I own a 2002 Pt Cruiser. It recently almost caused a severe accident due to the sub-frame that holds the front suspension together. The garage that it is being worked on said that it was completely rusted out and he has never seen such a thing. Also, when it broke, it also broke the tie rod, the steering rack and the a-arm. I was only going about 40 mph at the time when it happened, had I been going any faster I would have been in a severe accident. I googled this problem and found other complaints from owners with the same problem. I feel that this should be looked into.

04' Pt Cruiser - bought new and I am now having the front bearing and hubs replaced for the 4th time. Less than 38,000 miles on the car. Bought new tires yesterday to then be told that the bearing s are bad. Rather ticked off as this is causing me to take time from work and to arrange a ride to pick up the car once repaired.

While driving felt like car was going over Mini-speed bumps. Took it to tire store and found out it wasn't the tires and they recommended the dealership. At the dealership they informed me it was the left-front bearing and I shouldn't be driving on it at all because the wheel could fall off. Had it repaired there. Picked up vehicle a week later and steering still didn't feel right. Took it back and they determined that the right front knuckle needed repaired. Also had it done there because I was visiting from out of town and needed work completed to get back home. Less than 9 mths later and car sounds like an airplane. Living on different coast so went to a recommended mechanic. Informed left front bearing needs repaired.
My 2004 Pt Cruiser not steering correctly and front end noises not normal. Dealer on second test replaced both front hubs and bearings because of worn out bearing seats mileage 15,468.
Vehicle front end and steering wheel vibrate at about 10-15 mph acceleration from a stopped or slowed position. Once accelerated beyond that speed, vibrations remain, but less intense. Vehicle will pull upon applying brakes, making it harder to control. Feels as if the vehicle front end and tires are "grinding into the pavement", this at street speeds of 35-40 mph. Had tire pressure checked on all four tires and pressure was as suggested by manufacturer. Had brakes checked at dealer and they stated they could find no problem with the brakes, "the brakes are fine. " this vehicle has less than 15,000 miles. If Chrysler/fiat dealers cannot pinpoint the causes of these defects/problems and fix them (at no cost their customer) once and for all, then who? these problems pose serious safety concerns, and recalls should be issued. With these problems unresolved, there is little enjoyment in driving this vehicle.
Consumer states the vehicle is pullin to the right while driving at the 65mph. Dealer has been notified. Please provide further information. Ts.

Vibration problems encountered nationwide. . Read more...
I have a intermittent cyclic vibration at speeds from 65mph and above. The first time I took the car back to the dealer, they replaced 3 of the tires because they were not round. This helped the problem, but didn't cure it. I have taken it back twice more and although the service manager ,after taking a test drive with me, agrees that the vibration is still there, they say they have checked everything and can't find a problem. He says he tested another Pt Cruiser and it has the same feel. I have talked this over with the owners son and I am now told that I must just live with it. I feel that this is a potential safety problem. (tiresize: p205/55r16)( dot number: tire size: p205/55r16 ).
