1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2023

Air conditioning condensation leaking below dashboard and onto carpet, causing electrical shorts in air bag and anti-lock brake (abs). Chrysler identified this issue and issued a recall (k25) in January 2011, but only for vehicles manufactured through December 3, 2008. In consultation with Chrysler and according to its own internal documentation, my vehicle (manufactured in February 2009) has the same defective parts and is prone to the same safety issues caused by condensation leaking into critical electronic safety components, but they refuse to remedy the safety issue "due to it not being subject to the recall" -- despite Chrysler personnel conceding that my February-2009 was manufactured with the same, identical, flawed parts as those 2008 and earlier 2009 models that are subject to recall k25.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2022

Chrysler aka fca has recently recalled tpms sensors of 2022 vehicles but has not recalled the 2009 town and country tpms systems. I bought my 2009 town and country new and bought the maxicare bumper to bumper lifetime no deductible warranty for it. It now has 180,000 miles on it. I've complained to the local dealer on numerous occasions about the tpms giving false warnings. They have changed components for several years, but the problem has never been resolved. I've given them numerous videos of the false warnings as they happened. They have been unable to resolve the problem even after consulting Chrysler "experts" by setting up star claims with Chrysler corporation. This is a safety issue. The false audible and dash light warnings take place driving on expressways. The light stays lit for many miles. Then the system resets and the same thing can happen the same day or days or weeks later. The last date was 8/4/22. Attached photos are frames from the 8/4/22 videos I made showing 264. 7 trip miles alarm with two normal and two flat tires, 265. 4 trip miles all 4 tires flat, 299. 2 trip miles all 4 tires still flat, 341. 8 trip miles normal display with normal tire pressures shown in all 4 tires after system reset itself.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2019

As I was driving, and with no dashboard warning alert, the brakes suddenly sank to the floor. I drove extremely slowly, continuing on towards my apartment, and each time I had to stop, the brake pedal sank to the floor. I managed to get home safely, but the car still has no brakes.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2019

I was driving down navajo boulevard a main road in holbrook arizona a vehicle coming from a side road pulled in front of me and I had to slam on the brakes to avoid a collision. I then proceeded down navajo boulevard and quickly realized that I had no power no steering, no brakes, nothing although the engine was still running. I was able to proceed down the road and turn onto a side road to the side until it completely quit running and was able to stop on its own.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2018

All of a sudden the whole vehicle completely shuts down. No lights, power steering goes out, brakes lock up and engine shuts down. This was in the middle of the road as I was driving.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2018

Yellow triangle, abs, srs etc comes on intermittently. Scan diagnosis shows that c2200 abs module internal failure, needs special programming. The light comes on while I am driving and then goes off again for a few miles and then comes on again. Brakes are working fine, had new brakes etc put on rear earlier this year. The light comes on when I am moving. This happens on city streets.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

The contact owns a 2009 Chrysler town and country. While driving 45 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle began to swerve without warning. The failure was persistent. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (stateline Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram, 800 goldhill road fort mill, SC 29716) where it was diagnosed that the calibers and rotors were warped and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred several times. The contact also stated that the parts needed to be replaced every 12,000 miles. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that no open investigations were open for the defect. The failure mileage was approximately 42,300.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

(gl no dealer info) tl the contact owns a 2009 Chrysler town and country. While driving various speeds, the power steering and brakes seized and the vehicle decelerated. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road, shifted into park, and restarted the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was previously included in NHTSA campaign number: 11v139000 (electrical system), which had been expanded into NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000 (electrical system, air bags). The vehicle was not included in the new expanded recall. The approximate failure mileage was 145,000.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2016

I went out and started my van, the wipers turned on automatically so I thought maybe I had turned the handle somehow. . . So I turned it off and that's when everything went wrong. All the dash lights started flashing and cycling through start up checks and then saying everything is off abs, airbags etc. The seat was even repositioning itself. I took out my phone and started recording this weird episode that I have never seen before. I bought this van 5 months ago and don't know of its history, but this is not something anyone should have to deal with. 3 days later my wife was driving down the road when this started happening to her, the difference was that she sits closer to steering wheel then I do and the seat was jerking her back and forth while driving and scared her. Thanks dumbasses. I bought this van because I wanted the stow and go seats and side curtain safety along with everything else. My van is a loaded limited edition with most available options. After looking around the internet it seems like the tipm or a loose connection could be the problem and that dealerships are pretty much a waste of time for help on this. Chrysler knows of the issues because it happens across their vehicles and have only fixed certain models. The fact that a cracked shorting wire in the power door or a loose connector could cause all this is to go wrong is just poor engineering. . Read more...

