I was driving down the road and suddenly my van shut down causing me to drive over a curb and now my van does not start it cranks and there is a spark however it does not turnover and start and does not run!.
Vehicle shuts off while driving.
The vehicle has began stalling while driving and the power steering and power brakes do not work after the car stalls. This is an extreme safety hazard for my wife and kids who use this vehicle and have found it difficult to steer and stop while driving. The problem could not be replicated by a service center and no solution was found. This problem has been occurring since August 2021 (which is when we bought the vehicle).
The vehicle shuts off while driving very unsafe. You loose all control of the vehicle when it shuts off steering and brakes.
See attached letter outlining my complaint. I purchased a Chrysler Town & Country minivan from security Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram in amityville, long island in February 2009. Approximately every two years or so since I purchased this car, the egr valve fails, resulting in me having to replace it. Now in July of 2019, the egr valve has failed again and requires replacement. This is the 5th time this darn part has needed to be replaced!!.
Will be driving straight down a city street going out 40mph. The vehicle will then just loose power and turn off. Did not hit a bump or speed up or anything. After loosing power will try to control van to the side of the road where it will sit for a few minutes. Will then start it again and leave. This has happened 3 times in the last 2 months.
Drove vehicle in the morning of 5/31/19. Drove about 25 miles. Got home sat about hour. Turned key to start and no noise. But have full power to everything else. There is no noise when you turn key.
I just bought a 2009 Chrysler town and country. It's not even been a full month, I paid 9,000 cash and already the car shuts off when I come to stop. I just got my car back for the second time and it shit off on me 3 times from the shop to my house. I have 3 kids I spent all my savings in this car the used car lot only has a 30 day warranty and it's almost up it's been in the shop twice and still has the same problem. Its needs to be fixed a. S. A. P.
My vehicle for the last couple of years has had issues with the engine just stopping in the middle of driving down the street. All the electrical stuff stays on but the engine just stops running. There is also a smoke smell that was coming from the back sliding doors a short time ago and then the doors stopped shutting correctly and they wouldn't lock. Over night the battery would die from the doors not shutting correctly. Now we just have the doors shut off so that we don't have anymore issues with it dying all the time and just hope for the best when driving it that it doesn't die and cause an accident. When I looked up recalls with this vehicle it said this should be covered but when I put in my VIN it said there was no issues. Not sure where to go from here. Vehicle was in motion driving down a main street multiple times.
Clockspring goes bad from 2 Town & Country try I owned & the touring shifter gets stuck & can't move out of park. The heat for the rear also is bad, the line leaks.
Sometime overnight on Jan 1/2nd 2019 my vehicle started on fire. The vehicle was not in use, was parked in our driveway, and had not been in use since the morning before. The fire must have went out on its own. But caused damage to both the inside and outside of the vehicle. The inside of the van smells heavily of electrical smoke.
Minivan keeps on stalling going under 30 miles per hour. . . . No engine light or codes appear on dash. . Last time I was trying to make a turnand it stalled in the middle of the intersection. Im concerned since im mother of 4 and I drive them to school and back.
The power doors on either side do not open or close electrically and the drivers side rear passenger door does not open from the inside of the vehicle making it unsafe for a passenger in the back seat. The windows do not go down either. Major issue. This happens all the time when in motion or stationary.
R03-NHTSA 14v-373 - wireless ignition node module made appointment with Chrysler dealership of paramus, NJ, dealer originally told me that parts were in-stock. At time of service, they tried to sell me additional services that I refused - they then claimed that the parts were no longer in stock. Dealer is refusing to correct this matter free of charge - without purchasing additional service from them.
Rear a/c evap core and h block bad. Problem apparently from 2006 to current models. Chrysler will nor acknowledge problem, dealers hands are tied.
The car stalls while driving at both low and medium speeds. The engine dies completely so no accelleration and the power steering fails. I must shift into neutral to try to restart. This may take several tries. This has happened several times over the last few weeks. The car had a tune up and coils replaced with no change in the stalling issue. Note: the ignition key and switch were previously replaced following a recall.
