36 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2018

While driving, the engine cut out and I lost power to steering and brakes. The traction control light then came on when I finally pulled over. After resetting, the vehicle started and drove normally. If this happened on a busy road, serious injury would have occurred to the passengers in my vehicle and anyone else I would have struck due to loss of control.

37 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2018

Approximately two months ago the 2010 t&c began being sluggish to start. We replaced the battery and it started fine. A week after it began to stall with the dash lights turning on and off. A day or two later it began to stall and turned off in traffic. The battery has been checked and it is functioning - the local mechanic performed a diagnostic test and no code was present. Currently it had stalled and turned off several times - extremely stressful and dangerous.

38 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2018

Vehicle stalls between 20-40 mph on city streets and the traction icon comes on. Power steering immediately goes out and the vehicle must be pulled over and restarted. Problem was very intermittent when it first appeared 3/31/18 but now happens on almost every trip, typically near the beginning of the trip (11/21/18). Mechanic has failed to replicate, diagnose, or fix the problem.

39 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2018

The car goes from the "run" position to the "accessory" position all by itself while driving on streets. When that happens you have no power steering or brakes and the engine turns off. Since you have no steering or brakes, you can't control the car or stop it. Very dangerous/ life threatening. There was a recall for this on 2010 Town & Country's, but they tell me that my car is 4 months outside of that recall. So they know it was an issue and still is.

40 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2018

My wife was backing out of a driveway, the engine shut off and the power brakes and power steering didn't work. The vehicle drifted into the road because she was unable to stop in time. There were no other cars involved in the incident.

41 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2018

This has happened to me 3 times within the last few months. At random times. I was driving 25 miles or under when my steering wheel locked while driving. It happened twice in my neighborhood and once on a city street coming up to an intersection. I was unable to turn the wheel at all! my traction control light on my dash board came on as well. I came to a stop. Turned the car off and turned it back on and the steering wheel was no longer locked and dash light was no longer on. Went back to normal with no issues. Very concerning!.

42 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2018

Vehicle started having issues in 2014. Vehicle just would not crank one morning. Got a jump start and took it to autozone and got a new battery. About 3 months later the same thing happened. Got a jump start, went to autozone and they found nothing wrong with battery, alternator or starter. Autozone gave me a new battery anyway. About 4 months later, happened again. Brought vehicle to Chrysler for win module recall fix and explained what was happening. They said handling the recall and a new battery should fix the problem. About 2 months later, had the same problem. Chrysler replace win module again and I got Chrysler to replace battery at this time as I explained that the battery was being affected due to the part that was being recalled. All was fine for about a year or so and then started happening again. Brought it back to Chrysler and they said battery had a dead cell. I explained that they had just put the battery in about a year ago and it should be under warranty. They told me, "we don't do warranty replacements on warranty replacements". So, I am just dealing with the battery right now. Most recently, about 3 months ago, dash board warning lights started all coming in at the same time. Then they would all go off and one side of the dash illumination would go out. Next start up, illumination would be fine again. This happened several times over a couple of months. Then, one day while driving, the power steering went out, the traction light came on and the vehicle shut off! was able to put vehicle in neutral and restart. This happened a few times in a month, but was always ok after one restart. Now, it keeps happening and only lasts a few minutes before needing to be restarted again. Afraid that this is going to happen while turning across oncoming traffic or in a situation where we can not pull over to safety and will get rear-ended.

43 Steering problem

46 Steering problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2017

While driving the van it randomly shuts down the engine and it is very difficult to steer. You cannot accelerate out of the path of traffic. This is extremely dangerous!.

47 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2017

The engine of my 2010 Chrysler town and country shut off while traveling on the highway at a speed of approximately 60mph. It has happened two other times at lower speeds while in town. The issue left me and my family in danger of a highway collision. This problem appears to be with the ignition switch spontaneously dropping into accessory mode which matches a recall for the same issue in other town and country's very close to the date of manufacture of mine. That recall was 14v373. My van was manufactured four months after the recall window relating to the ignition switch issue which subsequently disables the airbags and other safety equipment. The specific part that was the issue in 14v373 and what I believe to be the issue here is the win module.