10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/23/2016

Our 2009 t&c stalled in city traffic this morning without any warning when slowing down to below 20-30 mph (with the traction control light briefly illuminating after the stall). It had stalled previously 3 separate times in similar situations when either my wife or son were driving the van. Of course when the engine dies there is no power steering or power brakes which makes handling the vehicle extremely difficult. The van immediately restarts when you turn the ignition key, but the cel does not light up so there are no codes in the computer to help diagnose the problem. This is a serious problem that lots of people are having. Just read the blogs on the internet. If the van stalls while making a turn and you can't brake or steer, then it's just a matter of time before a potentially serious accident occurs. As far as I know there are no open recalls on the van (ignition recall already taken care of). The weather was nice and streets were dry.

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2016

Recently purchased vehicle used (dealership filled with fuel after test drive but before we took it home). On the way home on city streets (while approaching an intersection), the engine stalled causing loss of power brakes & power steering. After putting the car in park, it started up & ran fine. A couple days later, my wife was driving it & while turning right at an intersection it did the same thing. She barely was able to safely complete the turn due to the loss of power steering. After that incident it hasn't happened again (but we haven't filled it with fuel again yet). Research on the net leads me to think it is the common problem with a valve in the fuel tank. We are very nervous driving the car & are dreading our next fill up. This is incredibly unsafe & I hope Chrysler is willing to do something about it.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2016

Clock spring c123f c123b c1219 and c2204. Just reached 80000 miles and eap traction light is on and the brakes start grabbing doing straight down the highway. I have had two other vans that had recalls on clock spring. Wonder if there should be a recall on the 2009 town and country for clock spring work and steer angle codes.

13 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2014

Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that vehicle experienced a complete loss of power. After the failure the abs and traction control warning illuminated. The vehicle was repaired under recall 14v373000(electrical system) however the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken where they could not diagnosed the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. Kh.

14 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

2009 Chrysler Town & Country. Consumer writes in regards to wireless ignition node module recall notice replacement parts and other vehicle issues. The consumer also stated the brake needed to be replaced, the dome light stayed on and the low washer fluid light illuminated.

15 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2014

Driving down the road the car turned off. Don't know if my knee hit the key chain to turn off the car or if the car just turned off. I was driving straight and turned the car back on and it was ok. If I would of been on a curve it might have been different. I have since then bought a quick release lock so my keys are not attached to the key for the van. Haven't had any problems as of yet. But I just bought it. Just think the design of the car could be different to have the key placement somewhere else or change how the key fits into the car to avoid this from happening.

16 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2013

Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated the rear brake wore out with in twenty thousand miles. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer to have the brake changed. The dealer replaced the rear brakes and did not find a defect with in the braking system to cause the rear brakes to ware. The failure mileage was 21,689. Jo.

17 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2012

Car starting accelerating on its own. I wasn't able to slow down as the brakes didn't respond (they seamen stuck). This has happen at least twice in a 3 weeks period. I have to push the accelerator harder in order to somehow made the car responsive. The second time this happened, a brake signal came up, once I was able to take control of the car, I parked on side of the road, turned the car off and then turned on again and signal went off. Both times I was driving in the freeway at 65 mph trying to pass another car with my 2 kids under the age of 5!!!. Second time I almost hit the car infront of me.

