Vehicle shuts off while driving shutting down all power controls.

When trying to start start button is pushed, van turns over, starts for ~2 seconds and shuts off. Takes several tries to get it to completely start and continue running. Also when turning van off. Push button, van stops running, however, it switches to accessory and takes several times pushing button to switch to off and stay there. Vehicle is on level ground and stationary parked position. This has been going on for a month off and on. Recently the last week.

I have problem with my 2012 Chrysler Town & Country fuel pump raly the fuel pump keep running when the car off. Some company recall for the same problem.

The van would not crank when I got ready to leave work. I waited a bit, put my halo charger on it and it cranked. The next morning it would not crank. It would turn over but not start. We had it towed to a mechanic who kept it for 4 days and told us we needed to take it to the dealer. We were told that it was the tipm, $1600 to replace, but $400 to do a bypass.

The van will just shut off while driving. I have been keeping track in the last 4 months it has shut off completely 32 times while in motions sometimes starting right back up other times takes so cranking to get it to turn over. Last Wednesday 10/14 the car shut off while I was driving my kids to school in a 45 mph zone and the van went right off the road luckily no damage and no one being injures. If that was on the highway it would have been a lot more dangerous. I did some research and found that many of this year have the same problem. Also the sliding power doors will not shut and stay shut without holding them with pressure to close they also will close randomly and almost closed on my 4 year old in it luckily I was able to put my body in the door so she did not get squished. I can give me detail on either if you need any.

Engine shuts off while driving and all electrical goes out while driving. Typically van restarts fine but does it again while driving.

It started with my wipers continueing to run and when the engine was turned off. The tipm was diagnosed by two machanics as being the issue. In waiting to have the funds to have the tipm replaced my car is now shifting into drive 2 and drive1 on its own while I was driving. I have seen several other complaints about other owners having the same safety issue.

Upper top engine camshaft rollers are defective also electronica fuel injection problems followed by faulty dash temperature gauge also driver side seat has a defective left side motor with faulty seat belt holder.

It turns off when I'm on the road.

My van needs a new tipm. This is a recall for some Chrysler vehicles under p54/NHTSA 14v-530. Why does this not include all Chrysler vehicles? the van starts intermittently. Sometimes without issue other times takes minutes and several attempts.

When we are driving on streets, the power shuts off. I can barely pull over since the power steering shuts off. There is no lights or anything. Car must be shut off and turned back on to fix the problem. I have 2 children under 2 and I am so worried about getting rear ended. Luckily it's never happened on a highway. The dealership basically said it's not their problem. Mechanics cant figure out why it shuts off . It only happened once when we bought it in the fall. Now that its warm it happens a lot.

I will be driving the van and it will randomly shut off it only dose it at low speeds at like 20 -40 but I lose power steering everything until I put it in neutral and start it again.

The fuse box under the hood they call the tipm has a known problem with the fuel pump fuse going bad that the vehicles computer does not register the car fax shows that it was looked at in CA. In oct. 2019 for hard to start but no problem was found ibought it on March 8 2020 it ran great until the fuel pump went out along with the fuse box they said they donnot have another one that I would have to have it rebuilt a new fuel pump in.

I have an additional complaint: 11286310. Traction control and abs system deactivated while driving around town. Engine cut off while driving, speedometer dash cluster stops working while driving, with children in vehicle (minivan). U110a dtc. Network, mfg, fuel and air metering fault. Driving safety issue.

The car stops and wont turn back on. I was told the tipm is bad causing it to shut off on the highway. We were driving when it shut off and lost all control. It was as if we had never started the car.

The blind spot detection system is not working again. This was repaired on may 12, 2017 for a cost of $1409. 84 and has failed again. This is my second complaint to NHTSA. I did not receive any feedback from my first complaint. A tech at the dealership told us that the control module is located in the wheel well and is exposed to moisture and dirt which causes the failures. He told us that Chrysler knows that they have a design problem but did not design a permanent fix. I do not think that I should have to pay for this repair (again). In the van, visibility is limited and the blind spot detection system is needed for safety and crash avoidance. This problem happens now anytime the vehicle is driven.

Door caught fire while driving, smoke everywhere, smoke coming from under hood.

Fuel pump won't turn off after turning engine off. Drains battery completely. Tipm is to blame. Read the other comments or look into the lawsuits. This affects all Chrysler vehicles with the pentastar enigne.

I reported a strange sound to my trusted mechanic, and his tech quickly affirmed that the fuel pump was still operating even with the vehicle turned off and keys removed from the ignition. They told me without skipping a beat that this was a tipm malfunction. They were confident that this was a common problem and that certainly there would be a recall through the dealer. However, there has not been a recall issued for this problem on this make, model, or year of this vehicle. I have read around the web, and it does indeed sound like a common problem Chrysler town and country minivans made between 2011 and 2013 (mine's a '12). It seems to be happening to a lot of people who, in good faith, trusted the Chrysler brand. It also seems like this problem carries with it very significant risk of dangerous malfunctions: vehicle stalling at high speeds, vehicle fire, other damage to vehicle that could be avoided if the tipm were replaced. Chrysler, do the right thing: in good faith, protect your customers. It will be far cheaper for you to issue a recall on the front end than to risk dealing with a class action suit that arises as a result of customers suffering injury or, god forbid, death because you didn't take care of business. In the long run, your bottom line will be healthier if you stay out of the tragedy segment of the national news (think takata airbags and Toyota brakes).

