Vehicle was being driven normally. Came to stop sign at intersection with highway. As it was coming to a stop, the transmission didn't seem to want to downshift with the slowing speed. Engine speed slowed to below idle, and transmission clunked (and seemed to drop completely out of gear). As traffic cleared and the accelerator was pressed, the vehicle wouldn't move at all (forwards or reverse). Had to wave lots of other drivers past. Thankfully it was already stopped, or the outcome could have been lots worse. Dealership stated "transmission was slipping and surging. Fluid was ok. Pump pressure was low, and torque had a shudder. Transmission needs to be replaced. " there is a recall for this year, make, and model for the failure of the hydraulic pump in the transmission, but this VIN is for some reason not included. Vehicle has only 67,500 miles.
I was in motion driving my vehicle on 495 one of the biggest highways in DC area. While driving my transmission started to slip could feel this slips then my car lost all power reved up to 5 6 while pressing the gas but I could not get the car to go. The most dangerous day of my life for my children and I. There has already been a recall on the same year make and model but not my VIN number. Recall 16v461000.
The transmission is slipping and causing unexpected deceleration. (loud whining noise from the trans module area. My wife and kids were in traffic on the way to school when the vehicle/van lost power and high revved the engine due to issues with the transmission. She was able to coast off the highway into a parking lot to avoid collision. It appears there are recalls due to bad hydraulic pump in trans but the somehow my vehicle is not included according to the dealer. (recall s44/NHTSA 16v-461) I have no way of validating the production date of my vehicle. Please compile and see if other consumers have been exposed to this hazard. Perhaps the recall needs to be extended to include additional make dates.
