general problems of the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country - part 2

When attempting to close the rear sliding doors, they attempt to latch and then fail. If it's hot out the motor will randomly go off and randomly operate. The harness and motors have been replaced and yet it continues.

Van shuts off while driving at different times with no pattern. No instrument panel warnings shown. Also will stall at times while idling.

The passenger side sliding door has issues locking and unlocking. The actuator buzzes whenever the car locks or unlocks, even after a replacement part installed. When automatically closing the door, it often gets “stuck” trying to close and you can hear the door/lock motor repeatedly trying to pull the door closed and lock it even though the door is in the closed position. It will do this until the battery drains if not dealt with. To stop it, I have to manually open the door and slam it closed. Oftentimes the door is just stuck and will not open when in this stuck mode, which is the major safety concern. This has been happening for over a year now. It is especially worse in the heat, but happens all year. These doors are also frozen shut in the winter and the family has to enter the vehicle through the front driver or passenger doors.

Will not crank or turnover. Worked fine 9:00 pm night before. Next morning it will not start.

When I was driving suddenly my van turn off.

My headrest deployed very suddenly while I was driving going about 40 miles an hour and for no reason. . . My car wasn't hit and I didn't even hit a bump. It sounded like an explosion and the headrest hit the back of my head so hard my chin hit my chest. I'm very lucky I was not knocked out and didn't cause an accident.

Van turned off and would crank but not start. Happened at random times until it would not start at all. Was towed for repair, we had to replace the tipm. Now only a couple weeks later the van, again, will only crank but not start.

Both driver and passenger headrests have deployed and will not reset due to broken parts in the headrests. The passenger side headrests deployed first, and recently the driver side also deployed. We had tried to reset them but they won't stay latched and closed. It appears that the broken part is the same piece on both headrests. I've attached photos of each. Both incidences occurred while the vehicle was idle with no occupants. We have never been in an accident in this vehicle.

Front power windows have fallen into the door three times now (driver side 2, passive 1). Each time it required replacement of the window regulator and cable. I can't imagine this happening on the highway -- would scare the bejesus out of somebody when there's a loud bang and the window just drops into the door. Plus, it's a security issue since you have an open window that can't close until you get the repair. Internet searches show this to be a common issue.

Power window regulator failure. I have had not one, but two power window regulators fail while rolling the windows up. The regulators shattered inside my driver and passenger front doors on separate occasions. This caused the windows to fall into the doors. I'm told I'm lucky the windows didn't shatter. This is a huge safety issue while driving and the window suddenly falls down, and an obvious security issue if your vehicle has no window.

The vehicle stalls while driving. No check engine light. I was slowing down to come to a stop and the engine stalled out lost all power.

The airbag light on the instrument panel will randomly illuminate and ding as if the airbag has failed. This happens at random and under no specific circumstances while driving on the road. This concerns me for the fact I fear the air bags will not deploy if an accident occurs.

The van was purchased in 2017. The jerking/shuttering of the vehicle when driving or hauling on gas was the first sign of dysfunction of the vehicle. The second sign of failure in the manufacturing of this make and model of Chrysler was the head restraint of the drivers seat and then weeks latter the passenger seat popped up, when the vehicle was parked and not in motion and deployed out of place without impact of any accident or etc. And last but not least, but extremely important the oil leaks that this vehicle to this day have started since September of 2019. We have gone more than 3 times to different oil changes and companys and they keep insisting it's a Chrysler recall on this make and model. When we noticed this huge oil spill, is when it's parked and we are ready to go to our next destination and a pool of oil shows out! we are afraid to travel far and/or have complications latter. We can't even enjoy this vehicle and go see my brothers who are off in college because this is the only transportation vehicle that all 3 of us in this household can fit comfortable and bring goods to them when in need. We did not purchase this vehicle to have a mediocre product and result. We are very disappointed with the vehicle and wish and pray to finally have a solution and good result this time around with filing this complaint through NHTSA. If this problem is not fixed soon, we will not be able to go to dallas and spend christmas with my younger brothers at the end of the month. Please, please, I beg of you act and give customer service that we need!.

The active head restraint on the drivers seat has deployed without the vehicle being in any type of accident.

My engine has sprung a major oil leak underneath the intake manifold. I've seen hundreds of complaints about the same issue. It appears that Chrysler put a plastic coolant to oil oil cooler under the manifold that is failing. In my opinion the is a major safety issue! this is a fire hazard, could cause loss of control of the vehicle, could cause sudden breakdowns. As wide spread of a problem this is I dont understand why theres not a recall on it. All you have to do is search town country oil cooler and you'll see. We were on the highway when we noticed the oil burning smell. Lifted the hood and the oil was already over 2 quarts low.

The car keeps cutting off in mid driving.

The airbag light on our town and country comes on from time from to time, but seems to go off after driving the van for a while. Every time we have taken it into the dealership, the light will be on but by the time we get to the dealership 30 miles away the light is off. With the light off the dealership cannot diagnose that problem. I am concerned that this is a safety issue in the case the air bags are ever deployed. This has been going on for the last couple of years.