18 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

Purchased a 2009 t&c 3 weeks ago, 47607miles. First incidence occurred after 1 week. While driving the vehicle lost power steering, (electronics, lights, radio, etc remained active), I realized the engine had stalled/cutoff. I was only going about 20mph, I had to put the car in park and restart the ignition. Car drove fine. Took the car back to dealership where they machined the rear rotors. Week 2, took the car back to the dealership again, they machined the front rotors. Week 3, while driving the same incident occurred, engine cutoff during operation without warning. Luckily I was in a neighborhood and speed was approx 15-25 mph. Electronics remained active. (there were no warnings or error codes when the engine shut down. ) had to put the vehicle in park and restart the engine. Took the car back to the dealership for the third time in 3 weeks of ownership where it currently remains as they try to chase this ghost. I am convinced this vehicle is dangerous and not safe to drive since the engine cuts off randomly. I asked first team Honda of chesapeake to take this vehicle back and I would buy a different vehicle. The used car sales manager offered me 75% of what I paid for the car 3 weeks earlier and told me there was nothing wrong with my vehicle. It is under warranty for 90 days so I will continue to send the car back and warn others before they purchase an unsafe vehicle.

19 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2012

The contact owns a 2009 Chrysler town and country. While driving approximately 65 mph with the cruise control activated, the contact depressed the brake pedal but the vehicle did not respond. The contact stopped the vehicle and after depressing the brakes numerous times, he was able to get the brakes to release. The contact smelled a burning odor and heard a whistling sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The failure occurred approximately four times at different speeds. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.

20 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2012

The contact owns a 2009 Chrysler town and country. The contact was driving 35 mph when the skid control warning light illuminated and the anti-braking system engaged. The front passenger side axle then seized, causing the tire to grind and feel as if it was slipping from under the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the front hub assembly. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 80,000.

21 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2011

The contact owns a 2009 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph with the brake pedal depressed, he noticed a vibration in the brake pedal. The failure recurred whenever the brakes were applied over 20 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000.

22 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/11/2011

While I am driving down the road, the van looses steering, brakes and acceleration. It's as if it completely shuts down. I put the car in park, turn it off and restart it and it seems to be ok. This has happened 4 times with the van, once with my husband, twice with me and once with the dealership. The last time it happened to me I had 5 children in the car and was traveling 35 mph in the left hand lane of a busy street. Luckily, I was not rear ended! the dealership had "fixed" the van a week earlier by replacing the wireless ignition module. I immediately returned it the the dealership after the last incident. They have had it for 3 weeks and can't duplicate the event again. Chrysler called us on Friday and stated that we have to pick up the car because the can not find anything wrong with it. I'm terrified to drive the car, especially with my children. I drive the car multiple times each week on a highway and can only imagine the outcome if this happened on a highway as opposed to a city street.

23 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

Brakes vibrating. Took it to dealer and they redid the breaks and charged me and now the van is doing the same thing again. The brakes need to be redone again. Only 20,000 miles on the new brakes. There must be a problem.

24 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2011

The contact owns a 2009 Chrysler Town & Country. The contact was driving 65 mph when the brakes were applied and the steering wheel began to jerk abnormally. In addition, the vehicle would not change gears. The contact also mentioned that the brake warning lamp was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was not able to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown and current mileage was 50,636.

25 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2011

The contact owns a 2009 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that the brakes were replaced three times within one year. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 65,000.

26 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2010

This car has had its brakes replaced three times and does not have 50,000 miles on it. We are very concerned about the safety of this vehicle.