I have received two recall letters over the past year relating to the the safety recall of the "wireless ignition node" (win) that may have unintentional movement of the "frequency operated button ignition key" (fobik) from the "on" to the "accessory" position while driving. It was noted that this could cause unintentional engine shut off and increase the risk of a crash. I have called my Chrysler dealership (kings Chrysler Jeep in cincinnati ohio) to try and get this fixed 4 times (6/16/2015, 7/1/2015, 10/2/2015, and 1/16/2016) over the last several months. Each time I call, I'm told that "they are restricted on parts and to call them back in a couple weeks". The associate in the parts department also told me that Chrysler has been extremely slow in providing parts relating to this recall and that they have to deal with calls like mine all the time. I'm not sure how to get this fixed and even if my notification to your association through this complaint will even work because it appears that fiat/Chrysler has been slow on multiple recalls. Please help if you can and let me know how this can be addressed in the near future (I don't want to keep driving an unsafe vehicle)!.
My tpms system periodically gives me false info re:my tires. This last time the wheel monitor itself was leaking. This, after I had replaced all 4 last winter. What life span do these devices have?.
Recall r03 / NHTSA 14v-373, I have been trying since June 2015 to get my local Chrysler dealer, at prosperity dr, silver spring, MD 20904, to do this recall. On June 22, 2015, the van was at the dealer for the recall work but when I went to pick it up, they said the parts never came in. They said they would order again and contact me. No one did. I called again today, September 17, 2015 and requested the recall work. They still do not have the parts. They said that they can not get the parts because you have restricted sending the parts to the dealers for service. I was told to call again in 2 or 3 weeks. Please help!!!.
I have been having an issue with my vehicle for over a year now which more recently has been issued a recall r03 relating to the fobic. I have now had 5 instances where my vehicle has stopped while I was driving. I was told of the recall but the parts were not available until more recently. I called and was put on a list 2 months ago to get this fixed. They said it would be about 3 weeks and it has now been two months. When I called today the dealership said that they only get about 3 parts every so often and I was still number 23 on the list. I am very upset by this. This issue should have been fixed in a timely fashion. This is very dangerous and I have been lucky to not be in an accident. I need this to be resolved immediately. I was hoping you could help by putting in my complaint.
We have received several recall documents from manufacturer and have tried to schedule service over the past year and repeatedly told parts are not available. This is a violation of the order to still have a critical issue outstanding over 1 year without resolution.
While filling the rear driver side tire with air, the aluminum valve stem snapped off causing the tire to completely deflate. Replaced aluminum stem with rubber stem as a temporary fix while searching for replacement parts to the tpms sensor. Approximately two days later, while attempting to unscrew the valve cap from the rear passenger side tire, the aluminum valve stem broke off in my hand causing the tire to completely deflate. I found after market replacement aluminum valve stems that fit the oem tpms sensors and had them all replaced. Unfortunately it is only a matter of time before these fail. Aluminum valve stems on tpms are clearly a safety issue and warrant a recall. Tpms stems on all newer vehicles are now rubber.
I was driving and got hit on passage side the van was totaled the front air bigs went off however the side ones never did.
I finally received the second notice for the safety recall of my vehicle requesting me to make an appointment to replace the win module and fobik's almost a year after I received the first notice. The maintenance clerk held me on the phone to verify they had the parts in stock, which at the time they had 2 available. I made the appointment for 3 weeks after I spoke to them to coincide with my vacation time. I received a call the day before the appointment to confirm. I get to cueter Chrysler the day of the appointment, June 24th, 2015, and they do not have the parts available for my car. The parts are ordered, but no eta available. How is this possible? this is a big inconvenience. Should they have held the parts available for my appointment? are the clerks knowledgeable about parts specific to each vehicle? how can this be avoided?.
Recall l25 was received prior to the date and mileage listed above. The dealer was contacted and I was told the parts were on back order. This was never repaired. I then received recall r03. I contacted the same dealer on 6/17/15 and was told r03 superseded l25 and parts would be ordered and should be received in a little over 2 weeks. I recontacted the dealer on 07/20/15 and was told parts were still on order. I recontacted the dealer on 09/28/15 and was told parts were still on order. I then contacted the fca group recall assistance center and spoke to sheralynn. She stated parts were available for the r03 recall and would contact the dealer. She stated she spoke to the dealer and they did have parts on order and I was near the "top of the list. " this is totally unacceptable. The statement in the letter I received that ". . . We are sincerely concerned about your safety. " appears untrue.
I would like to complain about this specific recall notice I have on my van. I have been on 2 waiting list with 2 different Chrysler dealers in my area since this recall came out due to not having parts available to fix the problem. The problem is the wireless ignition node module. I don't understand how there are no parts available, when Chrysler made this recall. If you know of a problem to the vehicle, make replacement parts and get the cars fixed. I would like an answer as to when I can get my vehicle fixed and when more parts are going to be made available. I want my car fixed immediately. This is a safety issue and it needs to be fixed now.
