On driver side tire I hear a popping or grinding sound when I turn and sounds like my ball joint popping.

I have taken this vehicle in for repairs multiple times and it is schedule for repairs again this week. There have been multiple electrical issues including problems with the sliding doors, anti lock brake system had to be replaced, the battery system is grounding out, issues with the radio screen, and now the auto on off system is not working. In addition, I had to take the vehicle in for the ball joints bolts coming loose three time and they just used loctite to make them say on . They never realigned the vehicle and now I have to replace tires that are unsafe. Chrysler should own this and I am still convinced the ball joints could be damaged from this issue and they should replace them. However, the biggest issue is the transmission. It will be going in for the fifth time this week for the same issue that the dealer keep claiming is how I drive it. When taking off from a dead stop the transmission hesitates, which is a serious safety issue. Also, when driving and you let off the accelerator to brake it will hammer real hard. This a serious safety issue and Chrysler and the dealer refuse to own it. I filed my second complaint with Chrysler last week. This all needs to be resolved so I have a safe vehicle for my family. I feel they are stalling so my warranty will run out and I have no recourse.

I took my car into the local dealership and they told me my front subframe is rusted out and unsafe. They said there was a TSB 13-001-12 that may apply since this a common problem. However due to the milage it was not covered. This is a safety item that is present in these vehicles which has been documented by the news and all over the internet. This condiion can lead to crashes and possible death. I contacted Chrysler and they told me there isn't anything they can do. When I was notified about the issue at around 145k miles, there was only a small pin hole in the center of the cradel. At 168k miles there is a hole you can put your fist in. This is a major suspension component, not something subjected to normal wear like a tie rod. I would fully expect to pay for a tie rod, rack and pinion or ball joints. This is different, a major structural component. My vehicle is in good shape and I plan to keep it for the next 5 years. But with the cost of the subframe and the miles it is worthless. This is an issue that needs to be looked into. Hopefully it doesn't lead to too many deaths before something is done.

Started when backing and turning wheel to left a clunk occurred and left wheel felt 'stuck'. Thought it may have had something to do with the extremely frigid temperatures of the the season. A short time later I felt clunking under my feet when driving over dips or bumps at any speed. For some I thought it was again the idler arms or ball joints as I have had many many suspension repairs. Oddly it was never mentioned by anyone at this chain repair shop that the engine cradle was of any concern. I did bring my car in to a different chain repair shop for a determination of the clunking problem and was shown when putting the transmission into reverse the engine fell way down then was shown the very rusted out engine cradle and given an estimate of $1800. 00 for repair with a used cradle. I then took the car to an independent repair shop to verify the need of the cradle. . The charges to be slightly less. I called Chrysler and was told the car had to be taken to a Chrysler dealership repair shop for an estimate but that it was already known that there would be very little to no benefit. However if there was any monetary benefit it would not begin to cover any of the repair cost. By the way, the right rear quarter panel and lift door are rusted also. When I purchased the car 3 1/2 years ago the rust was beginning-I can now stick a finger thru the rust on the quarter panel. Have seen only one other Pacifica with surface rust. It's very embarrassing to me as not many cars on the road have any rust at all. Are my young passengers safe?? I am stuck with this money and possible death trap. I still have 1 1/2 years of payments. Bummer.
In June of 2010 my wives 2005 Chrysler Pacifica with about 63000 miles began to make funny noises from the front end it was taken to her uncle who is a mechanic. Upon inspection he noticed that the engine cradle had several large holes rusted through the cradle, one was so large that it was 6" x 3" he stated that this is not normal for a part to rust like this and should take it to the dealer where we bought it so the following day we took to roberts Chrysler and told that this is not a safety issue and they would replace the craddle for $3500 and when I asked about other Pacificas with the same issue is was told that this part is only covered in high salt areas of the us . I live in connecticut. So I contacted Chrysler and gave them the VIN number and was told that my car was not covered by any warranty. I had then searched online again found many many Pacificas with the same issue and several Pacificas that had there registrations pulled because the state inspections would not allow these Pacificas on the roads because the engines will fall out if this is not a safety issue then what is ? since then the car has had to have the entire front end replaced including ball joint both sides upper and lower all tie rods. In may 2013 my wife called me and told me that she had broken down on the highway doing about 65mph and was stuck in the travel lane and lost the steering and she could not turn the wheel the CT state police arrived and the could see the that she had to really fight to turn the wheel I any direction. We called aaa and was able to get the car off to the shoulder.
