The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated while attempting to make a left turn at a red light at approximately 15 mph, the vehicle stalled almost causing the contact to crash into another vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was drivable and was taken to a dealer who diagnosed the vehicle with a wheel bearing failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to several other independent mechanics who provided different diagnosis and repaired the vehicle; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not notified of this failure. The failure mileage was 188,000.
My car ran fine and had no problems. One foggy morning however, I was driving and stopped at a stop light. While pressing the brake, the engine suddenly revved up. The car lurched me toward the stop light. I took it to the dealer, but he didn't find any problem. This happened again one rainy day. The engine started revving. The car lurched me toward while I pressed the brake. And now its been doing it for a few month.
I filled up my gas tank. I barely got down the road and my engine started sputtering. As I entered a left turn the steering wheel locked up. I ran into a curb and had to press the gas peddle several times to keep it from dying. After trying to turn the wheel several times the steering finally loosened up. The car continued to sputter all the way home. I took the car out an hour later and the sputtering had quit and the steering was better. 2 days later I was driving on the freeway. As I entered a left curve my steering locked up. This was very scary because I had my daughter in the car. I managed to get to the side of the freeway, but the steering wheel would not turn at all. I played with the wheel trying to turn it back and forth. I turned off the van and then back on again. The wheel was still locked. Finally after several scary minutes the wheel unlocked and I cautiously continued home. This was very dangerous as we could have gotten in a severe accident since this happened at freeway speeds. The steering wheel locking up has happened off and on before after starting the car and attempting to back out of the driveway. It always loosened up after a few minutes. Now I am scared to drive this car because I don't know when this will happen again. This is our primary transportation. I have also noticed that when it is wet or raining the car will also have problems with the steering.

I just picked up the car after getting recall r03 performed at fowler Dodge in oklahoma city. I had never had the problem that was stated in the recall but was advised to get it fixed anyway. On my way home from the dealership on 07/27/15 at approx. 1800 hrs. I hit a bump and the key fob went to the off position leaving me with out power steering , brakes, and engine. That is what the recall was suspose to fix. The one problem I had never had with the vehicle, now I am having it after the recall.
Has happened numerous times now. Vehicle cuts out and steering goes out after getting gas. Has happened on busy road and is terrifying. Have seen several such complains about this make and model.
I was making a left turn and the steering wheel was hard to turn left, not to the right. While turning left the steering colum made a load noise. When I parked took the key out the switch the motor continued to run for about 3-5 seconds before it stoped. When I came out of the store cranked up and went straight home slowly and the left turn was still hard to make and when I stoped in my drive way I put the vehicle in park and took the key out the motor ran for about another 5 seconds. I checked the power steering fluid , the oil and coolent all looked okey I waited about 15 min. And cranked the vehicle up the key seem to turn farther than normal but it cranked up okey,so I shut it back off took the key out and the motor ran another 3 -5 sec. I put the key back in the switch and the radio and mileage started flashing on and off so I took the key out and talked to a mechanic about it.
I was driving when vehicle suddenly shut down completely. I had no power whatsoever. Was unable to steer or brake the vehicle. The van rolled through a stop sign and stop light before stopping completely. It was about ten minutes before I could start it up again. Now I do not trust the vehicle. I am afraid of driving the vehicle. Feel like I had a brush with death. Prior to this incident, about two weeks beforehand, all lights on the vehicle stopping working while I was driving at night. I purchased new bulbs to replace the headlights but suddenly all of the lights started to work again.
Driving on the turnpike at 60mph. The engine turned off. Coasted to a stop. Engine started right up again. No interruption with electrical power. Lights and radio still on. Searched online and found multiple complaints with the engine just turning off. Dealer could find nothing wrong. This has now happened 3 times. Afraid to drive the car.
Spark plug blew out of engine ripping out the treads shop recomends replancing the head. Because engine caused spark plug to come loose. This is a poor design to have parts work thier way out and could be a danger if it hit someone.
Instrument cluster lights all go on, then the gauges stop working, the trip computer stops fails, the lights flicker high to low or low to high beam and can't be changed sometimesthe engine stops running while travelling down the road at 25-75 mph! the first indicator seems that the air bag light comes on as being "off". Sometimes the lights & gauges go back to notmal. A guaranteed short-term fix is to remove the battery to reset the battery button under the battery, or take the positive terminal off & ground it against an exposed bolt. Many seem to have been fooled into buying a new battery, only to have the same problem re-arrise, inadvertantly "fixed" when the a new battery, but just lifting the old battery a little would have done the same short-term trick. The sequence of failure seems to be (rain influenced?): air bag light comes on, lights flicker, all guages & gear position indicators light up, speedo & tach pulse then fail, then you can just drive with all warning lights lit -no tach or speedo. . . Then every thing resets in 10 seconds to 10 minutes, or, dash lights go out then the engine quits, leaving you driving a powerless rolling brick in traffic, fighting the steering wheel without power steering, having only inertia (if you are Smart enough to have thrown the van into neutral) to coast off the road, through an intersection, etc. Our dealership's diagnosis was a "bad instrument cluster" - hardly, as I don't see how disconnecting the battery will instantly "fix" the instrument cluster for a while, or how the cluster will affect switching between high & low beams, or kill the engine after a sequence of events. This is a well know progressively dangerious problem, of failure leading to sudden loss of power. There are many, many electrical complaints relating to electrical failures regarding loss of functionality and engine power.
Ac unit failed on this because of the lines going to the rear ac unit corroded through. I have read several posts and see there was a TSB sent out regarding this. Contacted the dealer and they said there is no recall. This really surprises me with so many issues on this.
Vehicle was traveling at freeway speed when engine sputtered, all warning lights lit up on the dash and the vehicle immediately lost all power/function.
The first time, about a half mile after a fill-up while making a right hand turn, the engine died. Re-started without any other problems. Most of the time when this has happened is when making a turn but there has been times when stopped in traffic, the engine dies. Has always re-started. There has never been a failure if the tank is re-fueled to approximately 7/8 full.
At 27,000 miles the a/c on my Chrysler town and country failed - leak in rear evaportor core. The system will hold no refrigerant at all. The dealer, white plains Chrysler, 70 westchester Ave. , white plains, NY. Cannot get this part as it is on back order and will not be available for one month at least. There are several other of the same vehicles at the same dealership awaiting this part. This seems an unreasonable situation and one the manufacturer should address. The only explanation from the manufacturer was that this is a popular car! it looks like an extraordinary number of defects in this part as I research it on the internet. That this part will not be available until the summer is over is unreasonable. We are a retired couple and my husband has congestive heart failure and could not in any way be subject to the temperatures inside this vehicle. We are thus without transportation. We are "trapped" in our home for the entire summer. Why can't the manufacturer make this part available to the dealer in a more timely manner?.
Started hearing bumping noises from front end. Took to repair shop. They replaced tie rod ends and swing arm bushings. Noise reduced, but stil bumping on acceleration. Returned, had to replace front top engine mount.
3/27/2007. 2005 Chrysler town and country. Contact states that the vehicle lost power and the gears could not be changed and there was no control over the gas or brakes .
