6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2024

I was driving down the road and when rpms were between 1 and 2 and I applied brakes my van stalled out at the lights. My battery is new so I know it's not that. There is a large number of people that are saying there is a safety concern. I am scared to drive it in case it happens again. It was on a busy road in front of a mall. [xxx] . Please look into the number of people reporting this same issue. Also when slowing down the vehicle starts to stall like its going to die. Then I had to put myself into park and restart the vehicle and it ran fine again. I was able to get home. I have a check engine light that is related to some kind of pressure system according to o reillys auto store scanner. The safety of mysef and my child and others behind and around me put me at risk and it looks like it is a serious problem that isn't easily diagnosed. I just spend 2000 on different repairs and I explained this issue. It wasn't fixed. On that thread they are saying it could be a ecg valve gone bad. If that's the case it should be a recall. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2024

No check engine warning, unpredictable no start, no crank. Physical well being of grandchild, others and self at risk due to high temperatures. This also puts stress on mental well being, how to fix, can I fix, the cost and constant worry of being stranded. Have not confirmed with dealer. Did have a shop review. Battery, alternator good, starter is new. Issue is sporadic and hard to duplicate, but happening daily. Research on internet shows this is common occurrence without a definitive solution. Who has to have a breakdown, not just mechanically speaking to find a solutuon?.

The front head restrains deployed without any impact. One month apart from each other.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2023

1. ) my tire pressure warning light remains on and unable to detect if tires are actually low or not. It remains on even when tire pressure is at correct level. I got it checked by mechanic and he agreed that something is wrong with the sensor/system. 2. ) both of my side mirror sensors will not turn off. I was driving and they were off (were previously working as normal), but then I went to get into another lane and someone was in my blind spot and I nearly hit them. Now they stay on and aren’t able to be utilized or trusted. There was no prior warning to any of these issues and now my vehicle feels extremely unsafe as I cannot use the safety features nor trust the tire pressure indicator.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2023

Before I started the car I tried to open the passenger sliding door but the door would not open with key fob, manually or interior dash button. (only makes a clicking noise ). Then after driving 5-10 minutes the door opens on its own while driving. Kids and new born in car. Items fell out of car while driving. Interior light came on and my eldest was able to close the door. Very dangerous and distressing!.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2023

I drive for lyft and uber and have had this vehicle spontaneously shut down while I am driving. I have had three places check it and it is not the starter, battery, or alternator. I have replaced the ecu and other items and the mechanics cannot tell me what's wrong. Furthermore, there are no codes that show on the vehicle. The vehicle on the way to the mechanic shut down in traffic and as per usual, started back up and the traction control light came on. When the mechanic disconnected the positive cable on the battery to check the alternator, battery, and starter the code disappeared and the car drove fine on the way home. I have lost a lot of wages due to this issue and now I am afraid to drive the car. I have seen on several forums that this was an issue in the 2011 recall and now it is happening yet again. My car is a 2014 and others are both older and younger, all suffering from this same very scary detail. I hope I am not injured, nor anyone else will be injured, due to this issue. Mechanics are stumped with the problem. I have contacted an attorney and my next step is to call Chrysler but I do not expect them to address this issue unless or until many people die, are injured and then they get sued. Please let me know what, if anything, else I should do. I am putting you on notice of the issue and it's being widespread. In order to make sure I cover all my bases, this issue has happened now about 4x a week, it is not predictable, nor is it consistent with how fast or how slow I may be driving. I have had plenty of gas in the engine.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2023

I was sitting in my 2014 town and country and my active headrest restraint randomly activated hitting me in the back of the head. I was parked with one passenger in the vehicle. It hurt my neck as it shot my head forward.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2023

When vehicle is exposed to consistent sunlight and heat during the spring/summer months, the driver's side power sliding door will not latch properly, causing the door to repeatedly try to latch itself shut. This occurs when opening/closing the door, and also while the vehicle is in motion. For example, if the door is shut properly, and the vehicle goes over a bump or something disrupts the ride, the door will think it is open, the warning light comes on the dashboard, the interior lights activate and the electric latch motor will repeatedly activate until the van thinks the door is closed. Even when parked, I have returned to the vehicle to find the door trying to close itself.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2023

I bought my 2014 Chrysler town and country not even a year ago and this is the second transmission that has went out on my van. I’m now in the process of fighting with the warranty company to get it replaced if possible. There’s no reason for this. The first time it went out was a month after I purchased it June 2022. Second time may 2023 (still in shop waiting).

