Automatic Transmission Park/neutral Start Switch problems of the 1999 Chrysler Town & Country

1 Automatic Transmission Park/neutral Start Switch problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2001

While driving at 45 mph it will shift into neutral by itself,when it slows to 5mph it shifts back into drive by itself. Has happened 3 times in last 2 years computer shows no error codes and I am told never could happen as I describe it. Not possible according to Chrysler and the dealer. So far lucky no accidents. Please help.

4 year old child was able to put car in gear without touching brakes.

3 Automatic Transmission Park/neutral Start Switch problem

When changing gears consumer doesn't have to put on brakes. There is no automatic interlock system.

Failure Date: 03/27/2001

Vehicle was able to shift out of gear without applying brake pedal. Would like to know weather this complied with fmvss. Dealer / manufacturer were not notified at this time. Please feel free to provide any further details on this matter.

There is no shift interlock system in vehicle to prevent child from taking vehicle out of park gear. .

6 Automatic Transmission Park/neutral Start Switch problem

Failure Date: 03/07/1999

Vehicle does not have the shift lock when foot is on the brakes. This is a safety defect.

7 Automatic Transmission Park/neutral Start Switch problem

It is possible to shift into drive without first applying the brakes. This is a serious safety issue with small children. Manufacturer should do something about this problem before someone gets hurt!.

8 Automatic Transmission Park/neutral Start Switch problem

This vehicle engages into gear without the brake depressed.
