1 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2018

I own a 05 town and country and the electrical system has been failing though the entire vehicle from the radio shorting out, headlights flicking on and off, rear sensors failing, upper display above the mirror gone black where the temp. And miles till empty controls are. On top of that the car is now randomly stalling while driving has me in fear to drive it with my kids. I have read hundreds of reports about this same issue with not only this year but all the way up through 2012. My mechanic has changed the erg valve and many other parts but there has got to be a bigger issue. Cars should not be stalling out while driving. If you look into all the complaints about this specific car stalling randomly you will see that there is a huge issue with this in many years of this car and someone is going to get hurt if they haven't already due to this issue with this specific make and model. I am requesting a full investigation into all the reports on this issue scattering the internet and I hope action is taken to save lives. When the car stalls while driving the power steering and brakes fail and is extremely dangerous.

2 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2016

My van dies on me while driving after I fill up with gas. Does it every time now. I pull out of the gas station and am in the street and it dies, I restart it after a minute but as I travel further into traffic and slow down behind another car or a light it dies again. It seems to be getting worse each time. I read other complaints for the same thing and that it was a bad part so I called customer service. They said tough, the factory warranty was up. When I asked further they hung up on me. I live on a very windy and hilly road with zero shoulder, just a mild to steep drop off into trees. If I stall in the middle of this road, no oncoming car will see me in time to stop and they can't go onto a non-existant shoulder. It will be worse when snow and ice come. I have kids and no extra car to use. If this is a because of a faulty part shouldn't they fix it or recall it? I am clearly not the only one with this problem. There are tons of people complaining of the exact same thing with the same van. What can I do? on the date below where it asks when did this happen I am putting the last time it happened since I can't put a range of dates.

I was on the way to a vet appointment with our puppy and had my 12 year old daughter in the van, we had traveled down the road we live on and then turned onto the mail road and after approx. . 5 mile the van started to hesitate in traffic and started to stall, I tried to turn the wheel hard to get it out of the road but it was to late and it stalled in the road, with in seconds I saw dark smoke coming out of the hood and started to smell it in the van, I quickly told my daughter to get out of the van and take the puppy, my daughter yelled whats wrong daddy, I said get out now and stand on the shoulder by this time flames had started to shoot out from under the hood, I joined my daughter and puppy on the shoulder and called 911 by the time they arrived the whole front end and dash was in flames and they started to put out the fire.

6 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2014

My headlights, odometer & prnd21 began flickering intermittently. Condition worsened and gauges would turn off and back on, warning lights would flicker off & on, radio cuts out. Condition has progressed - now van has stalled out while driving three times. Battery is good, grounds are connected. This complaint seems to be common, yet dealerships do not seem to have repair information from Chrysler. Stalling while driving is dangerous - Chrysler should help identify a solution and issue a service bulletin.

7 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2014

Recently purchased 2005 Chrysler town and country used. Within a few minutes of filling up with gas, the van stalls or nearly stalls. This has happened every time we've filled up the van with gas. Car stalls or nearly stalls while pulling out of the gas station or very soon after. Car restarts without any problem and is fine until the next fill up. It appears to be a problem with the vapor/liquid separator in the fuel tank. Many, many reports of the same problem on the internet. Chrysler needs to recall and replace the fuel tanks.

8 Car Stall problem

9 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2014

Numerous times, upon filling gas tank, vehicle stalls in first few miles of driving. Has almost caused numerous accidents. Apparently this is a common problem, the NHTSA really needs to push for a recall. I cannot fill up totally for rear of getting hit.

10 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2013

We recently purchased van with 66000 miles on it, do not feel safe driving now because of its problem. Stalls at traffic lights, all lights do a pulse/ surge, and effect driving vehicle. We have done some research on this problem and see that we are not the only one dealing with this problem.

11 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2013

I had just started the van to start to exit a parking lot. I was traveling about 5 mph. As I rounded a corner to the exit, the van's engine just shut off. I couldn't steer and the brakes didn't work. I had to coast until the van stopped to the gear in park and attempt a restart. After I was at a complete standstill I was able to change the gear to park and restart the van. After that it didn't stall at all on the ride home.

14 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2011

After fill up, vehicle stalls, the engine cuts off and the vehicle loses all power and power steering. This happened first on a cross country trip and caused some serious safety concerns when attempting to exit the gas station and merge onto the highway. This problem has been occurring regularly from the first instance in 2011. When fueling, the van is never over filled; we fill until the pump clicks off. This seems to be a fairly common problem in this generation of minivans as represented in online forums trying to diagnose the problem.

18 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2011

The 2005 Chrysler town and country stalls when we fill it up with gasoline. We had the valve replaced and all the codes cleared. It continues to stall on us. We have had two close accidents with other vehicles including a school bus passing by when the car stalls randomly. My husband has taken our van to the repair shop multiple times and no codes come up. This is a very serious issue because there is no reason for the van to just stall randomly. No death or injury but why does that have to be the case for someone to be done about this issue.

19 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2011

My wife was driving to work when the van stalled out. She said she lost all power and almost got rear ended. I read where the 2008 and 2009 were recalled for the same thing. I took the van to a mechanic they could not get any codes. I fear for my family's safety. The mechanic said it was most likely the check valve that is built into the gas tank but not for sure. I read were two people died in the 08 and 09 and I don't wont this to happen to our family. Thank you.

23 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2005

Minivan stalled while driving, vehicle sputtered and shut off. Vehicle has less than 36,000 miles. Chrysler claims it is a maintenance issue related to its throttle body. Dealer will attempt to clean throttle body. I believe that a vehicle normal use and dealer maintenance should never shut off while in motion and that there is a an issue with Chryslers throttle bodies.

24 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2005

I purchased a new, 2005, Town & Country minivan over the summer. I have just 6000 miles on this vehicle. Less than three weeks ago I had to take it in because the vehicle kept stalling out. The company fixed it at no cost to me, and even provided a rental vehicle. Apparently there was an "in-house" recall for this problem. Meaning that the dealerships knew about it, but not the consumer. Now, three weeks later I start hearing a noise in the steering column. I too had a 2003 Town & Country minivan which was subject to steering problems. I noticed that there was fluid all over my drive way and took it to the dealer. They told me that it was undriveable. So, now, Chrysler refuses to pay for the rental car. I was told by the dealer that the part in question was on back order, and that there were over 180 parts on that back order. Why should I the customer have to pay for a rental car on a new car when this is clearly a manufacturing problem. I am not the only one who has experienced this problem. I have contacted the company, and I only get the same old "I am sorry. Blah, blah, blah" song and dance. Where do I go from here?.
