Engine Burning Oil problems of the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country

Three problems related to engine burning oil have been reported for the 2006 Chrysler Town & Country. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2013

Vehicle engine completely failed. Frozen, never to turn again. Oil levels were fine, oil change religiously. Engine burned oil like crazy, but I was aware so I was on top of it. Outcome: new engine at the cost of $4000. Failure was: a piston bearing that just fell apart. Engines do not fail at 79k unless they are poorly built. Chrysler should reimburse.

2 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler town and country. While having the oil changed by an independent mechanic she was informed the vehicle was low on oil. The oil was replaced. Approximately 3 months later while having the oil changed by the same independent mechanic she was informed the vehicle must be burning oil because it was again extremely low on oil and there were no leaks. The oil was again replaced. Approximately 3 months later while parked the oil light began illuminating on the dashboard. More oil was added to the vehicle and the oil light stopped illuminating. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where she was informed it was burning oil at a normal rate so it was not repaired. The failure continues to recur. The failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 59,000.

3 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2009

The contact owns a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country. The contact stated that the air conditioner, rear right door baby latch and the climate control have stopped working. The contact stated that the vehicle continued to burn oil and the climate control failed. The vehicle feels that the failure was related to an electrical issue, but the dealer has repeatedly stated that the vehicle does not have any problems. The dealer also stated that the oil was burning normally. The failure mileage was 40000 and the current mileage was 61000.
