Headlights: low beams do not work at all but high beams do. Second time this vehicle has had the same problem. Last time Chrysler replaced under a lifetime replacement, just short of a recall yet here I am having the same problem again.

2 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2014

I was driving g south on interstate 35 as I was entering the intersection where interstate 35 , 80 , 235 meet a semi hauling what looked like gravel was merging onto 235 at the same time I was . All of a sudden all my vehicle lighting went dark and the truck driver saw me. . I was frantically trying to get them on and I did not see him and just when he merged he saw me and slammed on his brakes . Resulting in my vehicle being pelted with sand and rock . My wind shield had numerous dings in it and since it was totally dark I didn't notice them till it was to late to stop him . My lights go off and on and until it's fixed I can't drive after dark. I went to the local Chrysler dealer only to find out it was not covered under any warranty and since I am a disabled veteran I do not have the money at this time to get the lights fixed and now the windshield is cracked.

We recently purchased van with 66000 miles on it, do not feel safe driving now because of its problem. Stalls at traffic lights, all lights do a pulse/ surge, and effect driving vehicle. We have done some research on this problem and see that we are not the only one dealing with this problem.

4 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2012

I have had several incidents in last 3 weeks where all interior and exterior lighting flicker or pulsate. Over the past year I have also experienced total loss of exterior lighting but only noticed it when parking or at lower speeds without causing a hazardous situation at the time of the incidents. On each of the incidents I was able to toggle the light switch several times and was able to re-activate the lights. This was an intermittent issue separated by weeks between incidents and it hasn't occurred for a couple months. The flickering is a new issue and some on-line research to the flickering led me to this.

5 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2012

Overhead lights in console went out one at a time (one had already been replaced within 1st yr. ). I went in to buy replacement bulbs at the dealership. The design has changed and part of the plastic has to be trimmed to make it fit. They put the bulbs in and it still didn't work. They said the wiring must have melted so you need to order the entire overhead console. After hearing this I wondered why there had not been a recall - wiring burned? and, it sounded as though they were familiar with this problem, I was not the first. My husband looked at it today and he got the light to work but not with the switch. It is getting power but it won't operate the bulb. They had said part of the plastic on the bulbs melt. Once again, melting bulb base not a recall issue? Chrysler told me the dealership needs to troubleshoot to find the problem - with me paying $92. 50/hr. ! there are several instances of this happening which I found on the internet - lots of bulbs having to be replaced and since they "redesigned" the bulbs the do not work.

6 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

Instrument cluster lights all go on, then the gauges stop working, the trip computer stops fails, the lights flicker high to low or low to high beam and can't be changed sometimesthe engine stops running while travelling down the road at 25-75 mph! the first indicator seems that the air bag light comes on as being "off". Sometimes the lights & gauges go back to notmal. A guaranteed short-term fix is to remove the battery to reset the battery button under the battery, or take the positive terminal off & ground it against an exposed bolt. Many seem to have been fooled into buying a new battery, only to have the same problem re-arrise, inadvertantly "fixed" when the a new battery, but just lifting the old battery a little would have done the same short-term trick. The sequence of failure seems to be (rain influenced?): air bag light comes on, lights flicker, all guages & gear position indicators light up, speedo & tach pulse then fail, then you can just drive with all warning lights lit -no tach or speedo. . . Then every thing resets in 10 seconds to 10 minutes, or, dash lights go out then the engine quits, leaving you driving a powerless rolling brick in traffic, fighting the steering wheel without power steering, having only inertia (if you are Smart enough to have thrown the van into neutral) to coast off the road, through an intersection, etc. Our dealership's diagnosis was a "bad instrument cluster" - hardly, as I don't see how disconnecting the battery will instantly "fix" the instrument cluster for a while, or how the cluster will affect switching between high & low beams, or kill the engine after a sequence of events. This is a well know progressively dangerious problem, of failure leading to sudden loss of power. There are many, many electrical complaints relating to electrical failures regarding loss of functionality and engine power.

8 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2011

I have had the same issue as many others on this posting. My 2005 chys. Twn & cntry started by the lights flickering on and off, then recently has been hard to turn on. I have to toggle on/off switch and brights to finally get them to turn on. Once I get them on they often turn off by themselves and I have to pull off the road to get them back on again through the whole process. It is getting increasingly harder to operate the lights.

Failure Date: 05/15/2011

2005 Chrysler town and country. Headlilghts sporadically shut off while driving at night. After several clicks of the switch they come back on, but will turn off again without any warning. This is very dangerous. Browsing online shows many people are having the same problem and yet no recall yet? it appears the switch is faulty.

11 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2010

It first started by failing to turn on after a few times of trying to turn on the lights on the dash. It then progressed by turning off while driving in the city. It worked for a few months without incident until 2 months ago. After a cold start the lights would come on but after driving it to the store about 3-4 miles away and restarting the car it has failed repeatedly. I believe this to be a serious safety issue. I've had to drive home by manually holding the high beams on to get home. There was almost an accident due to this problem.

There has been at least (2) occurrences when they shut off shortly after starting to drive. The only thing that seems to fix it is turning them on and off repeatedly until it corrects its self.
