My 2016 t & c was parked on an incline when about 5 minutes after I exited the vehicle, it began to roll backwards. Van was in park and off. It rolled back and hit a church sign which stopped it from going over a steep bank and into traffic on route 29 near gretna, va. Extensive damage to sign as well as probably total loss of my van. This happened on 10/2/2025 at 11:00 am.
My back sliding door on the left side just locked up and will not release. This car is a 2016 with only approx 43,600 miles . The door just will not open at all. This has a TSB#23-017-20 I found on line where others have complained.
Head rest on passenger front seat deployed/malfunctioned unexpectedly. Yes it is available for inspection. It could have hit my husband in the head as he was entering the vehicle. Now I am concerned the same malfunction may happen on drivers side while vehicle is being driven. No no no warning were given.
I have owned 2 Chrysler town and countrys over the past 9 years, a 2010 and a 2016. The rear sliding door has locked up and doesn't allow the door to open. It happened to the 2010 so I decided to get a newer one and now the same thing has happened to the 2016. The 2016 also has a driver window problem where the regularactor breaks and has to be replaced. I have replaced it 4 times in the past year. My son is a mechanic and has urged me not to buy Chrysler, but I was loyal so I still have it. I am seriously considering a brand change now due to the annoyance and the safety aspect. I transport my family alot and this problem is putting a big damper on things. I have also researched this on the internet and it seems to be a common problem. Can I ask why there isn't a recall on these issues? thanks you for your time.
A 2015-2016 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge grand caravan recall was issued due to a potential loss of motive power. The transmission pump could seize, causing a loss of hydraulic pressure. This recall also includes 2016 Dodge journey and ram promaster vehicles. To check if your specific vehicle is affected, you'll need your 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN). This the issue I have with my van. I believe my van should be included in this recall. I cannot trust this vehicle especially on the highway. The transmission is 62te and was manufactured during the same time as the recalled vehicles. The code reader indicates the hydraulic pumps are not working. I need to have a safe vehicle that I can depend on.
The transmission on my 2016 Chrysler Town & Country with a 62te transmission is faulty. The pumps inside the transmission are not working and seizing up. I checked with recalls and according to mopar, there is no recall on my particular VIN number. But I have read that a recall was issued for 2016 Chrysler and Dodge products with the same 62te transmission as mine. I would like to register a complaint, I believe my van should be included in the recall and want someone to investigate. I have also many other minivan owners with 62te transmissions have experienced the same problem. I believe my van was missed in the initial recall and would like to believe this problem can be addressed.
First incident. Driver side sliding door lock failed. Sliding door could not be unlocked and opened from inside or outside the vehicle. Had to use other sliding door to exit van. Door had to be dismantled and failed latch replaced. Approximately 7 years old and roughly 52,000 miles. This was around 9/2023. Second incident. Passenger side sliding door lock failed. Sliding door could not be unlocked and opened from inside or outside the vehicle. Had to use other sliding door to exit / enter van. Scheduled to go in for failed latch replacement at Chrysler dealer. Approximately 9 years old and roughly 63,000 miles. Either one of these unexpected failed door latch incidents could have led to injury or possibly death.
I received a letter from Chrysler regarding TSB #23-017-20 regarding the rear sliding doors unable to be opened either electrically or manually a few years ago. Recently the cars left/rear door wouldn't work. Unable to open it at all. It's a 2016 town and country with 147,421 miles on it. Well within the TSB requirements. I called a local Chrysler dealer. They told me if they decided the cars problem wasn't part of the recall they would charge me $250. 00 for diagnostics. It clearly is related since it has the same symptoms. Sounds like their way of avoiding the repairs since Chrysler will only reimburse the dealer for 1. 2 hrs when actually repair time is past 3 hours. I then called 1-800-247-9753 the number on Chrysler's service bulletin they mailed me. After a 30 minute conversation were they told me the car didn't qualify. I convinced them it did when I referred the letter they sent me. They said to contact a dealer which I told them I had. I explained their response and they said they would put a complaint regarding the dealer and there was nothing else they could do. I called another local dealer and they never bothered to call me back. I called a local car repair place since the letter says they would reimburse someone else if the repair is done somewhere else. They refused to sell the place the part to them. I entered my VIN number on Chrysler's web site that they provide to reimburse customers. The VIN number came back as not qualifying for the service bulletin. These are their ways to avoid servicing these cars under the service bulletin. I have proof the car is within the mileage limit and at this time it still is. I had to replace the part myself. My wife needed the car and couldn't wait for Chrysler. There are many places online were people with the same problem were denied the repair even though they did qualify. Thanks.
Righ passenger side door making a buzzing sound when locking/unlocking sliding door. Door will not open. Just bought car yesterday, 9/14/24.