27 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2010

I am about to put my fifth set of front brake rotors on my 2009 Town & Country. I have tried mopar, autozone, and napa rotors. Chrysler employees have told me that this is a well known problem, that affects the town and country and the journey, which share brake components. They also told me that the mopar rotors were "junk". I called the customer assistance line and the person who took my report, told me that chrylser is aware of this problem and has just completed a complete re-design on the components. They extended the warrantee to 30 or 36 thousand miles, which does not help me. I received a call back from a case manager, whose job was clearly to get me off the phone. She did not want to know anything, was not interested in the dates and miles of rotor changes, and basically said: once you tried non-Chrysler parts, we are no longer willing to help you. She also said that she knows nothing about re-design or any "known brake problems". My trying different manufacturers' parts actually proves that the issue is not the fault of the rotors, but likely the design of the brakes. Something is causing them to wear improperly. The rotors "warp". I installed a set at one year (23,916 mi), two years (40,997), six weeks later at (43,745) and now need my fifth set at 46,400 after another six weeks. One non-Chrysler mechanic said that he thinks it is possible the brakes are undersized for the minivan. My dealer is attempting to help, trying to find a solution. Officially, Chrysler says that changing rotors every 10 to 15,000 miles is "acceptable". It is not. I had two previous Chrysler minivans and changed brakes between 80 and 100,000 miles. Chrysler need to recall these brakes - when I drive on the highway with the family, brake distances are very long and the vibration of the steering wheel upon braking is extreme. This is very dangerous.

28 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2010

Chrysler vehicles are having problem w/the braking and rotors. It is a known problem with several models. I have a 2009 town and county minivan with 11,000 miles. I experienced problems with braking. I have several children in the car so I was concerned. When I took the car to the dealer - all four rotors and breaks had to be replaced. Why -- there is a know problem with the Chrysler rotors/brakes. Why has the car not been recalled? I have a concerns since this is an ongoing problem. The mechanic was fully aware of this problem with several Chrysler models. I believe this is an incident whereas these models should be recalled since it affects safety of the passengers and their families.

29 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2010

The front rotors of my vehicle have to be resurfaced after only 12,500 miles. The service manager told me Chrysler had a notice about the rear ones as well and he would take care of those as well. This does not seem like something that should be happening with a brand new vehicle. I am very concerned about this.

30 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2010

My 2009 Chrysler town and country with less than 27,000 miles required re-do of all rotors due to what the dealer said was excessive wear. The problem was noticed because I began to experience a wobble in the steering wheel upon braking. This vehicle was purchased 1 yr ago as a demo and I have never experienced a brake problem like this in any vehicle I have ever owned, so I have to believe the problem was not due to "my improper driving/braking" habits as was inferred by the dealer.

31 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2010

2009 Chrysler town and country. I have less then 14k on my van and have had the rotors replaced twice already. I have another appointment scheduled next week for them to be serviced again.

32 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2010

The contact owns a 2009 Chrysler Town & Country. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph she applied the brakes and the brakes were abnormally rough. In addition, the steering wheel began to shake. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, they could not replicate the problem. The manufacturer was notified and they advised the contact to bring the rotors in to be machined down. The vehicle was returned to the dealer for the repairs however there was not enough metal on the rotors to be machined and the contact was given a new set of rotors. Approximately 10,000 miles later the failure recurred and once again there was not enough metal to machine the rotors. The dealer provided a new pair of rotors at no cost however, 12,000 miles later the problem recurred and the contact was very concerned about the safety of the vehicle. The vehicle had not been further repaired. The failure mileage was 7,000 and the current mileage was 34,000.

33 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2009

Premature brake system component failure.

34 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2009

The contact owns a 2009 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that the front brakes and rear rotors wore prematurely. The contact replaced the brakes and rotors three times within 28,000 miles of purchasing the vehicle. The contact stated that the stopping distance increased due to the faulty brakes and he believed that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The failure mileage was 9,575.

35 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2009

Issue with brakes: I purchased my 2008 Town & Country van in April 2009 and mileage was 8666. In November, I heard a squeaking sound and took it to two Chrysler dealers where they both told me it was the front brakes and rotors and id have to have new ones installed and the cost would be around $600. 00. My mileage at this time was 13387. I really didn't believe it so I took it to my mechanic where he confirmed it and I was charged $450. 00 to have new front brakes installed. Currently, im experiencing the same problem brakes squealing! mileage now is 18739. Chrysler cannot tell me this is normal so I would like them to either replace the brakes free of charge or have these vehicles recalled due to faulty brakes. Who can afford to replace brakes every 4800 miles? you should follow toyotas lead and admit the town & county has issues with its braking system!! theres something wrong correct it now!.
