I have a 2008 Chrysler Sebring sedan. The radiator is leaking fluid that splashes all over the wires causing a burning smell. I later found out that this is caused by an electrical issue with the sensors. Similarly my tire pressure sensors are fried. These issues have eroded wires causing my a/c and cruise control systems to malfunction. My power windows have issues sometimes I can't get them to roll up or down. My internal lights in my car flickering on and off. The mess from the radiator is also causing my engine to overheat. I am now having issues with oil pan leaks as a result of too much pressure from the engine. I see that only certain vins were added to the recall list. I strongly suggest that NHTSA add other vins to the recall list, especially mine, since I'm having those exact same issues. I see that there are complaints about this year make and model as recent as last year. Why hasn't the recall list been updated? please update the recall list. Please and thank you!!.
In February 2021 my car wouldn’t stop, tried to give it a jump and it still wouldn’t start. Replaced the battery and it started working again. In April 2021 my engine light came on. I got a diagnostic and the error code read: p2016 intake manifold runner position sensor/switch circuit low bank 1. I didn’t get it fixed. Shortly after, I began hearing a faint crackling noise and noticed when I would drive on turn pikes my a red brake symbol would briefly pop up on my dash board and then go away. In may 2021 my horn stopped working and front right turn signal light stopped working. I tried to get a new one installed it wouldn’t work. I was told it could be an electrical issue. In July 2021 my right low beam head light stopped working. I tried to get a new bulb installed and it still wouldn’t work. At this time I was told the same thing, that it seems like there may be an electrical issue. This month, November 2021, a few days ago on Monday November 1st, I began noticing an acceleration issue in the morning. I would press the accelerator and it wouldn’t pick up until a few seconds later, it was like a delay. Later that day while I was driving on the free way a red flash symbol with lines between it began flashing on my car and my car wouldn’t drive over 20 mph. I pulled over. Shortly after I turned my car back on and it began driving semi normal and I was able to get home. I tried out my car the next day and in the morning the same thing happened again. The red flash symbol with 2 lines on the side of it began flashing on my dashboard and my car wouldn’t go over 20 mph. I’m not sure what the issue is but when I looked up what the red flashing symbol, I noticed a few others who had a similar experience with their 2008 Chrysler Sebring which made me want to look up whether there was a recall and I found out there was but when I searched whether my car was eligible through my VIN number it said there was none unrepaired.
At any given moment loss of power will occur and motor will shut off. Anytime on the freeway or parked. Occasionally at random intervals car will crank but not turn over until after repeated attempts to start it will turn over appropriately.
My tps light has been on for quite some time and after a short time since the first time it appeared my issue worsens everyday. My car stalls, not only when I am stopped at a light, but even when I am driving at high speeds and the check engine light stays on all the time and blinks and dings at times and now the airbag light is on as well and blinks and dings all the time while the car is started. I took the car to get check for error codes, but none come up when the diagnostics is ran.
My husband and I are experiencing problems recently with the car stahling out and or getting stuck in low gear while driving on the hwy, it was terrifying! we are currently not at home and have a 10 hour drive back home while driving this extremely unstable car and am honestly scared to death we are going to get in an accident! this is the 3rd battery swap we've done in 3 months but only have last 2 receipts. We have done research and this car has had electrical recall for this problem however apparently our VIN dont match up to the recall. I dont understand it, this is extremely horrible business from Chrysler and as soon as we can get home hopefully safely. . We wont buy another. Please help fast!.
Tl the contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning and the tpms warning indicator remained illuminated. An independent mechanic replaced the battery, starter, and alternator; however, the failure continued. In addition, while driving over 60 mph, the vehicle would decelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. Steve white motors (3470 us hwy 70 se, newton, nc 28658, (888) 827-3721) was notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer indicated that the vehicle was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 08v152000 (electrical system); although, the vehicle exhibited the same failure. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000.
