1st time jut got out of driveway in a. M. And car horn went off and stayed on through most of street and then turned corner and went off again for several seconds as I approached 1st stoplight. 2nd time as I very briefly beeped horn at friend twice, near my local donuts place & mcd's, but it continued ! I was too embarrassed to stop. 3rd time no one around it parked in driveway when I was shoveling snow. Next & worst time as I was pulling in to stop at plaza and it continued as I shut off car and even restarted it and locked door & unlocked it by key and nothing! went inside car and pressed coast button and finally it stopped. Cops in car ,were nearby when I came out later, said nothing, assumed it went off again with no one around ! 3 other times supposedly no one else around in driveway sometime within my earlier descriptions. Recall this thing!.

41 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

I have a 2006 Chrysler Sebring sedan. Over the past week the horn malfunctions where it will blare for 30-40 seconds while it is parked and untouched. This also happened while driving and I had to punch the steering wheel a couple times for it to stop. I had to pull out the fuse today. Why Chrysler doesn't recall this is beyond me. It is dangerous and can cause an accident.

42 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 01/06/2014

Back in January, my horn in my 2006 Sebring started blowing between 9 & 11 pm for some unknown reason. It lasted for about 40 seconds. I did think much of it at the time, but it started happening nightly. Practically every night the horns will blow for about 40 to 60 seconds. It seems to happen whenever there is a temperature drop outside. But now it will going off sometimes when I start the car and sometime while I am driving down the road. I have to hit the horn to stop it while driving to get it to stop. Other drivers and pedestrians seem to panic when it goes off because it is scares the hell of you when it goes off and there doesn't seem to be any danger in the area. My neighbors are getting a little annoyed with horn going off at night. It even when off at work while parked in the parking lot during the day. Chrysler needs to address this issue, because from what I have researched on this matter shows that this is a common problem with many Sebring owners. Many of them do not even know that they can report this and most likely are footing the $1000 price tag for the defect.

43 Horn Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 12/23/2013

The horn on the vehicle starts to randomly go off and will not stop. Horn will blow even while driving at random times. This is a safety concern as there is also a clicking noise that is emitting from underneath the airbag assembly as the horn starts to go off. I am concerned that at some point during driving the airbag may deploy at the same time as the horn is randomly going off. I have contacted Chrysler and they say they are unaware of this issue even though there are multiple complaints about this issue listed with the NHTSA and do not consider this a safety concern. Repair is quoted at $750+. This really needs to be investigated by NHTSA and Chrysler needs to be made aware of this issue and address for me and other customers who are dealing with this particular safety issue.

44 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 11/11/2013

Vehicle's horn blows at different times, ie. . . When turn signal is on, when it is cold outside and when nobody is in the car, usually in the early morning.

45 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that the horn would activate intermittently. The failure recurred several times. The dealer was made aware of the failure. However, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000. The VIN was not available.

46 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 11/11/2013

In the beginning, the horn would sound randomly while the car was parked and unoccupied. It would continue to sound until we adjusted the steering wheel or pushed on the horn. However, now the horn sounds randomly while driving. It doesn't stop until I am able to pull over and remove the fuse. This creates an unsafe situation with other drivers. The dealership said that it was some sort of electrical failure in the horn and airbag within the steering wheel. We replaced the fuse that controls this mechanism, but it didn't work. The horn and airbag are an integral piece, so in order to replace the horn, we have to replace the airbag. This would cost more than $800. Our easiest solution was to remove the fuse that controls the horn/ airbag. This means that I'm driving it without an airbag or horn. This is extremely unsafe for other motorists and myself. I contacted Chrysler. They stated that there was nothing they could do, because the horn does not fall under any of the warranties and there has not been a recall for this part. There are hundreds of complaints online regarding the airbag and horn! it is very unsafe and common, therefore it should be investigated for a recall. I noticed that on the NHTSA site, people are categorizing this problem as "steering," "electrical," or "airbag," because there is no category for "horn. " I hope that this is not keeping the NHTSA from recognizing how many people are effected. Please investigate it.

47 Horn Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 10/27/2013

Horn starts blowing spontaneously in cold weather and will not stop until car is warmed up. This presents a hazard to other drivers and is a traffic violation. Horn shares a fuse with the fuel pump, so no easy way to disable it and drive the car, and car will not pass inspection if the horn is unplugged. A web search shows that this is a very common problem with this car, but since the horn switch is part of the airbag unit the replacement cost is almost $1000.

48 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 10/23/2013

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that the horn sounded independently. The contact had to remove a fuse to stop the horn from sounding. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic, who stated that the air bag unit needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was 48,000.