48 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2017

The car has cutoff a few times while driving down the road. I would have to wait a few minutes before it would start up. When you turn the steering wheel so far it makes a wining noise.

49 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2017

My 2010 town and country shut off while driving without a warning it almost cause me and my kids to be in a accident this morning taking my kids to school please something needs to be done about this problem before someone gets hurt or worse.

50 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2017

Driving along and all of a sudden the car turned off, steering became tight, and steering wheel locked. After checking into the situation, the ignition key was in the off position, upon trying to restart the engine it says bad key and vehicle would not start, wheel wouldn't turn and vehicle was disabled.

51 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2016

During drivining (typically city speeds of ~30-45mph), without warning or notification the engine will shut off and you will lose all power stearing and braking is seriously deminished. It has happened once on the highway at ~65mph that I am aware of). When this happens the only indication you get is the red traction control light on the dashboard. It can happen while turning, driving straight, curves, etc. In order to gain engine power and the ability to stear, the only fix action is to place the vehicle in neutral and turn the key to restart. It will not just restart in "drive". We have taken this vehicle to the dealership 4+ times in order to diagnose and fix. . . To which we have been told "there is nothing showing up on diagnoses", "sounds like it could be x, but it's $1500 to replace and we can't guarentee it will fix it". We have made sure that it is not visably realated to the ignition issue noted on some other same year/model vehicles. . . Although it cannot be 100% ruled out as somehow related. I have done research on Chrysler webforums and this issue has been noted by multiple other owners (ie. . Read more...

52 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2016

My Chrysler town and country 2010 is suddenly turning of while driving. No one xan find a code whats wrong with it.

53 Steering problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2016

Engine will shut off while driving, loss of steering, control and brakes occurs. This is while driving on a city street.

54 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2016

2010 town and country can has been stalling while driving the steering locks as well as the breaks. It usually happens when I'm going between 20 to 35 mph. Iit will completely die in the middle of the street and the worst is crossing a busy intersection! I have taken it to several mechanics and unable to find the problem some of them just ignore this dangerous problem. It has shut off in the middle of rush hour with my kids in the van. There has been several town and country van owners with the same problem. When will Chrysler corp or anyone going to address this issue before someone gets killed? this has been an on going problem since last year with no help!.

55 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2016

The van stalled while driving down a busy highway. I lost all control and the car shut down. I had no control over speed, steering or brakes. I also could not pull over due to being in center lane. All I could do was coast to a stop and put on flashers. I then put in park and restarted engine.

56 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2016

The van will have the ignition cut off and the steering and brakes get hard to operate. This usually happens when turning and you have to put van in neutral while trying to avoid traffic and restart it . This has happened about 7 or more times already. Chrysler has a recall on this till manufacture date of 6/17 mine was made 9/10. And they say no recall to date for mine. I don't feel I should have to pay for there deffects.

57 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2016

Vehicle stalled (highly dangerous, loss of power steering at high speeds): 2nd time in less than 1 week vehicle has stalled while driving in motion on highway between speeds of 25mph (1st time) and 45 mph (2nd time). No turns involved. Weather conditions were favorable with no rain or inclement weather, both were at night 7-8pm timeframe @ approx 50 degrees f outside air temp both times. Vehicle is a 2010 Chrysler tc with 4. 0 liter engine. 119,875 miles when it happened a second time. 1st time esp light came on, cannot confirm this occurred the 2nd time. No prior indications, no prior reported problems that I am aware of . Second owner, purchased car under warranty @ approx. 44,000 miles. Very hard to understand how this has not been diagnosed given the amount of complaints. I am an experienced mechanic in the aviation field, had this been an aircraft, the fleet would be grounded.

58 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2016

The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 25 mph, the vehicle stalled. In addition, the engine and the traction control warning lights illuminated. The contact also stated that the steering wheel seized. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.

59 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2016

Driving down the road at approximately 20 mph attempting to make a left turn, car stalled, losing power steering and brakes. Would not re-start after incident. Key also does not return to "on" position after attempting to start vehicle, stays in start position.