The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated while at stopped, the vehicle accelerated independently causing the vehicle to crash into a ditch while attempting to avoid another vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.
This has happened on several different occasions--becoming more frequent and lasting longer duration each time. While traveling various speeds (can and has happened anywhere from 5mph-60mph) if any pressure is applied to accelerator after breaking no matter the speed all power is lost to the car a red lighting bolt light appears on the dash and the rpm's will stay between 4,000-5,000. Each time having to pull off to the side of the road and attempt for it to restart (depends on if it will or not--usually takes it a while). Will get up to speed again and if I have to break for any reason or even slow down just a little without apply the breaks it can completely loose power. Also do not have any dash lights when the head lights are turned on. They appear in the center console but went out in 2009 just after I bought the car, and after several estimates in the thousands of dollars it remains with no lights (so in no way can you see the speed or anything else on the dash after dark. ).
The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that while driving 4 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently and crashed into a safety rail. The driver sustained injuries to her arm and neck while the passenger suffered injuries to her chest. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 103,000.
I lost power to my speed, my brakes failed. I was able to stop the car with my emergency brake. Once stopped I turned off my vehicle. Once I restarted the vehicle, the light did not come on however I still did not have the speed. My transmission would not shift from 3rd to overdrive. It would stay at 3000 rpm at 55 mph. My car normally runs @ 2500rpm or less up to 60mph. I do not know what I need to deo to have this issue resolved. This is my second time experiencing this with this vehicle. I also have a 2009 Chrysler pt cruiser and owned a 2006 Chrysler Sebring and never have experienced this.
The motor surges when in park & while idling at a stop sign. It has happened many times, and I have almost slammed into a pedestrian because it catches me by surprise. I removed the floor mat to ensure that is not the problem (it has happened 3 times since), and the last time it happened (last week) the car was in park, and the engine roared as if I was flooring the accelerator, on it's own.
Without warning at time my car will stall at a stop ie sign or traffic signal other time it will be stopped at a light & without warning the rpm will spike to over 2k rpm & neary caused an accident several time. There is no know reason for this in relation to temp, humidity etc or how long its been driven. Can it be that the flex fuel system is getting confused by the alcohol in the fuel?? also experience at time when filling gas tank it spits back & causes an overflow of fuel on side of car & ground??no matter how slow or fast its put in. All this has started in the last 5k miles please find a fix before it becomes a accident. Thanks.
The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Sebring conv. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the electronic throttle control warning lamp illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the electronic throttle converter was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 75,000.
My car has accelerated 3 different times when im at a complete stop on christmas day it accelerated and almost hit the car infront of me it doesn't do it everysingle time I drive but has happened more then once it has also shut off at complete stops several times the Chrysler dealership gives me the run around and say nothing is wrong.
I was driving my car along the freeway and all of a sudden the car began to accelerate. I was unable to stop. I ended up in a ditch and crashing into some trees and I lost three of my fingers. I was driving a 2008 Chrysler Sebring. I need any information concerning any recalls or defects regarding this vehicle. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Sebring. A month after purchasing the vehicle, the contact noticed that the vehicle would vibrate when shifting gears at 20-40 mph. When the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle would accelerate on its own. The vehicle was driven to the dealer on several occasions, but the mechanic could not duplicate the failure. The mechanic performed diagnostic testing as well and was informed that there was no defect. Recently, while idling at a stop sign, the vehicle inadvertently accelerated and almost caused a rear end crash. The dealer was notified and they stated that they were not liable for the repairs because they could not duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified and they informed her that they would replace the vehicle, but only if she paid twenty-five cents per mile. The current mileage was 14,500 and failure mileage was 2,800. Updated 2/17/09 updated 02/19/09.
The contact owns a 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible. While stopped at a red light, the the contact depressed the accelerator pedal but the vehicle would not accelerate. The failure recured twice. In addition, when the brakes were applied the vehicle would hesitate to stop. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostics. The technicians were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 6,000.