49 Horn Assembly problem of the 2002 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 10/16/2013

I have a 2002 Sebring limited convertible that he had purchased in August 2012 with at the time just over 64k on the digital clock. It now has just over 71k on it. A few months before this I had an electrical issue that looked like a burned wire somewhere and a puff of smoke under the drivers side engine compartment. I tightened up the loose remote ground on the strut tower and everything was fine. A few weeks late I turned the car off and restarted and it was fine. Well about 2 weeks ago I went down to the doctors office and back and armed the security system like normal. Later I happened to look in the car and the security light was not flashing. I open the door and there is no miles on odometer, no dash response from the gauges, warning lights except for the e-brake light and oil pressure light. Also no horn, wipers, dome lights, trunk release, power door locks/keyless entry, ac, rear defroster, dash lights, warning lights, the trip computer indicates the compass heading but nothing else, no power top or heated seats either. Now, here's what's working. The car starts and seems to drive as normal, I have as I said the e-brake light and the oil pressure light on the dash, the power windows, outside lights, turn signals and hazards, reverse lights, radio/amp, power mirrors. The transmission indicator on the dash. I basically now own a 2500lb paperweight.

50 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 09/12/2013

When I unlocked the car remotely, the horn sounded continuously for more than a full minute. It happened a second time about a week later, but continued on and off for a few minutes after I drove a short distance. I have read online of many similar happenings, and in most cases, it looks like a possible repair for about $1,000. Most seem to be removing a fuse that also disables the air bag. If the air bags are life savers, do we have to wait for a death for Chrysler and the government to do something about it. . . . Updated 11-06-13.

51 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

2006 Chrysler Sebring, horn randomly goes off either while vehicle engine is on or off. . . . I took out the horn fuse and now have been driving unsafely without horn and apparently airbags. This vehicle has been in a few accidents and the air bags never went off. This needs to be recalled, there are many people with this problem, and not only are we driving around without a horn, but also no airbags. If I or anyone else gets injured in my car due to this matter there will be a lawsuit against Chrysler, and I am not the suing type, but I purchased this vehicle brand new and should have the ability to be safe and due to this issue, I cannot. What does it take for a recall. . . . Serious injury or death?.

52 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

At first I thought it was my own inept use of the horn that I was not pressing it right, but the horn would not sound when warning other drivers of a dangerous situation so I didn't realize that the horn was actually defective. A car was traveling through a red light and I needed to sound my horn to warn on-coming traffic that there was danger and the horn would not go off and the accident happened right in front of me. Perhaps my horn may not have prevented the accident but it would have helped. The horn sometimes worked and sometimes didn't but I just thought that I was always pressing the wrong place on the steering wheel. Since may 1, 2013, my horn just decides to sound at any time. It seems to be making up for lost time!?! it not only causes me to pull over in heavy traffic but it makes other drivers pull over as well. People are looking for danger when there is none. It is a real problem and I know others with my make and model have been having the same problem. The Chrysler dealership said that the horn must be fixed for safety issues and requires the horn and airbag to be replaced (mega expensive). But, if they replace the horn with the same assembly, what prevents it from being defective again? is the air-bag part of the problem, if so, is it defective too? these are questions that the dealership will not answer. The part needs to be redesigned so that this issue does not pose a problem again after being fixed.

53 Horn Assembly problem of the 2000 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 04/09/2013

Car horn keeps going off at random times, while driving and not driving. Looked up on internet and very well known issue, part is extremely expensive, only alternative is to pull fuse for horn out, but in doing so the air bags are also disabled.

54 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 02/26/2013

I was driving down the road and the horn started blowing by itself! this is a huge safety issue!!!!! I almost had an accident because of this happening. I am handicapped and have my grandchildren in my car. This is such a distraction to my neighbors and to other drivers on the road. Other drivers are distracted by the noise which is a safety hazard! I have had the car for 6 yrs and have never recieved any information about this problem. But in doing some research there are many other cars like mine that have the same problem. This is a grave situation with this happening. Why isn't Chrysler doing anything to fix this problem in their cars? would Chryslers upper echelon put their families in these cars and send them off to drive on the highways with the horn randomly honking and not being able to stop it while driving a vehicle? funny how people just can't put themselves in other peoples places because of their pompasness and narcissism. This needs to be addressed yesterday!!! I can promise Chrysler, if something happenes, to anyone, because of this safety issue, especially in my family, because they we neglegant in fixing the horn problem, I will see them in court with a good lawyer!!!!!!!! that you can bet on!.

57 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

While driving the horn will intermittently turn on. No amount of pressing on the horn button will make it stop. This especially will happen on cold days. If the horn is applied, it might also stay on for a period of time. After consulting with the Chrysler dealer, I am being told that the remedy for the situation is to change the entire airbag module, since the horn button is a part of that assembly. This assembly can not be taken apart for repair. After looking on the internet, I see that this is a quite common problem for this vehicle. I feel that this is a safety issue that Chrysler need to address. The repair cost is also so high $700-$1000 that most people will rather disconnect the horn than pay to have the problem fixed.