60 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2015

The electronic stability control comes on for no reason. When driving normally under normal conditions. It comes on and stays on. The car then losses power steering, no power at accelerator, and brakes are engaged. A basic loss of control of vehicle. You have to try to pull over shut off vehicle and then restart. This resets and you can drive normally. This is an extremely unsafe and scary when it happens. Has happened three times. Have taken car to two different Chrysler dealers which find nothing wrong because no trouble code for them to read. . This has happened three times now. My wife is afraid to drive the car.

61 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2015

I was driving about 50 mph on a straightaway (city street) when I noticed the speed reducing. Then, I noticed cruise control had turned off and the esp light turned on. Power steering then was gone and power brakes. I steered to the side of the road and turned off and restarted the car. All was fine after restarting. At the time of the car shutting down, all lights and the radio were working fine. Note: the previous recall of 14v373000 does not apply to this van as it was manufactured in August of 2010. My theory is that the ignition switch failure that was cited in the above stated recall applies to not just vehicles manufactured before June 2010 but applies to this vehicle, as well. This was the third incidence.

62 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2015

The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact mentioned that the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver and the brake pedal required much more force to be depressed. The contact pulled to the roadside and was able to restart the vehicle. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed, but the cause of the failure was not found. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000 (air bags, electrical system). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 92,048.

63 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2015

The vehicle (2010 Town & Country) suddenly shuts down when running but usually turns on after simply pushing in (not turning) the ignition key. The vehicle is currently not covered under Chrysler's recall r03 (win module), since it was manufactured after the cutoff date (June 18. 2010). Vehicle is unsafe to use, since vehicle suddenly losses airbags, brakes, steering and power. Vehicle is now suddenly shutting off a lot more often.

64 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2015

The van ran out of oil. It was completely dry. No warning signs came on. No leaks. No smoke for the exhaust. One day it began to knock real bad and still no oil light was on. Now the van needs a new engine. This shouldn't of happened to a 2010 model with only 65k miles on it.

65 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2015

The contact owns a 2010 Chrysler town and country. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled and the power steering and brakes malfunctioned. The contact mentioned that the antilock brake warning light illuminated. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was unable to duplicate and diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 60,000.

66 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2015

Was driving our 2010 Chrysler town and country straight down the road in our housing plan when the engine shut off. All of the electronics in the car still operated but, there was no power steering or brakes. Had to coast the vehicle to the side of the road to stop. The vehicle ended up stopping on a hill but, without the brakes it started to drift backwards. At this point the emergency brake was pushed to get the vehicle to stop. This happened the very next day as well. Luckily we were not driving down the highway as my 3 children in the vehicle. This could be deadly if driving at 60 mph down the highway.

67 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2015

While driving the vehicle the engine turns off and there is a loss of brakes, steering and engine.

68 Steering problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2015

Driving vehicle in residential neighborhood at 35 mph, dash displayed the loss of traction warning light. I noticed, too, that the accelerator pedal wasn't working and apparently the entire engine completely shut off. All electrical components still worked including radio, navigation system, etc. I completely lost the ability to steer the vehicle as well. Had to put on my hazards. Stop. Put the vehicle in park. Turn the vehicle off. Turn it back on and it would run again.

69 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2015

We had just filled up the gas tank and we're ready to get on the highway when the radio shut off. It came back on after 2 minutes without any interference. This alarmed us as lately we have had a hard time starting the car and also the steering wheel goes rigid sometimes and the car stops. Our dealer has checked and tells us there is no problem.

70 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2015

Our 2010 Chrysler t&c stated to have engine stall problems since two years ago. Basically the engine just stopped when driving (the rpm drops to 0). The driver will feel the steering wheel gets heavy and the traction warning light comes on. We did the Chrysler r03 safety recall repair (I. . E replace the win module) but it does not help at all. Especially prone to stall in the first 20 minutes of driving when temps was low, and especially when humid. We have had it checked by multiple mechanic shops but no clue was found. Multiple parts have been replaced (crankshaft position sensor, camshaft sensor, and egr valve) but nothing worked. Now for every driving we expect at least 2-3 engine stalls on the road. It is very dangerous!! I see lots of similar complaints online and Chrysler should definitely solve this!.
