36 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2015

While driving on a highway at high-speed, all the electrical instruments began flashing on/off. The airbag light began flashing and a chime could be heard. This occurs intermittently (3-5 times per year) and Chrysler cannot properly diagnose the problem. With this latest incident, the dealership told me it would cost $800 for a new power control module. I researched online only to learn there are thousands of people with identical complaints about their Chrysler vehicles, while NHTSA refuses to order a recall. I refuse to allow Chrysler to perform work on this vehicle unless they can guarantee the repair and cap the cost. I purchased this vehicle new and Chrysler failed to disclose two auto body repairs performed prior to sale - I discovered this on the Chrysler website and since spent over $1,500 to repair it because Chrysler refused to accept any responsibility after the lemon laws expired.

37 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

My father owns a 2008 Chrysler Sebring limited. Around the year 2014 and 70,000 miles, the car started to act like it was possessed. Radio, hazard lights, interior lights would turn on all by themselves. My father took it to the dealer. They told him that the radio stayed awake while the car was turned off and that this was causing a draw on the battery. They told him he could replace the radio for $900 or just pull the fuse. This would cure the problem. However, the battery was trash and it cost him over $300 to replace. The knew battery didn't last a year. They replaced the battery b/c it was still under warranty. However, now they said, that after the test performed a draw test, there was an intermittent draw of 1 amp or more at times. They couldn't isolate the circuit and that it seemed to be something internal to tipm causing issue. They said they could replace for $765 but would have to recheck, and couldn't guarantee that would fix the problem. They recommend that he should just drive the car to keep the battery charged. I would like to learn more about this class action vs. Chrysler. You can contact me at this email or call me at 978-609-3005 thank you, michael malignaggi 978-609-3005.

42 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

Just like everyone else's complaint on the 2008 Sebring. The electronic throttle control light comes on. The cars rpms rev high but the car won't even be going fast. The car will speed up on its own and jump while sitting at a red light. Then once the light comes on and you cut the car off if you try to crank it back up it went cut on. This is ridiculous. I've almost wrecked quite a few times. Nobody knows whats wrong amd when you take it to the dealership they don't know either and they are all rude. And they charge you 100$ to diagnose it. If you don't know anything about vehicles you should def not work for Chrysler and should not charge people for the diagnostic.

43 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2014

Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated while the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle was accelerated independently without warning. The contact turned the vehicle's ignition off and once he restarted the ignition he was able to drive normally. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle's windshield wipers would also power on independently and the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. Mf.

44 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2014

My car cut off while driving, the windows wont go up or down my car will not un lock through the swich in the car or some times the key.

45 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2014

My 2008 Sebring had the electronic throttle control light come on. When this happened the vehicle immediately reduced itself to 2000 rpms. I could not accelerate beyond that threshold. If the vehicle came to a stop it would stall out completely. I have read several similar reports of this issue including it causing involuntary acceleration.

46 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/03/2014

Vehicle came to a complete stall while taking left- hand turn on intersection @ ~15mph. It now shows the indicator light for the engine randomly and stalls somewhat frequently at low speeds. Lastly, the trans is slipping rigorously.

47 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/06/2013

The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that the engine failed to immediately start. The battery had been drained and the cruise control function also failed. The vehicle was not inspected by an independent mechanic or dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 08v152000 (electrical system). The approximate failure mileage was 64000.

48 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2013

Since purchasing this vehicle last October, the instrument cluster lights has stopped working on a few occasions. At some point they would work again momentarily but only to stop again. Only a portion of the cluster would remain lit. The instrument cluster lights are currently not working on our vehicle.

49 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2013

So far my 2008 Sebring has turned off while driving twice. I was slowing down from 30mph for a stop light and it turned off and was luckily able to utilize the brakes if not I would have rear ended the vehicle in front of me, but as for the steering, it was unresponsive. However, I turned my car back on as if nothing happen until the second time it stalled while turning into my street. Same issue occurred (no steering, but brakes were ok. )car stalls once again good thing my car turns back on immediately. Its was dangerous only for the fact that oncoming traffic would be unable to see me stalled there because road forms a hill over the canal, since soon after I went passed over the canal my street entrance is more or less 20ft from the canal, it could be a blind spot.