58 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 12/16/2012

The horn goes off by itself. When the car is parked or it is moving. This happens at night and it disturbs my neighbors. Sometimes it starts blowing while I'm driving. 59 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 12/03/2012

Out of no where the horn just goes off the only way to stop it is to remove the fuse. If you place the fuse back in, it blows the fuse.

61 Horn Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 11/19/2012

Horn started going off by itself and would not stop while driving. This is dangerous and could cause a crash. This has happened numberous times. It is very difficult to get it to stop (have to turn steering wheel and continuosly press horn down until stops). I've read numberous complaints about the same and think that this should be a recall due to number of people impacted.

62 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 11/15/2012

Horn/air bag module broken. Horn goes off randomly while driving, parking or unlocking/locking the doors. I drove into a garage on the way to work and they diagnosed the problem as the horn/airbag module was broken. The estimate was $1100; however, I opted for the less expensive, unsafe remedy and just had him disconnect the horn. (big safety hazard). There have been so many complaints for this and im curious why this has not been recalled. Its clearly a major safety issue, I scared an elderly driver this morning, my horn was blowing non-stop and she froze in the intersection. Very unsafe!.

63 Horn Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 11/01/2012

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the horn sounded unexpectedly. The contact also mentioned that the failure only occurred in the winter. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 75,000. The VIN was not available.

64 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 10/26/2012

While exiting the driveway, the horn just randomly began going off and would not stop. Nothing we did would stop it. We turned off the car, and began pulling all fuses and relays associated with the horn until it stopped. When we put the relay back in, the horn went off again. The only way to keep the horn off, is to pull the relay- otherwise it blows 24/7. We replace the relay with a new one; same thing- horn blowing 24/7. So now I am driving around without a horn, which is a very dangerous thing to be doing. Not to mention I can not pass a safety inspection without it. Based on our research, the only way to fix it, is to replace the "guts" under the air bag, which means replacing the air bag as well. How is this not a safety issue? Chrysler should be issuing a recall for this!!!!.

65 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 10/25/2012

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the horn began to activate independently. The contact stated that the horn sounded for at least 20 minutes. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The failure mileage was 138,728. Kmj.

66 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 10/24/2012

The horn started going off by itself while parked in my driveway. It has gone off several times since then while driving and parked. Will not honk when pushed but will start honking randomly after pushing the horn or without pushing horn. Will eventually stop sometimes after beating the steering wheel.

67 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

I used the horn and it didn't shut off when I removed my hand from the steering wheel. I had to remove the fuse to get it to turn off. I replaced the fuse but the horn would still go off by itself at random times. A dealer told me the clock spring in the steering wheel was faulty and needed to be replaced. Apparently, this is a common problem with this vehicle, and it is very unsafe since it affects the airbags as well as the horn.

68 Horn Assembly problem of the 2006 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

This is a safety issue not only for the driver of the car the others on the road with them! I was just going down the road and the horn starting going off all by itself. Finally took out the fuse. The horn just goes off randomly. It went off when hitting unlock button on remote and or just driving. Then took it to my mechanic and he said that the horn pad assembly which was a dealer only part had to be replaced some sensor or something. So right now I have just left the fuse out, because it is an expensive fix. $1000. 00. I agree with all of the other people that Chrysler should be fixing this issue. Removing the fuse has caused the air bag functions to be unknown. Removing the fuse to stop the horn also affects part of the fueling system according to the manual (same fuse). Removing the fuse has caused us not to be able to use our horn incase something ran in front of the car or to alarm others of harm. The horn is a function of safety and warning. This is standard on all cars as a precaution and warning system. This is not a part of the car that is special ordered, these come standard with all cars. So why is Chrysler not paying for this safety issue? your company has been run into the ground with recalls and safety measures not being taken seriously enough. Time to act on this situation; with over 70 complaints this must not be a whim. Sad part is this is not the only issue with this car three recalls on it and the dealer sold the car anyway without repairing recalls.

69 Horn Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 08/22/2012

Tl - the contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Sebring convertible. The contact stated that the horn activated independently. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 83,000. Pmb.

70 Horn Assembly problem of the 2005 Chrysler Sebring

Failure Date: 07/09/2012

The horn just randomly goes off. To get it to stop I had to pull the fuse which also disconnects the air bag. After reading about the exact same problem by hundreds of Sebring owners, I feel that Chrysler should replace the horn and air bag (Chrysler mechanic told me it was all one unit and to replace it would be over $700). This is a safety issue, not only for me but for others on the road.