For about a year the car has been giving me problems while its being driven. When I come to a stop it shakes and has cut off on me. It would restart with no problem. Then it stopped giving me problems for a little while. Then last Thursday, I got off at an exit from the highway and when I braked behind a car at the light, it stopped a little rough. I took my foot off the brake to move up a bit and the car started going backwards real slow while it was still in drive. I had to put the car in park and turn it off for a few seconds and restart and it took me to my destination. I'm terrified to drive it with my grandchildren but need my vehicle. It amazes me about the complaints with this same problem and Chrysler is not acknowledging the problem. I pray that something tragic doesn't happen. I have had this car checked repeatedly and they can find nothing and the check engine light doesn't come on.

I was driving about 45 mph on a main roadway in ohio while on vacation. Suddenly, the vehicle went completely dead and stalled. All displays went black. I had no steering and limited braking ability. I was able to leave the roadway safely. Then, I put the vehicle in park. I was able to restart the vehicle, and drive back to our vacation home without issue.

Car stalls for no apparent reason. 1 or 2 times a week. Typically when going slow speeds or coming to a stop. No engine light comes on. Only the traction light which is not applicable. As it is dry and sunny. Some electrical works off and an. Front led panel slightly fades in an out. Fan motor (like a/c fan) goes high and low speeds. Mainly the engine just shuts off without warning, so it is unsafe to drive. I used regular key instead of key fob and push bottom and still does it. Took it in to dealership and they wanted to charge me $850 for a new alternator but they said "try that first", so they were not sure. Took it in somewhere else and they said they couldn't find a problem. Needed a light to come on first. Meanwhile I'm driving a car that is unsafe to drive Chrysler.

The airbag light comes on and off. No rhyme or reason. Multiple owners having the same issue. Also airbags didn't deployed on any accident, we have had two where we were struck from behind and airbag didn't deploy. Chrysler is forcing owners to fix this issue instead of doing a recall or investigation. I don't feel safe in vehicle knowing the airbag is malfunctioning.

On March 12, 2019 my van burst into flames while parked in my driveway. The van was a total loss and my vw which was parked in front of the van was deemed to be a total loss by the insurance company. There was also extensive damage done to the front wall of my home and landscaping. The van had been driven locally approximately three hours prior to the fire.

Our van driver side sliding door won't open. You can't unlock it. It worked in the morning and then went to open it again and won't open.

Driving at 30 mph or slower,the engine shuts off and the computer resets it'self. The gas mileage goes from 21 to 22 mpg back to factory 18 mpg and you have no power steering and no power brakes. It could cause me to wreck for the last time I was in down town lisbon, ohio making a left turn when it just shut off and lost power. You put it in neutral and it will start right up but it's hard to do while turning and no power steering or brakes.

Rear passenger door will open and close normally but when it gets hot outside the door will not latch when it closes. Door sounds like it is constantly trying to latch shut. This will also start happening if the vehicle goes over a bump while driving and the lights go on that the door is open. The door is trying to open and close while driving.

Van was parked in my driveway. My passenger window malfunctioned when rolling down. It made a loud noise and then fell rapidly down into the door frame. I heard it breaking as it fell down at rapid speed inside of the door.

When the vehicle is in motion and coming to a stop light or sign. It starts to jerk and shudder. Sometimes stalling and it needs to be put into park restarted and sometimes it will immediately die again. No codes are thrown and all mechanics and Chrysler dealers are stumped as to what's causing it.

My 2014 t&c has a problem with the tpms. It shows that I have low pressure all the time. There was a recall for this (p63 NHTSA 14v-632) but the dealer says my VIN is not covered. I have the exact problem and model year so come on.

The driver's side sliding passenger door doesn't properly latch in hot weather. Instead of latching, the automatic mechanism continually tries to latch without success. Sometimes driving down the road, the door motor will continue to try to latch the door. Sometimes it will set off the alarm. The door simply will not latch in hot weather unless pressure is applied to the back end of the door (nearest the rear driver's side tire) in conjunction with the sound of the actuator trying to latch the door.

Rear ac evaporator made out of aluminum and exposed to elements by placement has corroded and there is now a leak. This seems to be a reoccurring problem in this vehicle, yet still made year after year the same way. This is also a costly repair, costing between $1500 - $2000 because the frame needs to be removed to repair in most cases. Not to mention the negative effects this is having on the atmosphere by leaking these chemicals. (there is a lot of research behind this). My vehicle, now only 3 years old is useless because of the safety concern of allowing my children to ride in a car during 90 degree weather without any cool air. It is a hot box inside. Even with the windows down, you can not ride in the car for more than 20 minutes at a time without being severely overheated.

Blind spot sensors on both sides are not working. I have not heard of any recalls for this problem. I've had them in for service several times. Passenger side sensor was replaced once and drivers side twice but problems keep reoccuring. Indicator on dash reads service blind spot sensor.

Driver side sliding door motor begins to operate on its own while the vehicle is on or off. The vehicle has now been at a dealer 3 times for repair without any success. This time it also has caused complete failure of several battery cells causing the vehicle to be hazardous to driving as the vehicle does still start and drive, however, there are times it does shut off due tot he battery issue.

I was driving on the highway with my children in the car. It was a very hot day, but we had just had a rainstorm. There were no cars around me on the road and all of a sudden a heard loud boom. I checked my windows nothing around me. I looked up and opened the sunroof cover, and saw my sunroof was shattered into tiny pieces with a large hole in the top. I immediately closed the cover so that the glass didn't fall in my car onto my children.

The tire system light stays on. The dealer state ties are new. I inflated all the tires to the recommended presser. Chrysler corporation said vehicle VIN number not under the same recall # p63.