The van cut off while driving twice in one day. Took van to have battery, starter and alternator checked and all was find.
Car would turn off randomly while driving; this primarily happened at red lights. After a moment was able to turn car back on and continue driving. Took car to mechanic and had something replaced; however, this issue continued. Took car to dealership and they confirmed that they could find nothing wrong with the car. Dealership that provided follow-up call that there was a potential fix to have pcn (?) chip updated and that this was a known issue. It does not seem safe to have a car randomly turning off while driving; especially in a large Mini van which is most commonly used by families with young children. The dealership made me pay $300 to pay for the safety fix despite it being a known issue and a safety issue. When the car would turn off this was at 0 mph but it occured coming from all different types of speeds. Foot on the break in the middle of an inner section - that is dangerous and someone speeding through and crashing into you. Pcn update was completed at Chrysler dealership.
1. Engine runs but when I shift into reverse, drive etc. Car does not move. When I took it to be looked at, they said that my transmission doesn't have pressure. There was no indicator lights on the dash or any reason for me to think anything was wrong until I went out to drive my kids to school and it wouldn't move. Available for inspection on request.
Driver side sliding door failures to open. It can not be unlocked & it can not be opened manually. Started on may 23,2024. Navigation system does not work also. . Stopped working 3yrs ago.
My rear passenger sliding door doesn't lock. My rear driver sliding door won't open. This is a safety problem if I was ever in a wreck and couldn't get my grandaughter out the door due to her being in a car seat. This is a serious safety issue. If the car caught fire you would put someone in grave danger if they were in the back seats and the door wouldn't open. This is a huge problem with these vehicles and I don't think we should have to pay for it, Chrysler should.
The rear door on left side won't unlock, it won't unlock or open at all. It's stuck in closed position and cannot be open manually.
While driving my vehicle my driver's side headrest exploded without being in an accident. I received no warning from Chrysler about the headrests being faulty. They left driving that unsafe vehicle with the exploded headrest for over 7 months this before replacing it and refuse to replace the passenger one as well stating, "we will only replace that if it explodes during the extended warranty period for it and yours is almost up. " they currently still have my vehicle at the dealership. They clearly want to see a car accident occur knowing that headrest could go off at any moment and was made and installed the sane time as the drivers side.
Actuator for driver side sliding door lock making loud noise when operating which will lead to failure.
The drivers sliding door is stuck locked/closed. A toddler was stuck in her car seat since I was not able to open the door. This could be a huge safety issue if in an accident or adult unable to help her get out through window.
The vehicle was listed on the facebook marketplace for 96,000 miles, while near purchasing for $8,900, cash asked the seller to run a carfax and he took very long, and never gave it to us. I took it upon myself to contact someone to run the VIN number on the vehicle . . . The carfax shows the vehicle has 450,487 miles registered in maryland at 450,487 miles on 11-16-2022. Said vehicle with the same VIN was registered in new york state on 12-12-2022 and listed with an odometer reading of 99,451 miles. The receipt was given with the wrong price than originally charged (included in uploads). Odometer was turned back from this dealership registered in new york state I believe it's very unfair for law-abiding citizens like myself to go through such a disastrous experience as well as almost losing $8,900, I'm kindly asking you to please investigate this matter because I believe most of the vehicles sold by this seller has fake odometer reading (mileage). Please run the VIN for this vehicle registered to different states with different odometer reading upon reaching new york state to scam law-abiding citizens. I want this to be investigated ASAP. I enclosed for your convenience my messenger chats with the seller.
The driver side rear sliding door is stuck in a closed and locked position. All attempts to open or unlock it using fobs, interior buttons, or manual force have failed. Others with this same issue seem to attribute it to a known lock actuator issue. Inability to exit the vehicle is a safety concern. I have not yet seen a mechanic for it. There were and continue to be no warnings/symptoms/indications that the vehicle computer system recognizes the problem. Prior to this, both sliding doors have occasionally 'glitched' by repeatedly closing automatically, unbidden - also a safety issue if children are caught or injured by the unexpected action.
My 2016 Chrysler town and country van, started making horrible noises while I was circling to get my friend at the airport. There was no warning light and no place to stop. I slowly drove 2 miles to a gas station and parked it over night, got it towed to my regular shop in the morning. They told me transmission oil pump had failed. They referenced me to nthsa safety recall 16v461000 ( Chrysler recall number s44 ) for transmission oil pump. Recall was for dates Aug 2015 thru Aug 2016. My vehicle dom was December 2015, right in the middle of the recall date range. However, for unknown reasons, my VIN is not included in the nthsa recall and Chrysler / fca / stellantis is refusing to pay for the $7500 repair. I would like nthsa to please add my VIN number to the above referenced recall. Please let me know next steps. Thank you!.
I have had this vehicle for 2 years. I have replaced the fly wheel 3 time. It has caused many issues under he hood.
