1 Fuses And Circuit Breaker problem of the 1997 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 08/17/2005

1) the vehicle was parked outside securely (doors and windows closed properly, top closed properly, ignition locked and no keys in the car). 2) after a rain, I happened to walk by the car and heard it making loud strange noises that sounded like speaker amplified electrical arcing. The noise seemed to be coming from everywhere in the vehicle (no apparent point source). Suspecting some type of electrical problem I began pulling fuses with no effect on stopping the noise. I began smelling something burning and disconnected the car battery. The noises stopped immediately and the burning smell dissapated. 3) the dealer advises that there is a drain in the right rear quarter panel of the car that is not working and causes water to enter the passenger compartment. There is an amplfier under the front passenger seat for the infinity sound system that water had entered into. Dealer advises that the failed part must be returned to the manufacturer to get a replacement and that further damage cannot be determined until the replacement part is installed. There are two design defects in this car, one of which is a serious safety concern. The first defect is the rear quarter panel drains that can stop working and flood the car resulting in significant damage. The owner is not made aware of this defect or how to prevent the problem. The second design defect is a safety concern. An amplifier under the passenger seat has no fuse protection whatsoever. If I had not happened by the car when I did, and had not disconnected the car battery, the car was beginning to catch fire (I smelled burning!). This amplifier can malfunction electrically and start an electrical fire in the vehicle without any electrical interupt protection available. Had I not disconnected the battery when I did this car could have caught fire as a result of this lack of any short circuit protection.

2 Fuses And Circuit Breaker problem of the 2001 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 09/29/2004

Sporadically the fuse that controls the starter and fuel pump blew upon starting the vehicle. When the fuse is replaced everything is fine. On 1 occasion when this occurred 12 fuses where replaced, and they all blew out when the vehicle was restarted. The starter was diagnosed as the problem and replaced. The following day the problem recurred. Dealership kept the vehicle for a week, and indicated that they were not able to get the problem to constantly recur in order to further diagnose the problem.

4 Fuses And Circuit Breaker problem of the 2003 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 05/28/2004

I bought a 2003 Sebring exactly two months ago, and prior to signing the papers to seal the deal, I had the dealership check out the reason there was no stereo, interior lights, trunk lights and why the keyless entry did not work when I test drove the car. They came back to explain that the "fuse had blown" they "fixed it" and asked me to drive the car home that night, and to bring it back the next day for further evaluation. The next day, I dropped the car off at 4pm, and the car stayed overnight- the next day I drove the car home (with less than a half of tank of gas, and it was full when I took it there) parked it in my driveway, and two hours later went to go pick up my sister from school, and the keyless entry again did not work, I utilized my key, and when I stuck it in the ignition- the alarm sounded, and the radio did not work, no interiopr lights, no trunk lights, the locks did not work at all- and it was chaos. I had the car towed to the dealership, and left for several days to again "fix it. " I got the car back, and now, exactly two months later, the smell of burnt plastic is again an aroma in my car, I have no keyless entry, no radio, no interior or trunk lights, no locks- and when I called the "five star dealership" they said they couldnt see me for four days! do they realize I have to commute two hours daily with the hopes that nothing else electrical fails in my car while I wait for "customer service.

5 Fuses And Circuit Breaker problem of the 2001 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 12/11/2003

Starter fuse keeps blowing. Started a year ago. I have gone through 25 fuses in one year. Called last year, Chrysler said they did not know. Brought car in on October 27th, 2004. Was sent home with nothing done. They did not know how to fix the problem. Problem getting worse. Afraid I will not have a vehicle soon. I am bringing it in on Dec 17th. Have done recearch and found many, many people with this problem. Is this something that is designed wrong? everyone seems to have to spend $500. 00 to buy a new starter to fix this problem. Why can't the starter be perfect? why do we need to buy a new one in order for this problem to go away? my car is only 3 years old. Here are some message boards you should review. . Read more...

Failure Date: 03/04/2003

My car keeps blowing the ignition fuse. It will be fine for a while then it blows two in a row and on the third it will start. I have contacted Chrysler and they said they have never heard of it before. Though they do say if I want to pay their hourly wage they will trouble shoot it.