Van has had very few problems, I have reached approximately 190000 miles and started having the stalling while driving issues that others have also reported. There are no indicators or pre warnings on dashand actually takes a few seconds to realize the car has shut off. After it happened the first time, my mechanic suggested to start with a full tune up as no codes were coming up. It has happened twice since. It is a terrifying problem, to just have car stop at random with no warning at any speed. 3 times. . . 1st in motion city street going straight, 2nd time in motion city street right after making a turn, 3rd time on highway slowing down to turn. Why is this not part of the recall r09 for durangos/grand cherokee? I can no longer trust to have my kids in this car that is designed for families. . . How do I know the replacement parts will be safe?.

Sometimes the van will start sometimes it won�t. You get in press brake and push the push start and it won't start.

Multiple times the vehicle has stalled and completely shut down while in use. My father had it stall twice while on the freeway at freeway speeds. I have recently had the vehicle stall while idling at stop lights and stop signs when trying to proceed forward. We also had an issue where we took the vehicle out of park and into reverse and using the gas pedal was not propelling the vehicle at a proportional rate - and then when put back in drive the same thing occurred - the vehicle was still running. We had to park, turn it off, and restart the vehicle which cleared the issue in that moment. This is extremely dangerous as the vehicle completely turns off while you are in the middle of using it! we have our babies in these vehicles while we are using them! I have read too many other accounts of this happening to other owners who also are spending thousands of dollars for mechanics to go hunting for solutions - most of which do not work. This is unsafe and needs to be investigated as a larger issue with this vehicle. I'm listing my speed below as 5 mph because that has been a frequent case; however, another driver of the vehicle has experienced this at high speeds previously on my vehicle.

At first it used to kill the battery overnight. Now fails to start. No warning lights. No check engine light on.

1) -stereo and navigation system on end off 2) - warning light's turn on on the board and run out of power 0 power 3) - injeccion problem.

I was driving on the freeway with 2 small kids in the car and a semi right behind me when my van completely shut off nothing was working. After what seemed like an eternity all the power was restored and I was able to drive to off ramp and stop. There was no warning and no lights showing a problem. Van is currently inthe shop diagnostic test showed no error code. Me and my kids could have been killed along with others as I had no control. Currently awaiting reports from mechanics.

Electrical has been malfunctioning from rear view window detectors, reset camera, door locks, auto start, and now door latches. I have to manually place key to start van, and now the heater turns on randomly, and the door opens without being anywhere around the van, and it locks and unlocks randomly, sometimes with kids in it with the keys too. I can't go anywhere without coming out to parking lot and doors are open. It will sit in our garage, honking, locking and unlocking, doors opening and closing, with no one touching the key or near it. I had repair twice at a dealership, bob thomas dimension Ford, who charged $1200. 00 with no fix, and could not keep going without a vehicle. Now it feels unsafe to even drive.

Car will be moving and automatically shift to a different gear and something going on electrically with car. As well it shakes a great deal.

The van has turned off completely on the road and in the middle of the freeway several times. The van will turn on, but as soon as you let the key go, it will turn off.

Our vehicle will randomly turn off while driving. This has been happening for over a year. We took our vehicle into the dealership. They looked for codes in the computer to help fix the problem but they said no codes were generated so there was nothing they could do. They suggested, when it happens again, come back to the dealership immediately so they can look for codes. We did this and they found nothing. Their next suggestion was to leave the vehicle with them for a couple of weeks so they could drive it and try to see if it would happen while they have it. We did that and they found nothing. Their last suggestion was to wait for it to get worse. There is the problem. They are asking us to drive a vehicle that we know shuts down while driving. It has happened while driving on the highway, it has happened while driving on a busy street during rush hour. Fortunately, we were able to pull over safely to restart the car. The concern is this situation is so random it may happen when we can't pull over safely and us or somebody else gets hurt. We have looked online and have found that others have experienced similar situations. It is awful that nobody has a way to fix this family vehicle until it gets worse. We feel we are forced now to get rid of this vehicle.

When stationary, parked, not turned on, with no key in the ignition and driver no where near vehicle the side doors and hatch open by themselves without a person pushing the key fob buttons. They also close by themselves in the same manner. Sometimes the beeping noise indicating that the doors are locked or unlocked goes off by itself too.

Vehicle intermittently shuts off and loses power while operating during both high and low speeds on highways, city streets, and other roads, during both turns and driving straight. Slight movement of the key being used causes the vehicle to regain power. Happens with 2 different keys which both look in good condition. After some research, reading some forums and speaking with mechanics, the win module, a part that was recalled on previous Chrysler and other models up to 2010, appears to be the issue, and is not an isolated one. Potentially a very dangerous problem that I'm sure has already been reported and should be addressed by the manufacturer.

Blind spot detection system controllers failed do to corrosion.

The blind spot detection system is mal-functioning and was beeping intermittently. I took it to the dealer and they said it would cost around $3k to fix it. At the time it was intermittent and I was not going to fix it now it is non-stop and intolerable and dangerous as it is not performing its intended safety function and causing a distraction. The design allows this piece to get water in it and quit working. I believe this is a design flaw and a safety issue and Chrysler should fix it. Additionally, it appears many people online have had the same problem. Some handy people have fixed it themselves by replacing the sensors at a cost far less than $3k. I think this should be investigated please. Thank you.

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Chrysler town and country. The contact stated that the air conditioner failed and the front passenger and rear vents would not blow out cold air at all. The driver's side vent blew out semi cold air; however, the vehicle's temperature remained hot due to the failed air conditioner. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 103,000.

Driver door caught fire after recalled window switch while driving. Luckily, a friend behind me had a fire extinguisher so the fire was contained to the driver door.