50 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/21/2013

The electronic throttle light is continuously coming on even after repairs. The car will ride find and then all of a sudden cut off with no waring other than the light appearing. Also it stalls and you can be in the middle of traffic which is definitely safety hazardous. Ive notice that this problem has occurred to thousand and to my surprise no recall.

51 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2013

I was driving in stop and go traffic and started speeding up due to less traffic. I was going 60 mph when my car stopped accelerating and started making this weird revving noise (the kind when you are parked or in neutral), my warning light came on for the electrical panel. I then pulled over because it was not going any faster than 35 mph. Just letting it sit it was making those same noises. I turned the car off and restarted it. The light when away and it was able to drive again. It had a little issue getting back up to speed but overall it went back to normal.

52 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2013

The car sometimes stalls. On several occassions, mostly during or after it rains, it will just cut off. It cuts off at stop lights and while I'm driving. There are no indications on the dashboard before it cuts off. It always starts back up after each incident.

53 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2013

On Monday 1/28/2013 after a heavy morning of snowing and raining, I began to run errands. All of sudden my car 2008 Chrysler Sebring stalled as I was driving. I started the car immediately back up with no problems however shortly afterwards pulling up to a traffic light the car stalled again. Everything in the car goes off as if someone has turned the ignition key to off position. This is very dangerous as there are no warning to the possibility the car is about to stall. Tuesday 1/29/13 I took my car to a local repair chain as it continued to stall and they reported not finding anything electrical wrong with the car nor mechanical. However, they suggested that when cars stall sometimes it may be the spark plugs may need to be replaced. So based on their suggestion I had the spark plugs replaced/tune up. Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem as I drove home car stalled. On Wednesday 1/20/13, I took the car to another trusted mechanic and they reported the problem being electrical and manufactured due to how the car totally shuts down and not registering with the dash board a problem. On 1/31/13 I had the car towed to the Chrysler dealership only for them to confirm, so far, what the other two mechanics already told me, its an electrical problem that is not showing up on dash. For three days the car stalled aprx. 11 times at traffic lights and/or in motion. I have read there was a recall on 2007-2008 Chrysler Sebring's however when I called Chrysler I was told that did not include my car due to it being manufactured a month later than the recall cars. However, the recall notice describes exactly what is happening to my car. I have also communicated with 2 other people to whom have complained about the same stalling issues with the same year and model car. I just hope it does not take someone losing their life before changes are made to solve this problem.

54 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2012

While idling at a stop light in ocean city, new jersey, engine surged then stalled. The car was then driven two blocks to a corner sunoco station and while idling at the gas station, the car again surged and died. Car was taken to atlantic Chrysler, but service could not duplicate the problem and the computer did not reflect it. Jan. 13, 2013, while driving in atlantic city, NJ, car engine revved and stalled while stopped at a stop light. The car surged forward slightly before breaks halted forward progress of car, nearly hitting the car in front of me. This happened twice before getting the car home. During the same trip the dash board light activated indicating the convertible top was in operation. The light did not deactivate until the convertible top had actually been activated, taken down and replaced. I have read a number of similar reports to this one. This is a dangerous situation and has to have a fix by now.

55 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2012

The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled. The vehicle also erroneously accelerated while the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis however, the technician was unable to diagnose the failure but rebooted the electrical system as a precaution. The failure recurred intermittently. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 08v152000 (electrical system) and was advised by the manufacturer was that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

56 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2012

While driving the check engine light came on and the engine stalled. When tested the engine code came back as electrical short. The dealership where I purchased the car did not fix the problem but cleared the engine code. A few weeks later the check engine light came back on. While traveling at 50 mph, and coming to a stop, the engine stopped running and the brakes failed to stop the car. After going thru a red light another car broadsided my car.

57 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

While driving on a highway at high-speed, all the electrical instruments began flashing on/off. The airbag light began flashing and a chime could be heard. This occurs intermittently (3-5 times per year) and Chrysler cannot properly diagnose the problem. This seems to happen most frequently while driving on the interstate while raining with the windshield wipers on high. On one occasion while travelling through the mountains of western pennsylvania on the turnpike at night in the rain the entire car went dark for about 10 seconds. It appeared that the system rebooted. Original owner.

