Carrier/rack Problems of Chrysler Pt Cruiser

There was an electrical fire where the radio cup holders and the shifter. Car is undriveable due to the damage. My car was stationary at the time. The radio kept turn on and off. I heard cracking when I went into work. When I came out I say there was a whole lot of damage. I did get the car started and was able to get it home, but it's not drivable since the car died as I was pulling into my driveway. When I went to put it into park it was like park was not an option. Amd the car kept moving so I put the e break on.

Note: this is not a safety issue (as far as I know) but I want it to go on record from what all Pt Cruiser owners have been going through. Dashboard cracked and vent grids crumbled when doing a regular cleaning (dusting with cloth). I just want to be noted that I found out that the great majority of Pt Cruisers have this issue. I do not think it is fair to customers to have no protection from such poor quality materials. Manufacture should be made liable for such things.

Dec 2013 had to replace rim on front passenger side 2014sept rim cracked on passenger side rear. T. The rear passenger rim has been cracked twice. Total of three times rim cracked. Coming home and going to gym. First time I had rim repaired second time bought new rim. The third nothing but took off and put donut tire on. The first time I don't remember the date. I bought 4 new tires. 2014.

I brought the car on 3/25/14 from a Toyota dealer ship. Complain about a knocking noise coming from the engine at the time of test drive. Toyota promise me it would be fixed pick the car drove it a couple of days and notice the control panel lights started going on and off along with the car shuting down. Took it back to the dealer for service nothing was found. I let my daughter drive the car and while on the fwy at 65mph the lights on the control panel starting going on and off they car shut off on her. Lucky she was able to guide the car over to the emergency lane avoiding from getting hit. I was in the hospital for about 4 months so car really wasn't driven that much. But I have this car less than a year with a protection plan and need transmission and engine work the envolved getting solenoid pack, bracket-torque reaction,t-stat, oil swith, gasket, and camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensor as of 2/10/2015. Now 2 days later the check engine light comes back on take it back to the dealer and was told I need a cooling fan module. Which is not covered under my protect plan and would have to pay almost 700. 00 dollar. I have this car less than a year and have been having so many problems and have almost gotten killed behind it cutting on and off on the highway. I have research this car and everyone has had the same complaint.

I was making a right hand turn from a main road onto a side street. While the car was turning, I heard a clunk and the steering wheel was jerked from my hands. The car pulled hard to the right and crashed into the curb. The car was towed to the repair shop and the service tech showed me the engine cradle was completely rusted out and the k frame was cracked all the way thru. It's to rusted to be welded and I was told this is a common problem with the cruiser and Dodge neon, since they use the same frame. The tech also told me I was lucky that I wasn't moving at high speed or the results could have been fatal. He also told me that chysler is aware of this problem, they are completely out of replacement parts, and they basically ignore any complaints.

I was not initially going to file a complaint until I seen others with the same problem. The dash cracked into many pieces. I originally thought that my wife had done something to crack the dash, and she thought that I had. The part remained basically intact until the service department at the local Chrysler dealer had to remove the dash for other repairs. At that time we had to pay for another dash because it fell completely apart and could not be re-assembled. I am not sure if this is exactly a highway traffic safety concern, but only because there was not an accident, nor an incident.

Dashboard started cracking and continued to crack from windshield area all the way down to bottom,then another crack started and did the same. These dashboards arent made properly and both cracks are on the passenger side. Im afraid the airbag will deploy someday. My wife has a Chrysler 300m 1999 and she has the same problem with her dashboard.
