1 Radio/tape Cd Player problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2015

The vehicle repeatedly shuts down while driving. Instrument panel and radio will suddenly go irratic and the car will power completely down while in motion. Ignition recall was performed several times within a few months. Dealership is saying they can never duplicate problem while in their possession. Ignition still over cranks or starts when it wants. I can understand why dealership is unaware of this problem. I have come close several times of being rear ended. This problem is severely dangerous.

2 Radio/tape Cd Player problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2015

When exiting my vehicle Sunday, it would not shut off nor would the key come out. I was finally able to turn the engine off but not get the key out. This meant that the acc mode was allowing power to remain on. Because the dealership was closed on Sunday, the power remained on until I could call them Monday morning. I was told to jump the vehicle off and bring it in. When driving to the dealership, I realized the radio no longer was functioning because of the power failure caused by the ignition switch that was not working. They replaced the ignition switch free of charge but will not fix the radio. I am confident it was caused by the failure of the key and the subsequent power drain. All of this was caused by the failure of the ignition switch. I am not a mechanic but a teacher so I may not be using correct terminology. I hope you understand what I am trying to explain. Also, for over a year, I have been corresponding with Chrysler about an issue I have been having with the ignition switch. The same ignition switch that I am speaking of above will (numerous times) become disengaged and shut off. Because of this I never allowed my children to drive it. Chrysler on many occasions told me to "be very careful and take all precautions" because the parts were not available to complete this repair. I know that all of these problems are related.

3 Radio/tape Cd Player problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2014

2009 Chrysler town and country. Consumer writes in regards to several problems with vehicle. The consumer experienced ongoing problems with the radio/dvd/ the consumer made several trips to the dealer, where they suggested a new battery. However, the new battery did not rectify the problem. Also, the driver side window, as well as the ignition would stick at times. The dealer lubricated the window. However, the problem continued.

4 Radio/tape Cd Player problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2012

I attempted to start the car - there was power to the windows, radio, door locks, etc. When they key was turned, a "clicking" sound could be heard, but the car wouldn't turn over. Aaa responded, checked the battery and determined it to be sufficient for a "cold start" but still could not get the van to start. The car was towed to Chrysler and we were told to replace the battery. After replacing the battery, the dealership still couldn't get the vehicle to start. They "re-coded" the wireless ignition module, the car started. After starting, we experienced intermittent problems. The van randomly wouldn't start, but hours later would. One key would start the van, while the other wouldn't. After getting stranded with children, I took to carrying both key fobs with me. Several times, the key fob wouldn't release from the ignition even when the van was placed in park. We received a recall notice in July of 2014 for the wireless ignition node. I contacted the dealership and was told I'd be notified when the recall would be fixed. On January 30th of this year, the van stalled while I was driving. We couldn't restart it, nor could we depress the break, or the shift button to get the van into neutral to have it towed. We also couldn't get the key to release from the ignition. Aaa was again called, and the helpful operator was able to get the key out and release the shift to neutral. The dealership let me know that I needed to replace the defective wireless ignition module. After multiple calls to Chrysler's recall information line, we were told the repair would be reimbursed, along with the cost of the rental car. $669. 77 later, Chrysler is now stating they won't reimburse me for the repair because "the part numbers don't match" and "no fix for the recall has been authorized nor has a time line for fixing the recall been released".
