Engine Shut Off Without Warning problems of the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Multiple times while stationary when starting the car, the push button starter will fail to start the engine. Upon second attempt to start the car the starter has a prolonged series of cranks and finally starts. The concern is this has happened multiple times after just purchasing the car. This could be a safety issue if it happens while driving, and engine shuts off, or could strand us without the the ability to start the car.

While I am at a quick stop - stop sign, rotary, light, intersection - my vehicle will shut off without warning, causing me to have to put the car into park, restart, and put the car back into drive before I am able to continue in motion. This causes me to stall for 30 seconds - 1 minute with traffic piling up behind me.

Start/stop indicator comes on and van will some times just shut off while driving or while stationary. Dealerships have replaced the batteries main and ess battery 4 times in 3 years and problem continues to persist. Dates of occurrence, (stationary) March 9, 2018 (came off the lot with two dead batteries), (stationary) another time date unknown, (moving city streets & stationary) December 5-12, 2019, and (both moving highway & city street & stationary) September 7-15, 2020. (incident information below is of one of the many incidents. No crashes every, the times it stopped while driving on city streets, I was able to move over or get it started again before an incident occurred. All event where under 50 mph, and between 0 miles and 36550 miles on the vehicle.

My Chrysler Pacifica shut off twice while I was driving in a pkwy. Everything turn off, engine, display everything. It took around a min to turn back on. And five min after it made a big noise and it shut down again.

My car engine suddenly shut down on stop at red light in an intersection and then happen again during driving on the city street the engine shut off again and unable to restart. The dashboard showed message of �shift to parking to start� had to tow the car to dealer. Another experience with engine shut down was on the freeway of 210 but engine was able to restart after turn off the car for few minutes.

I returned home from driving a half an hour in my vehicle and when I pushed the start/stop button to turn the vehicle off it would not go completely off. The engine turned off but the sensors and radio would not turn off. Normally it shuts off when you open the door and it still would not work. So then I messed with things a bit and made sure all doors were shut. When doing so the back left door would not latch all of the way. It would go to shut and the open again before latching.

My engine shuts off when it is idle. The start/stop battery was replaced 5 months ago.

Purchased 2018 Chrysler Pacifica limited in March 2019. Within 2 weeks, two electrical recalls and failure of safety locks and autistic 3yo locked in car. Turned car on with ac to cool, took daughter out and put in carseat, closed door and driver door locked. Had spare in house. Serviced at dealership and told all fine. Three weeks later, sunroof would not close, and daughter locked in car again for over 30 minutes. Grandmother had to bring spare key to publix. Service once again said all was fine. Safety locks, we were told, would not lock if key was in car which it was. Serious safety issue for my daughter and there has been times engine shut down.

The vehicle has 9700 miles on the od. As it was slowing for a stop as it was still in motion the traction control light came on and the engine shut off forcing the vehicle to abruptly stop. The vehicle had to be placed into park and turned back on to continue.

Problem occurs at slow speeds or when stopped. The car completely shuts off. Then we have to quickly switch into park, restart, then switch into drive. This has happened at least 8 times while driving. It is extremely dangerous. Chrysler said to turn of front collision warning collision until they have a solution. Since that temp fix, the car fail 2 more times on 3/6/19. Once while making a left turn it died before the turn was completed, and once more coming out of a parking lot turning onto a main road. This is extremely dangerous and needs to be rectified immediately before someone has a crash. The car just shuts off. The car is only a few months old and it has happened several times.

Engine shuts off while driving, message displayed to turn off car and turn on again because of electrical failure. Brakes lock and car stalls until vehicle is set back to park and restarted.

The car has lost power on several occasions. When stopped at a stop light/stop sign car shuts off completely and loses power. I brought the car to the dealer last week, they completed an update- however just today the car lost power on a main road which happens to be right in front of the dealer. I pulled in completely shaken as I had my daughter in the car and cars were coming from behind not realizing I am stalled in the road. I have left the car at the dealer. It is so dangerous and scary as I bought this car as a family car and I can't feel comfortable driving it.

While approaching a traffic light the car came to a stop and completely shut down. I had to turn shifter of the car from drive to park and then restart the car. This is the 4th time this has happened. Scary time as the first time it happened I was making a legal k turn and the car shut off as I stopped the car before putting the car in reverse. I was t'd in the middle of the road. The first time occurred was 11/23/18 then again 12/18/018, again 12/21/18 and today 1/3/2018.

My 2018 Chrysler Pacifica keeps stalling while driving. I found a recall from 2017 that matches my car exactly! recall u01. Dealership as well as Chrysler, keep telling me that my vehicle year is not affected but my car keeps stalling at intersections! I have almost been hit two times with my child in the car. They have had my vehicle for more than 42 days in the service department and say they cannot recreate the problem in order to fix it. I even have video tape documenting what happens. If I stop at a light, or am driving very slow my vehicle shuts off! an indicator on my dash states to put the vehicle in park and re-start it! this is not safe when you have people behind you ready to go at a green light and you are stalled! I refuse to drive this vehicle on the road and jeopardize my families safety. Please investigate this issue. I am stuck paying a brand new lease payment for a vehicle that I am not able to drive!.

Car shut off with the "put car in park and restart" message. It took 2 attempts to restart. Car has only 795 miles on it. When the car shuts off there is no power steering creating a very dangerous situation. The car was stopped at a traffic light when this happened with the fuel saver option set to the off position.
