it as a corporate car), with 15,000 miles on it. I have replaced the engine mounts four times (the first two times under warranty). On the latest instance, the mounts had been on the car for about 15 months and 28,000 miles. They failed and damaged the right front axle, which also had to be replaced, for a total cost of about $2,500.
While driving from cold start vehicle dies every morning at least one time loose power steering and breaks makes it hard to come to a stop or turn this I see is a problem with others someone needs to get this checked out. No check eng light or any warning I'm able to pop it into neutral and restart but am afraid to let wife drive due to her lack of experience. .

Dealer instructed me that the front and rear motor mounts were cracked on a car with less than 100k miles. This is not covered under Chrysler's powertrain or extended warranty. This is a common occurence with chryler's motor mounts.