Rear side passenger doors. At times they do not work remotely or manually. They go into a lock position and there are no means of opening them. If there are passengers in the vehicle, they are locked inside without any means to get out those doors. At the present time on my vehicle, one is working and the other is in a lock position. I am calling the dealer today to set up an appointment to resolve. This is a very serious problem if someone was to have passengers and have to exit the vehicle through those doors quickly, or are not able to climb out the front or back doors, I feel could lead to a liability or lawsuit against the manufacturer.
Driver's side sliding door lock remains locked in the locked position. It will not unlock and will not unlock, when using the unlock button. Will not unlock manually. Unable to open using interior or exterior door handles. All other door locks operate when using unlock button. Unsafe and difficult, when handicap individuals try to exit vehicle. Unable to open in case of emergency.
The actuators on both sliding doors were replaced by a Chrysler dealership under a recent recall. Both doors had been having problems locking and unlocking. The actuator on the passenger sliding door had to be replaced twice, but the door continued having issues with getting stuck in the locked position. We could not unlock or open it manually or electronically. Chrysler and the dealership continued to claim that they had replaced the parts according to the recall and they would not figure out why the door was continuing to get stuck locked. Then, while my teenager was driving 55 mph, the door spontaneously opened, even though all doors were locked while driving. Alarm bells sounded. Fortunately, I was with her and helped her to navigate to the shoulder of the road and put on the hazard lights so that I could try to shut the door. It did shut. This is a serious safety concern because my children usually are sitting in the back, right next to the sliding door. I am worried the door will randomly open while we are driving, or that the door will randomly lock them inside. It has not functioned properly since the dealership tried to replace the recalled actuator.
Sliding door suddenly and without warning fails to unlock or open. Whether attempts are made electronically nor manually, the door cannot be unlatched and therfore cannot be opened from the inside or outside creating a serious safety risk in the event of an accident or any reason for a speedy exit.
I have a 2016 Chrysler town and country and just about every time the doors lock the drivers side sliding door makes this loud buzzing noise. Research shows that the door lock actuator is probably failing. My fear is that the door lock itself may fail. I expect the doors on the vehicle to lock when they are supposed to. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed by Chrysler.
Hood latch assembly detached from the hood of the van while driving on freeway causing the hood to crash into windshield, obstructing all visibility and causing extensive damage to vehicle.
Left rear passenger door of my Chrysler Town & Country minivan (behind driver's seat) suddenly became locked in place and would not unlock. I was told by local garage that the locking mechanism (door lock actuator) needs to be replaced and would cost 695. 00 for parts and labor. I've read several online complaints about this same issue. This is a safety issue; Chrysler needs to recall and repair. If someone was trapped inside (for ex, if the vehicle exited the road and landed in water) they could be trapped inside the vehicle.
On 4/12/2022, I attempted to open the drivers side sliding door on our 2106 Chrysler Town & Country. The door did not unlock when using the key fob or when using the unlock button on the drivers side door. I also tried manually unlocking the door but it would not unlock. Now the door is stuck in a locked state and will not open. I was unable to open the door to put my child into their car seat and therefore I would not be able to get them out of the car in an emergency. As this issue just started today (4/12/2022) I have not had a chance to get the vehicle looked at but have found many articles online that confirm that this is a re-occurring issue with this particular vehicle. There were no warning lights or any other indicators that this issue would occur. Vehicle and doors were working completely fine up until this morning (4/12/2022).
This complaint is in reference to faulty sliding doors. Specifically, on this vehicle, the driver's side sliding passenger door has become completely stuck. It is closed and will not open despite automatic and manual attempts to move the sliding door. This is highly problematic as failure to open the door at all (manually or automatically) could result in passengers becoming trapped in the van in the event of an emergency. There was no accident, situation, noise, warning sign, or otherwise that would indicate the door would stop working or that it would become completely stuck in the closed position.
My rear sliding doors are stuck in locked position. I cannot unlock the doors manually or via the lock/unlock buttons. Thus, the doors will not open at all. The only way to exit from the back seats is to go through the front doors, the rear hatch, or an open window. I feel this is a safety hazard. I see online that Chrysler has been aware of this issue since at least 2016 and the NHTSA opened an investigation regarding this last July, but I can't find any status online regarding this investigation.
Safety component issue. Sliding doors have actuator locking mechanism failure. May cause the door to not lock or unexpectedly lock shut with adults or children are in rear vehicle seats. Loud buzzing noise is one symptom to identify a faulty sliding door actuator.
Driverside rear sliding door will not open manually or remotely due to the lock staying in the locked position.
Sliding door locks quit working got stuck. Manuel and power door locks stuck unable to lock or unlock sliding doors. Trapped in back of car. Dangerous!!!!.