May 2015 we received a safety recall for the win module. The local dealer has not received replacement parts. It has been 8 months which seems like a reasonable time to expect parts to be available. This is our complaint!!!! we do not want to wait til an accident happens to have it replaced. . . . . .
Ignition causes key to shut vehicle off while driving. Dealer states manufacturer does not/will not have recall parts for another year possibly. Have been notified of recall and contacted dealer months ago.
My mechanic diagnosed a faulty angle censor. I was told this runs the airbag. My extended warranty company will not pay to replace it (as it is not a covered part). I am reporting this to trend the problem. Maybe other vehicles of this type have had the same issue. I am concerned for safety and that my airbag may not deploy.
2009 Chrysler town and country, consumer stated the car is dangerous to drive because its shuts off in the middle of traffic. Hard to restart after it shut off. +.
Today when starting my van. I noticed it was taking longer to turn over than normal. Then tonight out of nowhere it quit starting all together. After doing some online research I have found that it is the power module most likely and that there will be a recall eventually, but it is in the early stages only. How am I supposed to raise two kids and make a living with a van that doesn't run. I am so sick of this van. I have had nothing but problems with it. Chrysler better start making things right with their customers. I will never buy another Chrysler product ever again. I do not feel safe in this van, and now it doesn't even run.
On 9/23/2014, I went to start my vehicle in the morning and it took a few more seconds than usual to start. When is started it ran fine. A little later, I went to start my vehicle, it started and then immediately stalled. Each of these incidents happened another time on this day for a total of 4 times. I called my local Chrysler dealer, nemer Chrysler, and they suggested I bring it in. I would be charge a $86 plus tax diagnostic fee per hour. After being there for 2 and 1/2 hours, they told me my vehicle needed a tipm (totally integrated power module) as well as some other routine maintenance for a total of $2000. They told me the tipm manages the power supply of the car and if it fails, I would have not power, it is dangerous to drive my car and I could get into a serious accident if its not fixed. I wasn't sure I was given honest information from the dealer so I decided to come home with my vehicle as is and do some research. When I got home, I went online and found that Chrysler is recalling this part but the recall is in the early stages and has not been launched yet. I also called Chrysler and was told the same thing. Chrysler told me that I would be contacted once the recall has been launched. In the meantime, I have 3 small children and need to get them to school, etch but I am concerned that driving my vehicle could cause harm to them. I cannot afford to rent a vehicle while waiting on Chrysler to launch this recall. I also don't want to fix the vehicle yet because I don't want to be responsible for the cost if Chrysler is recalling the part and will pick up the cost eventually when the recall is launched. I also read online that many owners of the same vehicle are having the same problem which leads me to believe it is a chronic problem with these vehicles.
All four brake warning lights come on when the car is started and they do not go off. When the incident first happened the brake warning lights would stay on until the car was turned off and would not come back on for days. This same cycle would happen over and over again. Now the warning lights come on a few minutes after the vehicle is in motion and will not turn off. I think that there is a problem with the instrument panel or it has something to do with the l25 recall that has not been fixed yet.
My wife was leaving from a remote work site. She couldn't start the vehicle. I went to check it out. All the electrical seemed to work fine. We would get a single loud click from the starter. We towed it home. I went to replace the starter and found that the connector for the power wire from the ignition switch was melted and brittle. Believing the starter to be bad, I replaced it and fixed the connector to the starter. Still had the same loud click. I took the old and new starter to o'reilly auto parts and had them tested. The old starter did come back bad. The new starter was still good. I also had them test the battery and the alternator. Everything came back good. I took everything home. I hooked everything back up. Still the same response. After the 25th time of trying to start it, we began to no longer have the clicking noise. Just silence. The vehicle will not start or turn over. It is a no crank/no start issue. It is believed that we have a bad ignition switch or bad win. I cannot do any more diagnosing myself nor do I have the financial capacity to take it to a dealer to have investigated. I have emailed nick cappa but am not expecting a positive response as the dealership claims that our particular van is not covered under the current recall, even with the recall expansion. So the van will be sitting here with a new motor(separate issue) at only 53k.
Recall: l25/NHTSA 14v-373 this recall concerns the frequency operated button ignition key (fobik). Chrysler continues to state the the part required to provide a permanent remedy for this condition is currently not available. It has been almost a year since owners were notified of this defect. I have not been notified since the initial mailing about this safety recall.
