Nine problems related to automatic transmission have been reported for the 1999 Chrysler Sebring. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Upset with the fact that I have two Chrysler products: 1990 Plymouth voyager and 1999 chrsyler Sebring both of which failed prematurely. The voyager had two transmission replacments and the Sebring had one transmission replaced. Both failed before 70,000 miles. I see that there's bulletins addressing the issues, but when the dealer was contacted I was told sorry and it's to late to make any claims. We are all aware there are secret warranty watches as well as reasonable durability. I have written and called but seem to get nowhere.
Failure of transmission (41te) on my 1999 Chrysler jxi convertible. Expensive repair at $2,250 plus towing bill and no car to drive to work. This continues to be a problem for Chrysler, the 41te transmission and it's customers.

Only 38,000 miles on this car & already having to rebuild transmission.

The intake sensor failed and they replaced it once I drove it the rest of the way to them. It took @ 10 min to replace. They reported to me that I was the second one in a weeks period of time with the same problem. Then a week later I had my car in for service and asked them to check the transmission and it needs rebuilt. The problem witht he brakes has been on going. Replace front pads 3 times since may of 2000.
Vehicle's interlock cable broke causing roll back to occur. The vehicle was placed in park, on a slight slope.
While parked, shift lever jumped from park to reverse and caused vehicle to roll backwards, which resulted in an accident/injury.