18 Equipment problem

Passenger sliding door lock is stuck in the unlocked position. I cannot manually or electronically lock the door. This poses a safety risk to my young children and myself.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2023

The lock on right sliding door is in a locked position and you can not open the door. The electronic lock actuator failed and the manual lock lever is stuck in locked position. It's seems to be a Chrysler town and country and Dodge caravan failure. It imposes a safty issue in case of a fire or accident.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2023

The driver side sliding door is not latching fully. The door will be shut and the indicator in blinking, the lights are going inside the car and the door is repeatedly trying to latch.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2022

Engine has begun to stall in the highway for unknown reason. Repair shops can’t find anything wrong. Spoke with other Chrysler town and country owners and they are experiencing the same issue.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2022

Sliding door has been not wanting to shut all the way. It will shut and then pop back open again. You can hear the door trying to shut but then it opens again. We have pretty much stopped using that door to go in and out. It is the passenger side. The other night we got on the freeway and you could hear that the door must not have been shut all the way, although no indicator light saying the door was open nor any interior lights where on. Before I could safely get off again and pull over the door suddenly started engaging and you could here it mechanically moving to lock, the interior of the van lit up and my dashboard indicator came on saying the door was not closed. It did safely close at that point.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2022

Passenger side door will not always close electronically. It keeps trying to close and cycle. Dash shows its open and comes on sometimes when you hit a bump. A chatline I got on has dozens of complaints.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2022

The rear passenger sliding door keeps trying to actuate close, making it pop in and out. The door doesn't latch very well and has opened while driving. I try not to use it. . .

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2022

The passenger sliding door has been buzzing. Also, both sliding doors randomly act like they want to open while driving. You can hear them moving and the lights turn on and off indicating door ajar and closed. This is a safety hazard for my children in the backseat as I am not sure if these doors will start automatically opening if something happens to the lock.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2022

Both back doors will not shut properly. Left side no longer locks. Safty issue. While driving the car the right back door will randomly start making a sound like it is trying to latch, but can’t. The interior lights will begin to come on and off. Warning lights will begin to flash with a message that reads door is opened on the dashboard message system. Looked up mechanical issue with 2014 back doors not staying closed and read hundreds of people with the same issue!!!! the problem has now started on the left side as well but never at the same time as the right side. Recall.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2022

Win module is going out engine cuts out without notice when driving. There have been recalls for this part in older models but issues look to have continued into newer models.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/25/2022

On several occasions, I was driving, and my van turned off. I revived no warning and no check engine light. I was able to put on my emergency signal and pull over. It took several tries to turn back on. It was scary and I feel unsafe driving my van with children now.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2022

Win module. Engine cuts off while driving no warning. Almost caused vehicle crash loss of power steering and total engine power.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2022

Oil filter cooler housing unit is leaking at under 150,000 miles. The leaking oil is pooling and is an extreme fire hazard. After my mechanic informed me that this was common in my vehicle it came to my attention that this has been a known issue which Chrysler has refused to take responsibility for.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2022

Passenger side door cannot be opened via electronic open or manually. Chrysler says this is not covered under warranty to fix.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2021

Headrest safety system deployed while car was parked. Plastic bracket holding release pin broke, casing system to deploy.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2021

Nhtsa has an open investigation: pe 20-012. In this investigation, "complainants allege a fire started at the charge hub mounted in the trim panel located on the driver's side of the vehicle between the second and third row seating. " my 2014 town and country has an issue where the motor and/or latching mechanism overheats and the door starts to open and close on its own. This event only happens during the extreme heat of the summer (such as 90 degrees and above). The local dealership recommended replacing all of the mechanisms in the door. However, they have no idea why the air temperature impacts the door. Regardless, the door is subject to overheating. These mechanisms are located in the same part of the care where the fire investigation is occurring.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2021

The passenger sliding door will not latch and just clicks over and over again. After reading to try to solve the problem I found hundreds of people with the same problem.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2021

The drivers side passenger electric side door won’t open. The door is permanently locked it normally opens with a electric motor that does it at the push of a button. None of the 4 ways to open the door with the electric motor works. The door also doesn’t open manually from inside or outside the door. The vehicle hasn’t been fixed or looked at it just stopped working. The was a unusual noise about a week before when the door would latch shut as soon as it closed. The door no longer functions as a way out of the van. This is a hazard in case passengers need to get out of the van in a emergency.
