1 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2017

Backing out of my driveway the engines suddenly shut down but restarted without an issue. Later that day the red warning light came on and the engine started to have no power and then staled I was able to move to the side of the road and saw the throttle position sensor light was on (witch I looked up in owner manual. Was able to get it started again and drove it to my mechanic who tested it and said I needed a throttle body. T hat was replaced now 4 days later I was on a hov lane doing 65 light came on engine sputtered but didn't stall arrived at destination when I got back in car light was out and car started. Driving home I had to pull over several times when light was illuminated . My concern is driving at highway speeds especially where I live there are long tunnels I travel through hopefully it doesn't do this to anyone driving through them and anywhere that would definitely cause a serious accident , the initial repair to replace throttle body was $271 and an additional $88 for same issue now throttle pedal needs replaced cost at this time unknown.

2 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2015

I was driving one morning and it was raining. The electronic throttle control light came on and the car wouldn't accelerate over 20 mph. I cut the car off and started it back up and it didn't do it anymore. Until the other day when exiting off the interstate the car lost speed and the same light came on. The restarting trick didn't work. The car runs shaky and is idled up high when started. The car still won't accelerate over 20mph. Had it diagnosed and discovered the throttle body needs to be replaced as well as the intake manifold runner valve to fix this problem. I see a lot of people that own this car 2007/2008 have this problem. Which can potentially be dangerous especially while on the interstate!.

3 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2015

As I was driving 70 mph on the highway, the throttle control warning light came and the car begin to loss power and hesitate. I pulled off the road and it began to stall and jump. The car was losing power and I could not go past 45 mph. Another problem I am having is the instrument panel light went off and I cannot see the gas gauge, speedometer, etc. The vehicle is currently sitting in the parking lot until I can get it towed to be checked and/or fixed. It currently runs, but I am afraid to drive it.

7 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

Just like everyone else's complaint on the 2008 Sebring. The electronic throttle control light comes on. The cars rpms rev high but the car won't even be going fast. The car will speed up on its own and jump while sitting at a red light. Then once the light comes on and you cut the car off if you try to crank it back up it went cut on. This is ridiculous. I've almost wrecked quite a few times. Nobody knows whats wrong amd when you take it to the dealership they don't know either and they are all rude. And they charge you 100$ to diagnose it. If you don't know anything about vehicles you should def not work for Chrysler and should not charge people for the diagnostic.

8 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2014

My 2008 Sebring had the electronic throttle control light come on. When this happened the vehicle immediately reduced itself to 2000 rpms. I could not accelerate beyond that threshold. If the vehicle came to a stop it would stall out completely. I have read several similar reports of this issue including it causing involuntary acceleration.

11 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2012

My wife was driving our 2008 Chrysler Sebring at roughly around 45mph when the (etc) electronic throttle control light came. She lost control of the vehicle momentarily, had to use the emergency brake to slow the car down. She shut the care off, went to start it back up again and it wouldn't do anything, keep in mind she had our 2 children in the vehicle also. After a couple of tries to start the vehicle, it finally started again, no more light! she had told me what the car was doing, so I drove it for a day, and nothing happened at all. Later that night she went to the store, and it did it again!! this time it stayed on and started blinking. I drove the car, and it wont go over 20mph, and idles really rough, also idles high, between 1500-2100rpm. I am writing this because after doing some research on this it seems as though there is more than a couple thousand vehicles that have done the same thing. (the 07' to 08' Chrysler Sebring) it put my family in danger, this is why I am posting this complaint. Please look into this.

12 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2011

A throttle control warning light appears on the dash off and on at intermittent times the car loses power and dies without warning. It has died on the highway several times so far, but will restart after a few minutes. It seems to happen when the fuel is less than half way full more than any other time and/or when traveling uphill. Rpm dial on the car jumps erratically just before the throttle warning light appears. Problem has not occurred while traveling at less than 45 mph. Afraid that the problem will cause an accident, if it happens when another vehicle is traveling behind me.

13 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2010

The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate abnormally. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal but the vehicle would hesitate to accelerate. The throttle control warning light was also illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technicians stated to the contact that the electronic throttle control would have to be replaced. The dealer could not guarantee that the repair would resolve the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

14 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2010

I have an 08 Chrysler Sebring. My electronic throttle control light comes on randomly, and within 5 seconds, my car stalls. I've taken it to two dealerships, they can't figure out what is causing this defect. This is not safe! once when it stalled, I couldn't pull over because there was no shoulder. I pulled over in the little triangle area between merging traffic. On a trip from IL to va, I had to restart my car 7 times. One dealership replaced the map sensor, this didn't help at all. The other dealership told me there was nothing they could do, since there were no stored codes and they couldn't duplicate the problem.