58 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2012

When I am driving and it is raining or has rained or if the car is wet there is an issue with the car skipping/ stalling out when you accelerate. This only occurs when the car is wet. It has cut completely off at an intersections before. This usually happens with speeds less than 40 mph or you can hear and feel it pulling/ when driving at higher speeds. I thought it was the spark plugs going bad and had them replaced that they did not fix the problem. This is dangerous because you are not able to determine when it will stall out/skip. I have taken it to the dealership on numerous occasions and they could not determine what the problem could be. Or state no problem found. This has gone one for two years.

59 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2011

After I received work done on the electrical-recall, my car keeps on stalling. This can be very scary and has almost caused several accidents. My car should not be shutting off while driving. I did not have this problem until after the recall was fixed on my car. This needs to be fixed before someone gets hurt.

60 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2011

My instrumental cluster lights went out so I can not see anything at night. My speed control/cruise control is no longer functioning.

61 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2011

The car will stall. . With little to no notice. It makes you loose control of the whole car. The electronic throttle control light which will come on sometime and never go off unless you stop the car and restart.

62 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2011

Bought certified used 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible 7/11 with 18,000 miles. Fall, 2011 radio stuck on one am channel regardless of selecting am, fm, or sirius. Dealer offered to sell me new radio. After radio not used for a week, started to function okay again. July, 2012 headlight on message and alarm upon opening door, daytime, no key in ignition, no headlights on, interior dash display lights on but dim like for nighttime. 12/12 interior lights would not shutoff automatically when I exited car, switch not in on position. Ongoing: auto brightness display on radio does not work. Top down on key fob does not work. Winter, 2013 stalled twice at red lights, also had clunking noise when turning. Dealer said steering rack was worn and leaking and had to be replaced (35,000 miles) and was not under warranty. Dealer also cleaned throttle plate and fuel injectors for stalling problem. Even after this service car continued to stall, sometimes catching itself and speeding up which causes car to surge forward. As of today, 8/17/13 car has 40,050 miles on it and I wonder what's next.

63 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2011

A throttle control warning light appears on the dash off and on at intermittent times the car loses power and dies without warning. It has died on the highway several times so far, but will restart after a few minutes. It seems to happen when the fuel is less than half way full more than any other time and/or when traveling uphill. Rpm dial on the car jumps erratically just before the throttle warning light appears. Problem has not occurred while traveling at less than 45 mph. Afraid that the problem will cause an accident, if it happens when another vehicle is traveling behind me.

64 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2011

The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle shook violently without warning. In addition, while driving at low speeds, the vehicle jerked forward and stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. While driving at various speeds, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the rear of the vehicle when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear brakes and rotors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred monthly. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

65 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2011

I was traveling back to los angeles,CA from sedona, az. It had been raining off/on all day. Sometimes lightly and often times very heavy with wake water coming off of other cars and trucks on a very busy CA highway. My windshield wipers completely stopped working during heavy downpour twice. Had to crawl off the freeway while unable to see because of no wipers. Had to wait at least 15 minutes before they would work again after the first failure. Was able to travel using the delayed intermittent sequence until rain got too heavy. When switched to faster wiping after ten minutes wipers stopped again. Luckily again I was able to crawl to the side of the road, and I waited for the rain to stop. I have not had this happen before and I have driven long and short distances in the rain. Another issue is I have had on three different occasions over the last year and 1/2, the car shut off/stall while waiting at red lights, and once while the car was moving it started to stall. At no time did the engine malfunction light,or electrical light come on or stay on. I was told by Chrysler technicians/mechanics that unless the light stays on they can't diagnose the problem. Otherwise the failure had to be duplicated, I. E, have to occur in the presence of the technicians. Well you know how that goes. I understand that my car was not part the 08v152000 recall, but this situation is dangerous. Please help.

66 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2010

The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible. The contact stated that she accidentally pressed the button to pull back the convertible roof and the roof began to open. The failure was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The failure and current mileages were 51,000.

67 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2010

Chrysler Sebring 2008 however, I am having problem with the electronic throttle control light which will come on sometime and never go off unless you stop the car and restart. When electronic throttle control light is on you cannot break to stop the car, or speed up. It make you loose control of the whole car increasing the potentiality of accident if you was driving at any speed above 25 mph. I went to Chrysler dealerships, but they do not know what is going on with the car or could cause that failure, `and have no idea how to fix it. I do not know if this problem is related to the power train. The problem happened to me already more than 30 times,.
